         <description><![CDATA[<div>Platypus reproduce sexually. Since platypus lay eggs, the mother  will lay them after the 2-4 week gestational period, and then sit on them for about  10 days to keep them warm before they hatch. Platypus will lay about 2-3 eggs at a time.</div>]]></description>

The average size of an adult platypus is 17-20 in. long and around 2-5 pounds in weight. The platypus also has very thick, coarse, brown fur and webbed hands and feet. As well as a peculiar duck bill and beaver tail.</div>]]></description>
