Group 3

Racial inequality

Group:

Alejandro Libreros

Esteban Vargas

Esteban fierro

Felipe Arango

Stiven peña

Good afternoon, today, we would like to present they issue of racism.

The racism is maintaining the superiority or inferiority of an ethnic group compared to others, promoting mechanisms, systems and cultures of discrimination, persecution and exclusion. The word "racism" also designates the anthropological doctrine or political ideology based on that feeling.

There are authors who propose distinguishing between racism in a broad sense and racism in a restricted sense. In the first case, it would be an ethnocentric or "sociocentric" attitude that separates one's own group from the other's and considers that both are made up of hereditary and immutable essences that make others, foreigners, inadmissible and threatening beings. This conception of others would lead to their segregation, discrimination, expulsion or extermination and could be based on scientific or religious ideas or on mere legends or traditional feelings. It also affirms the intellectual and moral superiority of some races over others, a superiority that is maintained by racial purity and ruined by miscegenation. This type of racism, whose model is the Nazi and Western racism in general, leads to defending the natural right of the "superior" races to prevail over the "inferior" ones. Racism in a restricted sense is a doctrine of scientific appearance that affirms the hereditary biological determination of the intellectual and moral capacities of the individual, and the division of human groups into races, differentiated by physical characteristics associated with intellectual and moral, hereditary and immutable ones.

In our opinion, racism is a practice that must be completely extinguished and we think that we all have the same rights and are equal.

Sofia Carvajal Sergio Aragon 9-2

Gender inequality is a complex and multifaceted issue that affects societies worldwide in various ways. Here are some key points often discussed in English:

Wage Gap: Women often earn less than men for equivalent work. This disparity is due to a combination of factors, including direct discrimination and occupational segregation.

Access to Education: In many parts of the world, girls have less access to education than boys. This limits their future opportunities and perpetuates cycles of poverty.

Political and Business Representation: Women are underrepresented in leadership positions in both politics and business. This can result in their interests and needs not being adequately represented.

Gender Stereotypes: Traditional gender roles and expectations can limit women’s opportunities and perpetuate inequality. For example, the expectation that women should be the primary caregivers can affect their career prospects.

Gender-Based Violence: Women are disproportionately victims of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual harassment, and other forms of abuse.

Addressing gender inequality requires implementing policies that promote equal opportunities, educating society about gender stereotypes, and supporting women in all areas of life.
