*Physical Development: The body proportions change and the head is more suited for the body. By 3 years old the toddler will have about 20 teeth and most toddlers, especially females, will have bladder and bowel control. Toddlers will be running, jumping, and climbing as motor sensory progresses
*Cognitive Development: Toddlers will be able to start speaking sentences, and can understand simple requests and instructions and reply, although their attention span is very short. They start to learn ideas, attitudes, and morals but they also believe their point of view is the only one. This can often lead to temper tantrums and strong emotion.
*Erickson's Stage of Development: Autonomy(able to care for themselves) VS Shame & Doubt
*Care Considerations: Keep dangerous objects away and out of reach, "baby-proof" your home to better accommodate a curious child. Be preventative of possible injury but do not overprotect or place unrealistic expectations on the child.

*Physical Development: Children start to thin out and gain some height. They gain control of the balance and that allows them to roam and learn things like skating. Their Self-care skills also heighten and they can dress themselves.
*Cognitive Development: They can now speak well and in full sentences, and though they have short attention spans they can now count, speak the alphabet, and remember their home address and phone numbers. They have an awareness of others but still think everyone has their opinions.
*Erickson"s Stage of Development: Initiative VS Guilt
Care Considerations: These children are building up their confidence to try new things and learn new activities so careful encouragement is helpful in order for your child to continue trying new experiences.
