         <description><![CDATA[<div>First of all minic stand for Microbe Invention , Innovation And Ideation Challenge . The objective for this project been conducted is for the student to have the communication skills , leadership skills , entrepreneurship skills , teamwork and expose the students to be more innovative . What i had obtain during conducting this project were firstly , i am a leader to my minic group . I learned that being a leader is hard especially when you're group members are from different college and courses . We definitely had some difficulties to gather at the same time where everyone of our group member are present but as leader i need to be positive and a little bit firm to make this project a success . As a leader too , i learn to handle with some of the members that wont contribute to the project but in the end we did it as a whole team . Secondly , about the project i did learn about the importance of the microbes , even though we could not see microbes with our naked eyes but the microbes are actually very important in our life as the microbes benefit and help us to stay healthy and even provide us with a lot of beneficial nutrients , microbes also helps the environment , animal and all the living things on earth . We learn something that we could not obtain in any lecture or classes and it is something new to us . Besides, I discovered new apps along conducting the project such as zoom.us that Dr Wan has introduce to us , in making the poster we used poster my wall an online website and even the Augmented Reality where we use Aurasama apps to watch the video when we scan the triggered photo on our poster . Other than that , I personally feel that as a first year student to be able to conduct this project is quite a good achievement for my team . This project did help me to sharpen my&nbsp; leadership skills and communication skills and even help me in working as a team . All in all i really did enjoy this project when especially during the exhibition day even though it was nerve wrecking and the questions asked by the judges were definitely an eye opening that we should do our research more and improve our research .But in this way we know what were we lacking of in making a successful project and maybe soon help us in our final year project or upcoming presentations .I would like to thank Dr. Wan and Dr Amalia for spending your time to help us with our project and even checking on our progress without our lecturers guidance , we cannot make this project a successful.<br>Not to forget my group members for being cooperative and creative without all of you i would not have the project to present on the exhibition day .          <description><![CDATA[<div>This week is such a hectic week to begin with. It was really tiring but it really worth and I'm so thankful to be a part of this week. The highlight of this week is the Microbes Invention, Innovation and Ideation Challenge where the courses that took part in this program are Microbiology students, Biotechnology students and the Biocellular students. We teamed up to came up various products that use microorganisms for the production. For my team, we chose Chitosan Soluble Pills where we extract chitosan from chitin of the fungus, <em>Rhizopus oryzae. </em>This product is actually used to lengthen the shelf life of agricultural products especially fruits that undergoes ripening in short period of time. The chitosan form a coating for the fruits that lengthen their ripening period and actually consumable. It is also biodegradable and nature-friendly. Here is some photos from our MINIC day. From this project, I would like to thank Dr. Wan and Dr. Amalia for giving us the chances to make this happen. Thank you also for all the advice and guidance from the start through the end of this project. I would also like to thank my teammates, Anisha, Hamdi, Afiq, Cheng, Hazwa, Amani and Subatra for all the hard works and supportive attitude.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Assalamualaikum and hi. On December 14, 2017, my members and i were fortunate to have a MINIIC project, which was compulsory for all first year students in Faculty Biotechnology and Biomolecular Sciences. MINIIC stands for Microbe Invention, Innovation and Ideation Challenge. First of all, I am very grateful for being able to perform the project with my group members. Although the process of making this project a successful is quite tiring and hard I could say because we are from different course (eventhough same faculty) and everyone has their own packed schedule, Alhamdulillah we made it! What did I learned in the process of making this project is, I was in charge for the poster. I learned a lot through the online apps, PosterMyWall how to make a simple but full of information poster to attract others. Besides that, I also discovered new apps, zoom.us and aurasma.com. Next, our project title is “Fruits gone bad?” which mean we want to find the solution on how to extend the shelf life of fruits so that the fruits can last longer. We used <em>Rhizopus oryzae, </em>a fungi<em> </em>as our microbes. The chitosan made from chitin from the cell wall of the fungi can help coating the fruits and that’s why the fruits can last longer than usual and our goal is to keep the fruits last longer in large agricultural industries so it can be exported to overseas. Then, I learned that to produce the chitosan, it must go through a few processes such as deacetylation process. Overall, I feel that as a first year student, for being able to conduct such a project is definitely a good achievement and it can help us improving in many skills. To Dr. Amalia and Dr. Wan, thank you for giving us this chances and guiding us in improving our presentation and also a big thank you to my group members, Anisha, Rodhi, Hamdi, Cheng, Afiq, Amani and Subattra for your cooperation and hardwork to make our miniic project successful. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The MINIC project is really an enjoyable experience although we may have lots of ups and downs along the journey. The main objective of this project is to challenge the students to create and innovate a product using microbes. The first challenge that we faced was that we all clueless about how we should create a product from microbes and is it possible for us to do this project since we are all first year students. But thanks to all lecturers that gave us the guidance, we were able to make this project a success. We learnt many knowledge throughout the process and not just challenge ourselves to be creative and innovative. Learning about the microbes that we use which is <em>Rhizopus oryzae</em> was interesting because I did not know that such a small microbes can live a complicated process and it was difficult for us to figure out how to extract the chitin from the fungus to make chitosan, a coating to lengthen the shelf life of fruits. Making video, poster, the AR augmentation and also the virtual discussion we had with Dr. Wan were really fun eventhough it was tiring and difficult. I would like to thank all my team members that gave their full efforts and hardwork in making this happen. Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success :)<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi, this week is soo hectic for me, but I can manage myself to do it!! To do what? MINIC!!! Which just held in our faculty.<br><br></div><div>So it was bad for the first year? Well for me, even the MINIC project quite distract my timetable, but I can find the benefit through the project. Our project was about the Chitosan soluble pill, which we use chitin to be used as daily commercial product.<br><br></div><div>Our theme project is food and we decided to come out something that essential for food to be preserved, then the chitosan idea is kind of good to be…hhuhuhu…<br><br></div><div>So our product by using <em>Rhizopus oryzae</em> and extract their chitin. The chitin then through more process to become chitosan. This chitosan will preserved food that easily to oxidized which then can be stay longer than expected. We had done lot of activity together like making video by using special apps, learn something new with new member course friend, having great talk from the speech (Leave A Nest- psstt…. I hope I can be one of them…hhhuhuhu) alright that’s all from me…<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Hi I'm Subatrra Nair, 193379 here, As a microbiology student, its really interesting to discover the microb world at where we searched and discover about new new microorganisms to find for a species to do this minic and at last we found a fungi, Rhizopus oryzae and found that its chitin at it's cell wall is the highest among all the fungi and it can be use for food preservation. We choosed banana as the food to be preserved since it will easily get rotten within one week and it is also a local famous fruit.According to some research, it is already discovered that exoskeleton of shrimp is used for this preservation but then we find fungi is much more cheap ,safe and edible but then shrimp might cause allergic to some people.On the day of minic we manage to prepare prototype of having rotten banana and fresh banana and also we manage to done with posters, arusma ,pamplets and all.. I'm very thankfull to have this kinda group members who understand other people's situation and help each other. We also manage to brave ourself and answer all the questions by the invigilicators.Eventhough we didn't win any prizes but we had developed our communications skills, team work, creativities, thinking skills, collaboration and many more useful characteristics. A very big thanks to all my gruopmates who totally put their 100% effort and make it a success </div>]]></description>
