My name is Matthew Lefevers. I am 6'0, have dirty blonde hair, Caucasian, male, and have blue eyes. I love animals, Preferably dogs and cats. i believe in the fact that there is a god but that i do not need to go to church to believe in him. because he is with us no matter where we are. But the most important part of me is standing up for the smaller person. helping people and letting people know they aren't alone.

My Dad says that we are Indian but has not given us any other answers or facts other than that. so i am in the unconfirmed Indian ancestry.

From kindergarten to 3rd grade was good for me. I was the star pupil sort of speak. I was the one with the best grades, I was the one who had the best friends, I was the one who made things better, I was living my life and being happy. the teachers loved me, the principal loved me, the janitors and staff loved me. things were overall perfect. I would finish my work before all the other kids so i would sit and nap till it was time for recess. when recess came, my friends and I would run out and play tag, hide and seek, literally anything or little minds could come up with.

From 4th grade to 6th grade, i changed. 4th grade was my last great year as the perfect kid. from there i went to middle school where i found out about my ADHD and how life isnt so nice and happy and always good. from there on, i struggled, i was in ISS more than 90 times in one year, when literally none of them were my fault. im just glad i had a grandmother who understood how it was for me and knew i wouldnt make this stuff up. i was bullied by students and teachers. i know it sounds dramatic, but it was proven and dealt with. 5th and 6th grade in a nut shell was just overall not my time of clarity.

Chapter 3: Family Stories

Story One: The first time i slept in when my dad had the day off.

so long title. i know. but if you think about it, what did you do with your dads when you were younger and you had no school, and they were out of work? well. i was asleep when my dad got his coffee, sat down on the couch, and saw me sleeping on the front room floor. from there, he had hatched the plan to throw me out into the snow while i was still sleeping. he got up, put his coffee down, unwrapped me from my sleeping bag, picked me up and carried me to the door. when he opened it, he saw a ground of white, so white that it was blinding if you stared at it for too long. he then walked out onto the porch, counted to 3, and then tossed me into the snow. after 3 minutes of me not waking up or moving, my dad ran out, worried and scared, grabbed me up, ran in and threw me into a warm bath to warm me up. when i woke up, all i saw was my dad holding me in the bath and i felt numb all over because of being in the cold for so long and then being thrown into warm water.

Story Two: the first crush.

believe it or not everyone has their first crush. and unfortunately, our parents know it too. they found out who my crush was and would bring her up any chance they could when i was around. they would laugh, make fun, and laugh some more. one night we were at one of my school converts, and she happened to stand right next to me, so my parents hatched a plan to embarrass me in front of her. and the whole school for that matter. so they came to the front, waited till the songs were done and held up their phones and took pictures with me next to her and talking and said "go in for the kiss! thats my boy! yea you get that beautiful girl with your charm!". lets just say that i didnt go back to school for a few days. and thankfully everyone forgot about it. but i still remember. never will i forget that horror.

Story Three: the time my parents found out i sang.

so when i was little, i did what all little kids did. i would play with legos, sing, laugh, and make things up. back then, my parents would watch "Army Wives" and the theme song for the introduction of that show was Rascal Flatt's song "Everyday". so one day im playing in the hallway, minding my business, i hear the song come on, and i start singing it subconsciously, unknown to me that my dad was behind me, recording me the entire time. i hadnt known about this for years, until one day i hear my dad laughing with my mom. i walk in and ask what they were laughing at, they said "you". i walked over, they turned the phone screen, and clicked play. from then on i stared in shock as i remembered that i would always sing that when i was little. ever since then, i have not been able to live it down.

Chapter 4: Suddenly, I Became Me

I was born April 22, 2001 at 7:14pm at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri. when I was born, my sister and i were very unusually small. we could both fit in the palm of me dad's left hand. the first couple of years were good. I was growing up normally. On May 6, 2002 my brother Andrew was born at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia, Missouri. Then one day in the year of 2006, my mother got into a very terrible accident. she was rushed to the hospital. there, it got so bad, that she literally went brain dead for 5 minutes. and then somehow she woke back up but with no cognitive skills. she had to learn to walk, write, and talk again. she had to undergo so much pain when going through therapy. but the worst part of this story, was that when i was not even 6 years old, i memorized my mom's license plate number. and i saw a wrecked car in the newspaper. so i looked at the license plate. that read "9B4 8D6". it took me just a moment, looking at the mangled car and the license plate to realize that the car in the paper, was my mom's car. when i confronted my grandparents who we were staying with while my dad was at the hospital with my mom, they were horrified that i realized it, being only 5 years old. they then called my dad and told him that he needed to get home right now, and that his son just found out that his mother was hurt very badly and that his parents lied to him. my dad rushed home to find me with the paper in my hand and tears in my eyes. i looked up at him and asked him to tell me what was going on. and so he did. my mom has never bee the same since that accident. she currently lives off of disability and hasn't seen us in person in almost 2 years now. The story above is true. and i wish i hadn't found that out at the age of 5.

From the age of newborn, to 6 years old, we grew up in Clinton, Missouri. we lived in a nice house with a lake in our back yard. a forest on the side of our house, and a nice long gravel driveway about a half a mile long. it was beautiful. there was a garden on the other side of our house where i would go out with my great grandmother and great grandfather and help them in the garden. my sister and i lived there with my mom, great grandparents, and our two dogs name Mollie and Bridgette. from 7 to 11 i was in Sedalia, Missouri. i moved to Kansas into a very nice house and started school at Christa McAuliffe Academy. a week and 2 days went by before my dad and step-mother got into such a big fight, that we left the state of Kansas and moved back to Missouri. we finished our 7th grade year in Sedalia and our 8th grade year there. during the summer, we moved back to the state of Kansas where we started our freshman year of high school. half way through my freshman year, it became apparent to all of us that Kansas did not feel like a home to us. so we moved back to the state of Missouri and moved to Ozark, Missouri. from the middle of freshman year, to now is where i currently reside. my space didnt grow much over the years. i only just got my own room maybe 4 years ago.

I am part of the Ozark High School JROTC Program. Now even though that is the only extracurricular activity i am in, it does well to take up my time. I'm currently a Platoon Leader for Alpha Company. The responsibilities that i hold are making sure the Platoon Sergeant is doing his job as well as getting his orders. so I'm basically more of a symbol than actually needed, but from the chats from my fellow classmates in my JROTC class, everyone loves me and doesn't want me to go. Now i feel completely happy that i have been so good for them that it has inspired loyalty beyond the level needed for my job. they have actually taken a liking to me and don't want me to leave. That is something i will NEVER forget as long as i live. JROTC is not only a program, it is also a crazy, chaotic, but amazing and loving, and caring family who at the end of the day, i can trust more than anyone in the school. so people can diss our JROTC program, but they are missing out on what matters most.

All of these names mean something to me. these names somehow or another have shaped me through making this book. people like this, don't usually hang around in the same group, but something they do together, is make me laugh, show me relaxation, make life livable. A few of these names i wouldn't have considered best friends until Mrs. Rice paired us up for a project (you know the group Mrs. Rice). they have made this year fun, exciting, strange, crazy, but for some odd reason, i wouldn't have this last year of mine any other way.

All of those "lasts" have been very different for me. This is probably the most important thing i have done for my life. I will say that i will miss the Schedule of coming somewhere for a certain time. it will be weird not having to go somewhere everyday and doing busy work until that school bell rings and sends us on our way home. As for the Freshman this year, i treated them with the utmost respect and courtesy, so should have everyone. I dealt with the freshman a lot this year because of JROTC. we always go down there when we get the chance to do PT with them, Marksmanship, Drill, and other things. they have all been willing and ready to learn, they all have that capacity to take up every little bit of information they are given, and then go and put it to good use. Do I think they are gonna be fine? Yes. DO I think they are gonna be ready and able to tackle High School? Definitely. without a doubt. As for me, I don't know how to feel. I will say that it is a bit frightening to think that I am an adult now and that i have to make my start in life now. But I also feel that this is what my family and friends have prepared me for. so am i ready? yes. Do i think I am gonna make a few mistakes along the way? yes, just like everyone does.

So, In my life, a lot of bad things have happened, but so have a lot of good things. If I could relive my life, I would. But I wouldn't change a thing about everything that is and isn't in this book. The reason why, is because everything that has happened to me, has made me who I am today. Yea I am just another person in this world, but what makes me different is that I won't let the past control my future. The past is what makes me who I am, and for that I am happy, but I know when there are times to let it go, and times to hold onto it for dear life. but as of right now, I am okay. I will survive. For this book, is who I am.
