For 11th grade, one of the state standards include determining themes and central ideas of a text, and analyze their development over the course of the text, emphasizing on how they build off another through the course of a text (11-12. RL. 2). For an assessment, students will be required to work in groups to apply themes from Macbeth to real life situations, modern TV shows, or movies. Or students can use scenes from Macbeth that highlight a major theme and modernize that scene. To show their application of themes, students will use Animoto. Animoto is a moviemaker type website that allows students to convey to the teacher that they have an understanding of a concept that they can apply it to a movie form. By using Animoto, students can create something using technology and the information they have been learning in class. Benefits of using Animoto for this assessment include:
1. Student collaboration
2. Animoto provides a platform for presenting student work that is unique
3. Allows and creates an opportunity for student creativity
4. Offers a way to enhance the assignment given to students rather than a in class reading/presentation
5. Creates a unique way for students to apply what they have learned throughout the unit

This course has given me more technology resources through the Tech Tool Evaluations, as well as the Ed Tech Tools website. The ISTE standards was not newly acquired knowledge, but the Tech Evaluations allowed me to connect those standards to the Tech Tools. Many of these tools I can use, and through the Development plans, I now know the limitations to using such tools. For example, I am much more familiar with iMovie than Animoto, but majority of schools will not have access to Apple products within the classroom. From my experience in Tempe schools, all of them use Thinkpads in their classrooms, which is a PC. To accommodate that, I have to use another type of storytelling tech tool, Animoto, and familiarize myself with it. Through the Professional development plans, I have come to notice more of what my potential classroom and school has to offer and how best to use what I am given to benefit my students. If every classroom has access to some computers, at least in the Tempe schools, students can work in groups, and use their phones, to create movies by filming scenes on their phones, and then uploading to the school computers. As long as I offer my students time in class to work on their movies, or other technology based presentations, they will be able to use the technology they have, cellphones, and the technology they may not have access to, computers and the internet, to create a movie or other student based presentation. As long as I stay up to date with the newest technology, I can be successful in implementing it in my classroom.
