Social media changed the dynamics of human interactions in a way that there is no filter in what we say in contrast to communicating normally in person. It allow us to communicate with far greater audience or people online. This includes, people going out with their friends to socialize, communicate and bond. Instead of talking to each other, people are stuck with their phones, it seems like they are reluctant to speak on the person whose right beside them. I, myself, is also guilty of this. This shows that there is someone/something on the other side of the screen that is way more important than themselves.

It affected the way I talk, instead of speaking normally we have this so called shortened vocabulary or abbreviated words like omg, lol, wtf and etc. According to Allison Graham, when we abbreviate our vocabulary, what we risk is losing the nuances, subtleties and intimate parts of our personality that make up our very rich vocabulary. I kept seeing words like these online and I started to get use to it and in which I personally use in certain occasions. It also affected the way I think about people around me. There vast stereotypes in which I can't enumerate but it is self-explanatory. This includes people that are into social media like mad lads, they just can't stop using their phones wherever they are. Although, these kind of people existed there are also people that are kind of "lowkey" in terms of social media, these are the people that uses social media not very often. It also affected how I communicate, before, we have to send mails or telegrams. But in our era we can reach out to people digitally, we have apps for communication and such. Social Media also helped me in solving my problems academically, I personally use SNS for academic purposes. It also served as my coping mechanism in times of trouble.

Social media changed me drastically since birth. Back in the day social media is only for privileged people because they are the ones that could afford smartphones/devices. Looking in the present, almost all of us have smartphones that are used for variety of reasons. Therefore, I can say that social media changed me as per to who I am right now as a person. Although, there are good sides in using social media, there are also bad sides. The good sides are academic use and for strengthening knowledge as it gives us an advantage in our era. The bad side is social media influenced lots of people in our generation, it shaped some of us to be bad. I personally become unsocial when someone that doesn't have the same views or general knowledge about a certain topic/issue. I believe that in our today's society, knowledge is power and it can be an advantage compare to those who believed in anything. I became unsocial in a way that I really don't want to interact with them just because they are not knowledgeable about our today's issues.

My parents told me about this kind of topic in our household. As far as I remember, they are not against for me to use social media. As far as I'm concerned, I know my limitations as a user online. And, as a son/daughter of my family, I know my responsibilities to be a good example for young generation and to use social media in ways that can help me grow as a person. As I said, my parents don't have any restrictions to me when it comes to online communications because they have trust in me that I will use it in good way and for educational purposes only.
