It is mostly clean and fresh and slightly colder than inland.<br><br><strong>Water</strong>: The water at the sea is seawater. Seawater is water that makes up the oceans and seas covering more than 70% of Earth's surface.<br>----------------------------<br><strong>Living Things Present In The Habitat</strong>~<br><strong>Animals</strong>: There are barnacles, limpets, whelks, algae and periwinkles found on the rocks on this zone. Other animals such as crabs and sea stars are not as common in the area as it gets little seawater.<br><br><strong>Plants</strong>: There are many plants like, Sea Palms, Sea Lavenders and Fairy Fan Flower.<br>----------------------------<br><strong>Non-Living Things Present In The Habitat</strong>~</div><blockquote>There are sand, water, wind, rocks and water on the beach.          <description><![CDATA[<div>Title: Coral Reef<br>Group: Group 8<br>~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~<br><strong>Factors of the environment:<br></strong><br></div><div><strong>Air:</strong> Aquatic animals in the coral reefs take in dissolved oxygen in the water.<br><br></div><div><strong>Temperature:</strong> Coral reefs grow in water temperatures between 23°-29°Celsius.Some of the coral reefs can withstand&nbsp;</div><div>temperatures <strong>as high as 40° Celsius- but only for short periods</strong>. Rising and falling temperatures of&nbsp;<br>water can cause the coral reefs to lose a type of algae called zooxanthellae which will result in "coral bleaching"</div><div>and the coral turns completely white<br><br></div><div><strong>Water:</strong> Coral reefs are confined to tropical and semi-tropical waters. Coral Reefs need clear water to survive&nbsp;</div><div>and they do not thrive well when the water is opaque.&nbsp; Sediment and plankton can cloud the water, which decreases the amount of sunlight that reaches the zooxanthellae. Corals Reefs contribute to helping our water stay clean.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Food: </strong>Corals provide the zooxanthellae with a home, and in exchange, the zooxanthellae provide the polyps with the food they generate through photosynthesis. Because photosynthesis requires sunlight, most reef-building corals live in clear, shallow waters that are penetrated by sunlight., but corals also have a ring of stinging tentacles around each mouth in the colony, which are used to capture food such as zooplankton.<br><br><strong>Light: </strong>There is light in the sea for the plants that are the source of food for the corals as plants need light for photosynthesis so light is present even underwater.<br><br></div><div><strong>The living things present in Coral Reefs:</strong></div><blockquote><strong>Fish, corals, lobsters, clams, seahorses, sponges, and sea turtles</strong> are only a few of the thousands of creatures</blockquote><div><br><strong><em>The Non-Living things present in coral reefs.</em></strong></div><blockquote><em>Non-living things present in coral reefs are </em><strong><em>air, water, sunlight, soil, and minerals.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Habitat: Coral Reef<br>Group: Group 7&nbsp;</strong></div><div>&nbsp;</div><div><strong>Light, Air and availability of food:</strong> Despite their population, Coral reefs are home to 25 percent of marine life. They need to be in clear and unpolluted areas as sunlight is needed for algae called Zooxanthellae to undergo photosynthesis to produce oxygen and food. Polyps and other marine animals who live in coral reefs use the food and oxygen provided. Oxygen is used to respire. In return, Zooxanthellae are provided a home by these coral reefs.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Water and Temperature</strong>:&nbsp; Coral reefs live in tropical and semi-tropical waters as sea surface temperature cannot be lower than 17-18 degrees celsius. However, sea temperature rise can cause coral bleaching which is a threat to marine life.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Living things that live in Coral reefs:</strong></div><div>Polyps, Butterfly Fish, Parrotfish, Grouper, Angelfish, Damselfish, Wrasse, Trumpet fish, Toby(Puffer fish family), etc.</div><div><br><strong>Non living things:</strong></div><div>air, water, sunlight, soil, and minerals (<strong>things that are needed for living things to survive</strong>.)</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Interactions</strong>: Parrotfish eat the algae as coral reefs will be smothered with algae if not attended to.&nbsp;</div><div>Puffers inflate themselves if they are in danger.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Title: Desert </strong><br><strong>Group: </strong>Group 4 <br><br><strong>Light</strong>: As there are virtually no trees to block the sunlight, there is lots of light for the plants to trap and photosynthesis. The high amount of light in the desert is due to its lack of shade, which blocks sun rays.<br><br><strong>Temperature</strong>: There is no doubt that the desert is dry and hot. The intense heat makes it impossible for many living things to survive, and those that do must find a way to avoid it.<br><br><strong>Water</strong>: Except for the occasional oasis, there is very little water here. Plants and animals in the desert need water to survive, so water is a godsend. It is known, however, that some plants like cactuses, which are often found in the desert, actually store water inside of them.	<br><br><strong>Air: </strong>The air in the desert is hot and humid. Air in the desert can often sweep up sand and create what we call sandstorms, making it hard for both animals and humans crazy enough to visit the desert to see.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Food</strong>: In the desert, most animals feed on other animals. Essentially, they rely on other animals and plants for food. They are able to produce their own food through photosynthesis. As sunlight is absorbed by plants, it is transferred to prey and then to predators.<br><br>~~~~~~~~~~~~~</div><div><strong>Living things</strong>: There are many animals in the desert such as the hummingbird, cicadas, desert snakes, Fennec foxes and more. Common animals such as Coyote , Lynx, Tarantula, Tortoise , Camels, and Scorpions. There are plants too. Mostly cactuses as we all know and the flowers growing on them. Crickets and other insects like spiders live among leaf piles.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>Non living things:</strong> In the desert, there are healthy plants and leaves, but there are also plants that dry up due to the heat. The ground is often littered with dead leaves.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Interactions:</strong> To make food, plants trap sunlight. Plants feed herbivores, animals feed animal eaters, and animal eaters feed plant eaters. Plants such as cacti provide shelter and shelter for small animals such as birds. In addition to what was mentioned, some people are interested in visiting the desert and spending the effort to travel across the land to see popular tourist attractions such as pyramids and Sphinx structures.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Title: <strong>Pond</strong><br>Group: Group 1<br><br><strong>Light:</strong> There is light in the pond so that the animals living in the pond can see where they are going. Hence, light is in the pond for animals to see.<br><br></div><div><strong>Temperature: </strong>The normal temperature for most ponds is between 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. It must not be too hot or too cold as the animals living in the pond will die if so.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Air: </strong>There is dissolved oxygen in the water for the animals to take in.<br><br></div><div><strong>Food: </strong>&nbsp;Fish in a <strong>pond</strong> can live on <strong>foods</strong> like plankton, floating <strong>pond</strong> plants, and the tiny roots of <strong>pond</strong> plants floating in the water, as well as the larvae of insects, worms, and other small animals. Unfortunately a natural <strong>food</strong> supply is not always perfect or abundant year-round, so your <strong>pond</strong> fish will need to be fed with commercial fish <strong>food</strong>.</div><div><br><strong>Living things - Animals</strong></div><div>There are animals such as Dragonfly, Pond Skater, Mayfly, Water measurer, Water boatman, Water snail, Water stick insect, Great diving beetle, Water scorpion, Tadpole, Frogs, Whirligig Beetles, Water spider, Backswimmer, Kohaku, Mudskipper, Goldfish, Apple snail, Toad, Salamanders. There are non living things present such as broken tree log, sand and rocks. There unicellular organisms such as amoeba, paramecium and a number of ciliates.&nbsp;</div><div><br><strong>Living things - Plants</strong></div><div>Lily Pad, Clover, Monkeyflower, Taro Pond Plants, hydrilla, lotus, water lettuce<br><br><strong>Non living things&nbsp; <br></strong>Soil and rock present at the bottom, water and soluble organic and inorganic nutrients, dirt and sunlight.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Interactions:</strong> People go to the pond to feed the animals living there, its is a quiet place to sit and have peace especially after having a stressful day.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Title:</strong> Trees <br><strong>Group:</strong> Group 3<br>------------------------<br><strong>Factors of the environment:<br><br>Temperature:</strong> Trees provide an evaporative cooling effect that can decrease local air temperatures by several degrees Celsius. They cool the air by evaporating water through their leaves and also moderate the temperature of the ground surface by shading it from direct sunlight.<br><br><strong>Air:</strong> The air is fresh because of the trees' photosynthesis. Water is absorbed by the trees' roots and escapes into the air through a process called transpiration.<br><br><strong>Water:</strong> The trees absorb water and minerals from the soil via their roots. The water then escapes into the surrounding air by the leaves as water vapour during transpiration or hot weather.<br><br><strong>Light:</strong> The amount of light in these forests never changes as it never turns into winter and always stays as summer. Plants there need to climb up if they want sunlight as many trees block the light. They either climb trees that are tall and can reach sunlight or climb on its main stem. They climb up by lashing around their whip-like tendons and once they get a grip on one of their branches they start climbing up. Once they are high enough to receive sunlight they start spreading open their leaves.<br><br>------------------------<br><strong>Living thing present in trees:<br><br>Animals: </strong>A few of the many animals that can be found in trees are the orangutans, koalas, tarsiers, Monarch butterflies, gecko, greater gliders, gibbons, kinkajous, Eastern gray squirrels and the flying squirrels.<br><br><strong>Plants:</strong> Plants like ferns, epiphytes, mistletoes and mosses can grow on trees.<br><br>------------------------<br><strong>Non-living things present in trees:<br><br></strong>Non-living things like rocks, water, rain, air and sunlight are present in places where trees grow<br><br>------------------------<br><strong>Interactions observed in this habitat: </strong><br><br>Trees support the lives of many large organisms. Trees are used for food, shelter, and sites for reproduction. Many animals also use trees for resting, nesting and for places from which to hunt or capture prey. When the trees mature, animals are able to enjoy delicious fruits and foraging opportunities. Some animals also come here to hide and protect themselves from their predators.</div>]]></description>

In winter, temperatures can plummet to well below 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.778) in some areas. In summer, temperatures can reach above 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2222). Temperate grasslands receive low to moderate precipitation on average per year (32.2222 inches/81.8cm).<br><br>===============<br><br><strong><em>Availability of water:</em></strong><em> <br></em>Streams, vernal pools, playa lakes, and prairie potholes are bodies of water found in grasslands. Grasslands occur where it is too wet for deserts but too dry for forests. Native grassland vegetation also sequesters carbon.</div><div>&nbsp;<br>===============<br><br><strong><em>Food: </em></strong><br>Carnivores (lions, hyenas, leopards) feed on herbivores (impalas, warthogs, cattle) that consume producers (grasses, plant matter). Scavengers (hyenas, vultures) and decomposers/detritivores (bacteria, fungi, termites) break down organic matter, making it available to producers and completing the food web.<br><br>===============<br><br><strong><em>Interactions: </em></strong><br>Urban Development. The biggest impact that humans have on grasslands is by developing open areas for farming or urban development. Factors of the environment:<br>-Temperature: </strong>the temperature is usually cool because of the water there.<br><br><strong>-Air:</strong> the air on the wetlands is humid because of the water and sometimes hot especially in a hot day.<br><br><strong>-Water: </strong>the water is sometimes cloudy and muddy as mud will be mixed in it during a rain. <br><br><strong>2. Living Things present in the Habitat<br></strong><br><strong>-Animals : </strong>There are 190 species of birds, frogs, lizards, snakes, bat, kangaroo, fish, bugs. Animals like Damselfies, Skinks, Tilapia, Yellow Bittern etc.. lives there too. Wetlands are very important places for animals because they provide them with great habitat so they provide all the food, water and shelter that they need. Wetlands are also really important as places for refuge in times of drought. Fish, frogs and some birds will choose to breed in wetlands and raise the young to be in a safe place<br><br><strong>3. Non-living things present in the habitat<br></strong>-There are mud, water, rocks on the wetland<br><br><strong>4. Interactions Observed in the Habitat.<br></strong>-There are animals feeding on other animals there fore forming a wetland food web. A wetland food web can get pretty complicated. At the bottom we have plants which are eaten by the bugs, and birds and bugs might be eaten by some reptiles like lizards and also by frogs and fish which in turn are eaten by larger birds along with some smaller birds living in the mud. The worms, bees and crustaceans which are responsible for cleaning up the wetland and recycling the nutrients. These are also eaten by the larger birds too. There are so many things eating this and that in a wetland, it seems like a big tangled web but of course to those involved it is all perfectly natural.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Title: Mangrove swamp<br>Group: 5<br>-------------------------------------<br><strong>Factors of the environment:<br></strong><br><strong>Temperature</strong>&nbsp;</div><div>Mangroves are tropical species, surviving at temperatures <strong>above 66° F (19° C)</strong>, not tolerating fluctuations exceeding 18° F (10° C) or temperatures below freezing for any length of time.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Food<br></strong>Most of the birds in the mangrove swamp tend to eat the shrimp and crabs which live in the waters of the swamp. One of which is the well known kingfisher.</div><div><br><strong>Water<br></strong>Mangroves provide a distinctive ecological environment that differentiates them from other ecosystems. The mangrove swamp is characterized by tidal variations such that, at high tide, the mudflat is submerged with tidal water while at low tide the water recedes, making the mudflat dry and visible.</div><div><br><strong>Light</strong></div><div>Mangrove plants are long day plants thus it requires high intensity with long duration of full sunlight. This makes tropical coastal zones an ideal habitat.</div><div><br><strong>Air</strong></div><div>To avoid suffocation in the oxygen-poor mud, mangrove trees have roots that take in oxygen from the air. Called aerial roots, these have on their surface, special tiny pores to take in air (lenticels).
