My name is Jazmin Adylas Bernal, and I am 19 years old. This is my second semester at UTSA, and I am majoring in Kinesiology!

I come from Hispanic and Caucasian descent, being half Hispanic and half Irish. My mom's side of the family originates out of Spain, and they traveled to the US in the early 1900s. My fathers family originates out of Ireland and Scotland, and they completed their travels to the US in the late 1800s. I think it is amazing how what we look like traces back to centuries and centuries ago!

Growing Up

I was born in Seminole, Texas, where I spent the first year of my life. We moved to Pleasanton, Texas in 2005 for better career opportunities for my Mom, and we have lived here ever since! I always knew I wanted to attend UTSA, as Pleasanton is about 45 minutes away from San Antonio. It was a perfect amount of distance away from home, not too far, but far enough!

My Family

Family has always been a very big part of my life. My family acts as my biggest supporters, the people I go to for help or advice, and so so much more. I feel like growing up in a Hispanic household definitely added to that sense of needing to be around my family and the love I have grown for them. My mom is Rose, and she had me when she was 16! Talk about a warrior! I have two younger sisters, Juliana who is 15 and Jennalee who is 2. My father has never really been in my life, but my stepdad Wyatt stepped up and took on raising us! My love for them is unreal, and I could not be here without them.

The Other Half of my Heart

My beautiful boyfriend, Colin, has been in my life for 3 years now. He has helped me grow, become a better person, and overcome so many obstacles I have faced in my life. If I am not with my family, at work, or doing schoolwork, I am with him! He is truly an amazing person, and deserves the best and more.

Hobbies and Interests

Growing up, I have been known as the ´shopaholic´ in the family. But I do have to give it to them, I love shopping! Whether it be grocery shopping, thrift-shopping, or even walking around stores. I really enjoy being out and about, which also fuels my love for traveling. I have so many destination spots that I want to hit, and constantly cross spots off of my bucket list. My all time favorite place I have been is definitely Iowa. I know it doesn't sound too interesting, but it was truly beautiful! When I am not out doing things, I enjoy watching movies (preferably horror movies), and listening to music!

My Dream

Throughout my life, I have always shown an interest in the Medical field. For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to help others and care for others. To see people recover from surgeries, rebuild after injuries, and find enough will to push through and live their life is all I have ever wanted to do. I hope to one-day become a Physical Therapist, or a Sports Medicine Doctor.
