She graduated from the program at my school, and she is driven to help them understand the content. That humility and determination to help students is truly an appreciated asset. 

I have another student that loves to draw. I think this is an asset because it makes me want to create work that is colorful, and incorporate some of his drawings or his artistic skills in the classroom. 

I think I bring support and excitement in the classroom. I celebrate my students any time I get because I want them to know they are appreciated. 

My school community as an asset in terms of resources. There are so many activities and programs that occur to help the people in the community come together. We also have access to a network of individuals with a lot of school political power. We have translators. We have cultural points of contact for our student populations too. I act as a safe space for black and brown students that often get overlooked because their parent's names do not ring bells.

My students are helpful and loving. They are also very forgiving. In my classroom community, they are so supportive of everything that we do for the kids. Every time I asked parents for snacks, things for parties, having conversations with their students about things that may have happened, etc they are always there to support. They offer to come into the classroom and show up to support the kids because everyone's children are our children. 

2. I'm an asset to my students because I focus on who they are as humans and not only based on data. We have affirmations that remind them that they are important, loved, safe, and are getting better and better everyday. I noticed that when my students feel safe, loved, and heard, they begin to build confidence in academics. 

I'm an asset to my school because I have many projects that I'm working on to support parents (autism parent support group) and building a social skills library from scratch. 

I'm an asset to my school community because I focused heavily the human side of my parents. I don't judge or fault them. Instead I always ask how I can support. I try to be an individual asset to my school by providing a safe and comfortable space for students to learn, but have fun. I do daily lunch bunches which can sometimes be a lot when I want solitude, but I have my group of kids that prefer to hang with me in my room, which has become our thing. They all hate school lunch and love to heat up ramen lol so I keep seasonings and hot cause for my lunch bunch crew and allow them to use my microwave so they can eat and have a space to hang.

I also try to ensure I an available for students of all races. Working at Roland Park is interesting in terms of race/ equity because we are in Baltimore city, but predominantly white staff/community/etc. I find is easy to connect with my black/brown students, especially the girls since they gravity towards me, but I also have close relations with students that aren't black. I try to be intentional about this as a teacher so I do not show bias. (one reason I was interested in taking this AU course!)

I am so happy that, for the most part, they feel safe to try and make mistakes, knowing that being down or yourself and others is not tolerated in my room. They are super creative- artists, fashion designers, game designers,photographers, singers, content creators and writers. They are also scientists, mathematicians, and so much more. We have a black history month celebration tonight! 

Our greatest asset is the historical knowledge that we hold and share with our students about Lillie May, the building that we're in.  We also have 85% black women teachers, so the variety of experiences and perspectives that we have is amazing and offers different kinds of role models for our scholars.
