Nick and Gatsby prepare for Daisy to come to Nick's house, they buy flowers and tea before 4pm.

Nick and Gatsby prepare for tea with Daisy at Nick's house so Gatsby can reunite with her. It took place around 4 p.m. the day after Nick called Daisy.

In chapter five Nick and Gatsby are preparing a tea party at Nick's house to meet Daisy. Nick called Daisy the next morning to plan for the tea party to meet Gatsby.

In this scene in chapter 5, Nick and Gatsby are preparing Nick's house for a tea party with Daisy because they need to lure Daisy into a conversation with Gatsby with the element of surprise.

Nick and Gatsby prepare for the tea party at Nick's house after inviting Daisy so she and Gatsby can see each other. Nick perceives Gatsby as 'pale, and there were dark signs of sleeplessness beneath his eyes".

we notice that Gatsby offers Nick a side hustle in return for Nick's proposal for tea, which Nick declines because the tea is just a kind gesture. Nick picking up the meaning behind Gatsby's gesture helps influence how we view Gatsby as a generous soul.

Nick, he's being more compassionate due to caring about Gatsby and helping set up a tea party for him to meet Daisy. Going out of his way to get "Some cups and lemons and flowers." To just help out and prepare for the tea party.

We notice through Gatsby's "what grass" moment and how he was so quick to leave if Daisy was even a minute late that Gatsby doesn't work well under pressure/stress. through those interactions, we also notice that Nick is either very observant OR that Gatsby is easy to read when he is uncomfortable

An example from the chapter is Nick is a nice person who would do anything to help out a friend. "He waited, looking at me with suppressed eagerness. 'I talked to Miss Baker," I said after a moment. "I'm going to call up Daisy tomorrow and invite her over here for tea". A conflict he might face in the book is that this might backfire on him and something might go wrong at the tea party. Another example from the chapter, Gatsby is that he is impatient. He believed that ''nobody's coming to tea'' because it was getting too late while he was glancing at his watch.

We learned that Nick and Gatsby are begging to have a friendly relationships. "Why,I thought-why,look here,old sport you don't make much money,do you?"

Nick does have much money but he is doing this for Gatsby as a friend and Gatsby wants Nick's help to get with Daisy.

in chapter 5 we learned that gatsby is very mature and acts in an adult way.'' gatsby look through vacant eyes and he looked shocked. Nick doesn't have any choices. the conflict that Nick is facing is that it is very upcoming and confused. gatsby has been facing some things that are confusing with him very not self centered and he is not him self.

Imagery such as "there was a sharp line where my ragged lawn ended and the darker, well-kept expanse of his began" are used in this scene. This creates an image in our heads of how their grasses are different which could also be symbolic of the difference in working classification between Nick and Gatsby

Another piece of information Nick was using was using imagery when he was talking about his house saying "I was afraid for a moment that my house was on fire...corner of peninsula was blazing with light". This explains how Nick was thinking that his house was on fire but was explaining how the fire looked when awakened

the figurative language that was used in the scene of what happened is '' the flowers were unnecessary, at the green house. the evidence shows that they use figurative language. '' gatsby walking toward me across his lawn.

An example of figurative language is in the scene when Nick gives his protective knowledge of how Gatsby looked. In Nick's words he "was pale, and there were dark signs of sleeplessness beneath his eyes". This might have an impact our interpretation of this scene because he seems different from when Nick first met him.

The first scene of chapter 5 has this feeling of eariness and anxiousness that opposes the short-lived happy tone of Gatsby's party in chapter 3.

At the beginning of the scene, we see that Gatsby appears to be ready for tea with Daisy but we see in reality that he isn't when he tries to leave but Nick stops him.

A scene that serves as a counterpoint to the scenes in Chapter 5 is the party scene in Chapter 3. In chapter 3 Gatsby "smiled understandingly-much more than understandingly." According to Nick, he had a "rare smile" which contributed to how he acted until chapter 5. In Chapter 5 Gatsby acts totally differently, he is acting "miserably" and inpatient.

The themes of the scene were love and hope. Gatsby waited for Daisy for years to see again. So he wanted to host tea at Nick's house so he can see the love of his life again.
