Pretend you are a 6th grade student, analyzing the Pacific Northwest Tree Octopus website. 1) Identify one reason you would not use this website with a younger student.
2) Identify one element of the website that could confuse a student. Be sure to cite specific evidence and/or take a screenshot!

I would not use this website for younger students or older students. It is made up of mostly lies. There is no such thing as the Tree Octopus, but it could confuse students because it is written as if it is a real animal. If a students who did not know much about animals were to read this, they might think it is true. There are some videos about giant squids that are probably real, so this could also confuse students. If you go to zapatopi.net you see that it is all about hoaxes and conspiracies. This does show you how easily people can be fooled. (along with the example of the MLK pic that is a KKK site-that is scary!!) One thing I do not like about the internet.

I would not use this website with a younger student because they would be too distracted by the font and cartoon images to stop and think if it was a reliable source. I think the actual photo of the octopus would be confusing for students because they would assume photos mean it is a real website.
