  • In cold countries, a green house is made with glass walls to protect and grow plants.
  • Why glass walls?
  • they transmit visible light & thermal radiations of short wavelength coming from the sun.
  • These radiations are absorbed by plants & air inside it. Thus, the air inside the house of glass walls becomes warm in the day time.
  • After sunset, the warm objects inside the green house emit heat radiations of long wavelength which cannot pass through glass, so they are reflected back by the glass walls inside the green house. Thus, the air inside the green house remains warm at night also as the heat is trapped inside the greenhouse& an appt. temp. is provided for plants to grow.
