I think that UDL gives all students the opportunity to reach the same goal or their own goal through different ways, through different means of representation as it gives different Learning options. In this way everybody, SEN students included, can choose how they can best express what they have learnt. In Italian schools the big problem is the huge number of students that are in the same classroom, so it's not Always easy to do that.

The UDL is beneficial because learners peculiar methods of learning are included.Each person in class feels a sense of belonging and can make sense from the activiities in class.The challenge however is for the teacher to take the pain to plan an inclusive lesson.Sometimes the teacher write a learner off that no matter the strategy such a person can not learn or they do not want to carry out different assessment methods.

Inclusive education should include all of the arrangements for teachers, students, schools and the whole environment. For example, the teacher should try to disseminate his / her organization for a disabled student as much as possible throughout the school. Thus, the studies for the student will be more meaningful.

I think UDL is a great strategy not only for SEN students but for others students too and, why not, for the teachers because we learn how to teach differentely the students based on their needs. The barriers to UDL implementation in my school would be, first of all, the lack of some technology, for example: some of my students, with disabilities or not, dont have the possibility to own a tablet or a laptop. we have 3 informatics laboratory but is not enough for our students. We have in our school 700-800 students and is difficult to have acces in this laboratories all the time.

UDL is a great strategy...but one question was on my mind while I was looking the video....so, if we always encourage students to work on a way that they can succeed, how can we, in the same time, encourage them to try learning in some other way? Can we as teachers fall in a trap that we encourage students success only in one way? Example, through visual method or movement method...
For UDL tehnology in a classroom could be the biggest problem. Many schools can’t afford things that would be in the best interests of SEN student.

Each area of the curriculum should provide multiple, varied, and flexible options for representation, expression and engagement (goals, methods, materials and assessment). The purpose of UDL is to create expert learners who can assess their own progress, regulate and sustain their interest, effort and persistence during the learning task. Using UDL, we make it easier and more interesting lessons for our pupils. They make it easier for them to communicate with their friends, they are more likely to learn what they need. I think that UDL-based interventions can effectively make education inclusive for all students, not only for those with certified SEN. Children can meet learning difficulties at any stage in their lives, because of family or health problems, sometimes just because they are growing and changing. Giving everybody the opportunity to experiment different means of expressing themselves, of getting information, of learning strategies can maximize everybody's success and make them discover their own talents. Unfortunately, in Italy I think we lack above all human resources. Just severe disabled students can have the help of a personal teacher, otherwise teachers are alone with 20/25 students, many of them not native speakers, 3 or 4 of them with dyslexia, or attention deficit disorder or hyperactivity. There are no laptops, nor tablets for children and sometimes not even a gym in the school. Moreover, not all teachers are appropriately trained, so it can be difficult to make some changes in the school organization which could be useful fo all.

I think UDL could be a real booster in education, but in some schools in Italy there are still many problems to deal with before implementing it.
For example, there are no devices in the classrooms or the devices we have are very old (some schools use PC with XP on), there is no internet connection or it is really slow, classes have many students (average 25).
Sometimes students don't have a personal device or an internet connection at home.

I was impressed watching the videos, but in the same time jealous! I am very convinced that UDL support inclusion at a very high level, due to its principles and methods. It is crucial for each student to learn according to his own rhythm and interests. Implementing UDL is a different story...I think main barriers are the big number of children , the lack of supporting assistants and of course, the lack of infrastructure!

What a beautiful schools! It's a fairy tale! My school is very different: no allow to use mobile phone, no computers in classroom, no interactive whiteboards, no large classroom, no allow to create virtual classes for fear to new privacy law.
Parents are even wary of using computer at home.

UDL seems to be very helpful. Each student is given an opportunity to participate and contribute to classes. However, it can be difficult to implement UDL due to time constraints. You have to carefully think about different classroom settings, which requires time. Furthermore, my school would lack the technological infrastructure to implement UDL.

What if the special educational needs child is very negative about everything around, with every constructive tool, every tip, every step-by-step to organization, arrogant, never reaching for oppotunities, day in, day out. Compliments do not help, PDFs of worksheets are not filled in, reducing amount of work, other assignments,... then you can offer a lot, but you also reach a limit at times.

i think every teacher, for special needs or not, has already realized some of the principles of the Universal Design for Learning. Mostly when we are working with "difficult" students is normal try a strategy to improve our lessons. So, we grow as teacher.
I m in according with the ideas of the Universal DEsign for Learning... Perhaps the only problem is time: time to prepare, to teach.. in a word which ask us always more...ans runs

I think that the key point of the UDL framework in regards to inclusive education is flexibility in the classroom. Or in other words not using the traditional methods of teaching (one way to teach all students), but finding and using different methods and techniques that can enhance the student’s strengths and needs, rather than their weaknesses.
The possible barriers to using the UDL framework in my school would be the teacher's mindsets or their openness to changes.

The Universal Design for Learning is methodological option, based on flexible curricular models, systematic monitoring of the effectiveness of the continuum of implemented interventions, according to the educational responses necessary for each student to acquire a common base of competences, valuing their potential and interests. It is difficult to implement because many teachers are resistant to change and have extensive curricula to comply, which does not allow them to make the necessary flexibility. UDL looks amaizing and it is helpfull not only for SEN kids but for teachers as well. I think that teachers who are working with kids and even without SEN, most of them are using one or another kind of UDL. In my school it would be difficult, the teachers and classrooms are not prepare for technologies. Most of teachers have lack of knowldeges and motivation to let go traditional teaching (that tehy been working for 15-20 years) and go out of comfort zone to learn something different. But it would be great for kids that are unique and different. And of course it would make learning more interesting for modern kids.

UDL does support inclusive education. The film shown proves it. But... You need to have access to many technlogical devices which is not always possible. What is more, in my school the main aim is to preapre students for their lated academic education. They have to take the exams, follow the curricullum and the lessons are short. Sad, but true.

The film looks great... but I think there is a long way until the inclusive lessons work like this. I'm sure, that it will be a big advance for ALL pupils to work with UDL. But in my school the technological devices could be a problem. And, if I think on my SEN pupils... for some of them it is not possible to use a "normal" notebook.

I think all the teachers who work with students with SEN and apply UDL, though they do not call it so. Adapting each student with regard to opportunities and needs requires a constant flexibility from the teacher so each student can show their potentials in different areas.My classroom is not technologically sufficient, but through other activities we encourage student development in total development.

I really like the film. But I think, in many schools it will be difficult to do it like in the video.
In my former school, where I had kids with SEN (I was a school assistence) , I had no ressources/money to buy e.g. a laptop. ALL kids had to do the same learning stuff...that was very sad for me to watch... The only thing I changed was, that I moved to another room everytime when my kid needs a break....sad but true :(

I apply UDL in my classroom because I`m lucky to have well equipped school. But honestly, I don`t know how it would work in some other,less modern and equipped schools.

I think the UDL supports inclusive education. You can give information in many ways so every child can learn. So the most important things in UDL-based interventions are representation, action and expression and engagement of the student. It's inclusive education for sure. Think about the 3 topics of inclusion. Members, skills and relationships. These items are also important in UDL-based interventions. At our school we do a lot of UDL-based interventions. I try to give information in many different ways. I prove a lot of engagement options and tasks to gather and process information.

Só à pouco tempo tomei conhecimento do UDL, parece-me um método a aplicar para todos os alunos e não só para os alunos SEN.
As principais barreiras na minha escola serão a falta de material informático de acesso para todos os alunos, a falta de formação dos professores sobre este UDL e o elevado número de alunos por sala.
Além disso o tempo para o trabalho colaborativo (programar e criar material diversificado) entre os professores é pouco pois o horário lectivo é grande e a burocracia ENORME!

UDL, I love the idea it can be used to improve the learning environment by giving a chance to each child to learn. Each child has a different learning style . By using the UDL I can be more ready to teach . Meanwhile, We have too many technological devices in Turkey to teach better. For instance, we have interactive boards in every classroom, we have one computer labratory in our school. The main issue is teachers perspective to inclusive education. Sometimes they just don't want to incluse all students unfortunately.

I have never heard of UDL before. It looks good. Some basic ideas of UDL are really used in everyday classroom such as the recruitment of pupils’ interest, the clarification of vocabulary, syntax, symbols & structure etc.

I think that the use of UDL will be easier for the subject of music (the subject I teach) as the curriculum of music is an open one (at least in Greece).

On the other hand, the infrastructure of my school is too poor (in comparison with the one I saw in the videos) to support UDL in the way that I saw in the video. So I have to “adapt” UDL to the infrastructure which is available in the school I work.

The idea and theories of differentiation are really alluring. In practice though, the main obstacle in my teaching situation to apply a UDL-framework would be lack of space. Classrooms are too small in relation to the number of students to allow for various seating arrangements in order to cater of different to approaches towards the same goal.

As I understand it, UDL is about making the teaching-learning process flexible, which includes showing information in different ways, allowing students to perform and present tasks in varied ways, and offering options that can actually motivate and make students feel engaged.

I think, possible barriers to UDL implementation in my school may involve things like lack of time to do study, do research and create a set of ways of showing information that is varied and adequate to suit the different students’ SEN, and that can actually motivate students, engage them and make them progress.

I think that at least in part we try to do something similar, to use different strategies with different students, but it's often difficult, if not impossible, because in our classrooms there aren't enough multimedia tools and teachers work in classes of 25/26 students or more, too many to implement UDL

Universal Design for Learning - this model advocates principles regarding pedagogical practices allowing students with different abilities to be part of the common learning, preventing situations of application of specific programs.

Learning activities should be planned in such a way that they are flexible and accessible to all learners, implying that it is defined in the various components of the curriculum: clear objectives, differentiated strategies, diversified resources and materials and the use of different modes of assessment.

I think UDL means we teachers should first of all simplify contents for the all group; second we should pay attention to the needs of each student and find a way to catch his/her interest, exploiting not only the technology but also students' passions. It's on their passions that teachers can personalize, make education engaging and richer. Barriers to this personalization of education are old and bad practices teachers are attached to. How do UDL- based interventions support inclusive education?
Working with Early Years children I have always felt very strongly about accommodating each child's different personality, individuality, strengths and ways in which they learn. Quite often this means as a teacher you need to observe the children through their play and interaction with other students and the activities and resources in the classroom to find out more about who they are. By incorporating a UDL approach, the children grow a love of learning, they become happy and content in coming to school, recognising that the environment is a safe place to feel accepted, learn from others and share their own interests and talents.
What are the possible barriers to UDL implementation in school?
The possible barriers largely come back to the adults involved in the school. The lack of understanding across all the teaching and support staff of how to provide for diversity can hinder success in implementing a UDL approach. All staff need to be in board with encouraging inclusion throughout the school. For this to happen, colleagues need to be educated and supported with ways to improve learning for all. The challenges of providing a differentiated curriculum need to be overcome and parents also need to be supported in accepting that sometimes an individualised programme is put in place so that their child can get the maximum support whilst at school.

UDL- based interventions support every learner in the class not only SEN students. The methods we use for SEN students can also benefit a number of students- I had not thought about that before. I know physically some changes to schools could be hard- but not impossible. Out school recently put a lift in our school. We are lucky we had the resources to do this and it has benefited disabled students but also, parents with push chairs, staff carrying heavy items and veterans who visit the school.

For our special students at our school, there are a series of picture books that have been developed by UDL teachers.ASSISTANT STUDENTS HAVE HELPING STUDENTS.

It will wonderful to have these strepitous conditions of environment in the school of my children, unfortunately it isn't so. . As I told last week two months ago I had an exam in Pedagogy of Inclusion, and I learned how is important the UDL. I would like to have UDL available in all our schools in Italy ☺️

The use of the UDL method seems to me an excellent opportunity, not only for students with special educational needs, as for all students.
In my school, the difficulties would be centered on the lack of computer resources (can be overcome with the use of smartphones) and the lack of training of the teachers to use new pedagogical tools and educational platforms. This, it seems to me, is the challenge of the future.
Until then, the classrooms (I wish they were learning environments) will remain expositive, routine and massive.

I didn't know anything about UDL before this course and I found it very helpful as it pushes me to pause and reflect on this new concept and its principles (what, why and how). We are called to provide a multiple range of options to enhance the personalized learning of each child, everyday, in order to minimize the barriers and optimize learning.

In my classes in Italy the possible obstacles would be:

-Short Time (better cooperative learning pathways are often time consuming)

-Lack of Specialized teachers (their presence would greatly improve the flexibility and accessibility of activities

-Lack of Innovative learning environments (classrooms equipped with flexible furniture and special tools/desks if necessary).

It is learning in an easier and more interesting way, and students will become motivated and interested in it. After a good reflection on UDL implementation in my school, I’ve understood pretty well what it really means. It’s a great idea, but.. I’m an experienced teacher and so far I’ve come across different methods and approaches to teaching but right now, I feel so frustrated because I feel somehow that in spite of my plan, when I enter the classroom I can’t really realise what I intended to teach. I can’t reach them all. Some of them don’t bring anything to school. Some of them won’t listen. Some of them just play with their mobiles. I think we lack time, materials, students’ attention and I wonder how to reconcile all that? Theory is great, but the situation in the classroom is very bad. Our classrooms are very poorly equipped and I don’t have my own classroom so every day I’m somewhere else. I have to carry with me my equipment and everything. I think we definitely need some help to realise what we plan, at least in my situation.

I find a big problem: we are the teachers who often have special needs and we do not advance in new knowledge and new methods. UD supports the classroom by addressing and meeting the individual needs of each child within his or her particular learning style and interests. When the teacher takes an inventory of each child’s interests and learning style and tailors the lessons plans according to those inventories, each child will benefit greatly within the learning environment with such supports at hand; whereby, no child will “fall between the cracks” with such interventions. One drawback is the great amount of time it would take to develope tailor-made lessons and frameworks around which each child is learning.

The fact is I actually do try to make my lessons easier for the SEN students with difficulties, but the amount of work is overwhelming and if I consider my other students it seems that I should be preparing differently same lesson for each of them.

UDL supports inclusive education…but for it to really function we in Croatia need so much more than we have. UDL-based interventions are a great idea….but for one teacher to cover it all for each student in the class in my opinion is quite impossible if that teacher has 20 or so students in that class.
Other possible barriers: educated teachers, equipment, support of specialists.....

UDL is great for deployment in inclusive classrooms, but we generally have problems with classroom fitting and lack of technology to use it. Most students are not interested in teaching, we can not reach them as much as they planned and did their classes. Trying to apply different teaching methods always finds a couple of students who are bored of it, and this is frustrating. We do not have time or enough material (most of which we have to finance ourselves). In my school I do not have my classroom, but every hour I change my classroom and I need to carry all the necessary equipment with me.

The big advantage is that te stronger students can help the students with special needs. You can make mixed groups. One of the barriers is the ammount of work for the preparation of this lessons and also during the lessons. To support all the student in a good way, you need 2 teachers or small groups. UDL is great for inclusion, one of the biggest problems I have is lack of preparation, that's the reason why I am taking this course, because I need clues. Another problem which is linked to the previous one is time, I need time to surf the net looking for apps to be used in the class, and to prepare more individualized lessons, I guess that once I have prepared some and discovered new and good apps it would be easier.

Even though I haven't known the name for this method, my colleagues and I have been trying to use its features, or do something similar in our classrooms. Variation and diversity lead only to higher motivation and participation of all students, not just SEN students. However, classes are too big, the load of work overwhelming, and sometimes you just don't have material conditions or enough time to do such a lesson.

One of the major challenges facing the current school is the search for adequate answers for all students who attend it, especially for those with SEN. The current school model presupposes a Special Education that is an integral part of the education system, based on the diversity and individuality of each of the students. This type of education is based on the notion of standardization, in which children and young people with SENs must develop their learning process in a non-restricted and standardized environment, using programs and resources appropriate to their needs. UDL gives all students the opportunity to learn at their own rhythms. It is engaged in a "taking care of the individual" process. Education is not seen as a global, fixed block but as something flexible. One of the main barrier for me is the cost: iPad and laptops for kids who needs them. I think that Universaql Design for Learning could be very useful in any classroom, because it offers the flexibility and the possibility of adjustment to every student’s strengths and needs. Staffing and space is a major conflict in many settings of our school. The classrooms were designed to hold 25 kids and have 35 in them. I think that UDL-based interventions in teaching are a very useful way to facilitate inclusion, as they are based on the assumption that every student is a different human being with his/her own learning style, experiences and background. UDL represents a real student-centered approach. It would be great if all disciplines in a curriculum were taught according to the UDL guidelines. In my school this could be possible, as in every classroom there is a smart board, we have a number of tablets that students can use under the supervision of a teacher and we also have a 2.0 classroom. But teacher training is crucial, and unfortunately, not all the teachers are willing to implement the use of technology in their teaching. Moreover, for some disciplines, teachers have a very limited amount of hours per week (for example I only have two hours of lessons a week in each class) and my classes are very crowded. So here come the same old problems again: overcrowded classes and little time at our disposal. So, sometimes, it happens that teachers who would like to experience innovative strategies for their classes cannot do it because of the lack of time.

When I learn about UDL, I think about Multiple Intelligence Theory by Gardner. According to him cultural and biological factors about intelligence formation. It represents different intellectual abilities and different learning styles should be developed as individual approaches. ( visual, auditory, kinaesthetic, impulsive and reflective, right or left brain etc.) Learning is fluid and complex and it is important to avoid labeling students as one type of learner and labeling inclusive students as difficult learners. When I explain above all Art History I often involve the student who is passionate about this subject and follows with interest. UDL needs a good amount of creativity and devotion on the teacher's part, because he/she has to produce different materials, tools and ways of proposing these materials. That means lots of time, planning interventions carefully and in advance,( but sometimes maybe quick adjustments in the short term are needed). Lots of effort is required. UDL of course seems very motivating and useful but it is possible that both students and parents need to be gradually made used to this way of teaching, especially in small, traditional social and teaching contexts like mine, for example. This might be a barrier to implementation. Another one might be (and is in my school) the lack of tools and stuctures, spaces and equipment (or simetimes there are but aren't working well), besides specific teacher formation

I think that the UDL is a model that every teacher must adopt. However it is not easy to use it because there are overpopulated classrooms and few reasources to us, for example ICT labs and interactive whiteboards.

In Portugal we are witnessing a paradigm shift in education. Recently, two legal diplomas were published, one on the flexibility and autonomy of schools and the other that defines a diversity of measures, multilevel application, with the objective of any student succeeding respecting their self-determination in the course. The latter is based on the DUA. This is the first time we are in contact with a work methodology that is based on the intentional and flexible planning of pedagogical practices, respecting the diversity of students in the classroom.
My school has a very rich human capital, both technical and humanistic. However, in my opinion, there will be several barriers to the application of the DUA: lack of teacher training; fears inherent in change that can create some resistance; classrooms with many students; lack of human resources; extensive and very rigid curricula; time for teachers to share their difficulties, plan and reflect on their practice.
However, I believe we will be able to achieve, with collaborative work, motivation and conviction that it is the best for our students. I hope to be right.

Similarly to the barriers outlineb by other teachers in the cohort, there is a myriad of obstacles to be overcome, at financial, spatial, technology-availability, parental and even management level. What is more, there needs to be as far as the school’s conceptualisation of Special Educational Needs so as to make inclusive education a whole school project, one that will involve all the teachers, the Board and the Senior Management Team, as well as the parents.

2.In Italian schools the main barriers to the UDL MPLEMENTATION could concern the national curriculum. My school is part of a cluster. In this cluster, as in the majority of schools, management and the general organization of staff and other resources isn't in favour of UDL (though they are not against it). Theoretical UDL is a great tool to support an inclusion. In fact, I think a large part of us teachers already uses such an approach, especially with SEN students. Of course, modern technology plays a major role in the implementation of this approach, making it more interesting and responsive for students. It is also a fact that most schools do not have enough technology. In my school, we have 3 smartboards for approximately 1,500 students. We have very old computers that are used exclusively for IT classes. But the main barrier to using UDL, from my perspective, is the number of students in the classroom. I personally have 230 to 270 students a year studying German. Although I am trying to implement personalized teaching, I honestly think that I do not always succeed in doing so. Anyway, I consider UDL to be a great tool that leads to the right goal.

UDL tools are supporting pupils with SEN but not only them. I think they are very useful but it is hard to prepare all the lessons in that way in the class with 20 students. I have 20 pupils with my class, and 8 of them are SEN, (f ex. dyslexia, ADD). I use some of the IT technology on my lessons but I haven't got tablets or laptops for my students. I prepare worksheets, various plays, drama, exercises with different level of difficulties for example with reading comprehension. I have additional materials for my SEN pupils to make at home. They bring them back and during my remedial classes we work together. But my dream is to have 15 pupils in my class, laptops, tablets, additional materials and work without time pressure...
to have understanding parents who know that the marks are not most important and not everyone has to finish studies to be worthy man.
In Poland parents expectations are vey high and for many of them the knowledge is most important than relationsip.

UDL-based interventions sound great in theory, every student could get personalised learning approach and everyone could benefit from it, BUT I really don't know how would I find time to identify everyone of my students needs and interests and to prepare content for every one. Even if I did so, I'm not sure how could I manage everything in the classroom since we don't have many SEN assistants (or at all).
I should look more into that and try to find answers to my questions.

UDL interventions create learning environment in a way that every child can learn at his own pace, to the extent that is appropriate for him and in a way that best suites him. So it's not just about SEN students, it's benefitiary for all students because they all have different learning styles, motivation, cultural or other background, rythym, way of expression…

There are two types of barriers to UDL implementation in my school.

The first one is objective because it's imposted with the education politics in my country. I'm working in a secondary school that has both general education and vocational education programmes. The goal for general education programme on this level is to prepare students to continue their education at the institutions that provides higher education programmes. So it's obvious that children with lower mental abbilities can't attend this kind of programme. In vocational education programmes the goal is to prepare students to be able to work in the field of their programme. So, if a school don't have the licence to provide assistance programs (for instance assistant cook or assistant waiter) then the student with significantly low mental abbilities can't attend it. On the secondary education level it's not that common that regular vocational schools have the licence to provide assistance programmes and those kids usually go to the special school. But I have to say that it's only for a severe difficulties that it's obvious that student couldn't work with the needed level of independence and responsibility.

The second one is subjective because it regards our school. OK, it's true that we have teachers working in many different programmes and our classes have from 20 to 25 students so it isn't easy to create UDL in every subject every time. But basically, it will all come down to the one thing – the teacher's attitudes. Most of them are willing to create such an environment but some of them are not. They will complain at the number of students, not having enough resources, their lack of special education knowledge, lack of ICT competencies, the demands of curriculum, limited time for engaging the curriculum and so on. For me, this kinds of barriers are greater than administrative ones.

As many of my Italian colleagues have already expressed, the restrictions for the application of the UDL guidelines, clash with the rules and the management of the times and the environments and the often very old equipment. We face the difficulties of integration with individual capacities and will, too often.The classes are often composed of 20 to 25 students, where they increasingly present students with devious needs to cope with, and too often, today more than ever, families distracted and not at all to the indications that teachers propose. Too often it is a lonely path. But there will always be a spark that illuminates our path. To teach !The tools we have available are there, but too often teachers are not involved as much as necessary, such as the NIV Commission (INTERNAL ASSESSMENT CORE). The bureaucratic apparatus is farraginous, and fails to respond to the needs, sometimes immediate response. Too often being a teacher involves being a lawyer, engineer, trade unionist, electrician, computer technician, getting lost in the sea of papers to fill out

The greatest issue in my school is not new to most colleagues - the amount of students for class and the lack of assistance in class by teaching assistants, for instance. Also, it takes a lot of time to take into account all the UDL-guidelines. How could I do it teaching five different levels, two different languages in classes with more than 20 pupils? It's sometimes frustrating because I am highly motivated and want to be a highly inclusive teacher but most of the time doing my best (still far from all the guidelines) takes me quality time with my family and weekends. For example, I am taking this non-compulsory training, working on Sunday and I still haven't planned tomorrow's lessons!

I really believe in UDL. I try to incorporate principles of UDL into my teaching. I think about the possible obstacles that students might encounter at certain times of the class and how to remove them. It is very important to offer to all students more opportunities to receive knowledge, work on the lesson and show knowledge. It supports inclusive education because the curriculum planning is done taking into consideration diversity of ALL students. Design is crucial to accommodate all kinds of learners, and learning should be a learner-friendly process. Being a language teacher I see UDL very useful for all students (not only SEN Ss) because learning a language is a complex process, it includes different skills. Some students may have problems with just one of them and UDL might help them master the skill they miss.

Universal Learning Design is what we are trying to do now. But teachers are not very motivated because it implies lots of extrawork. In Portugal the problem is that teachers of comprehensive or secondary schools often have an average of 5 or 6 classes (sometimes more) of 25 students each. Planning different strategies for such a number os students is challenging but also very difficult. Sometimes or in certain subjects a teacher only works with that class once or two times a week, so it is a bit difficult to plan individual strategies.

Like many others have mentioned it is the very first time I have encountered the concept. Sounds ideal for everybody and I think it is the core of inclusive education. To be able to present new topics through multiple ways for everybody to understand , to coordinate and support the students' activities and give them the opportunity to deliver final product in the way they choose and desire , to facilitate the process through a variety of technological appliances , it is a dream come true for every teacher.

I think that SEN students can have many benefits from UDL, but so many schools are not really good equipped and don't have appropriate technology or necessary educations for all teachers.

UDL interventions enable SEN students to participate equally in the lesson, but in a different way the way that is good for them. The barriers could be of financial nature, if the intervention requires some special teaching material.

UDL-based interventions support inclusive education in every way, not only SEN, but all students, and that is the idea of Universal Design. The possible barriers to UDL implemetation in my school would be the organisation (I teach in different classrooms during the day and I don't always have enough time to prepare everything moving around like that). Also, not all of the classrooms have the necessary equipment. I understand that we can do a lot just by moving the tables around, and preparing our own materials for the planned content, but it's very time consuming, and it doesn't guarantee us anything.

I think UDL – provides a more broadband aproach to support inclusive learning for SEN and for all students as well. I think that the number of students in a classroom prevents this model to be fully implemented because we need to spend a lot of time preparing and adjusting for the diferente classes that we teach. According to the guidelines of UDL provided above, to me it looks like this could be viewed as a solution to teaching SEN children because 1) it provides different approaches to different children and their needs, 2) it provides structure to teaching SEN children. Yet, some of the possible barriers to UDL implementation in my school could be 1) lack of resources and technological tools, 2) disagreement on the chosen teaching methods between the teacher and the child’s parents, 3) objections from other students and their parents on the slow pace of teachin.

The Universal Learning Design changes the perspective of how the school should look at students. Instead of being the students to adapt to the curriculum, to the school organization, to the schedules where the disciplines emerge as tanks and to the conventional teaching methods, it is the school that adapts to the diversity of the students who attend it. In this way, the school and education professionals are given the autonomy and flexibility of the curriculum, aiming for differentiated and stimulating pedagogical practices and the creation of inclusive environments in the school community. It also leads to greater attendance of SEN students in regular teaching classes.
Both regular teachers and special education teachers are challenged to "look" at the potential of students with and without SEN and break down the barriers that impede the optimization of learning in each of them. They are also challenged to value all different levels of success in learning, not just academic achievement.
This paradigm shift in education is still far short of expectations, with some good practices being used as a reference.

Since UDL reshapes teaching and learning by guiding design of an entirely new system with flexibility at its core. Since I will teach young learners it will helps me to give more ideas on how will I teach them in a new system unlike before, by utilizing the new digital environment. - Universal Design for Learning allows for more flexibility in the classroom environment, reduces barriers to learning and create a more equitable learning experiences. For example with the multiple means of representation provided, lessons can become more socioculturally appropriate as it enables students to overcome language barriers through promoting understanding across languages. The use of UDL-based interventions acknowledges and respects diversity in general education classrooms which makes them more inclusive towards the different backgrounds, abilities, and needs of every learner.

What are the possible barriers to UDL implementation in your school?
- The needed tools and assistive technologies as well as certain media resources may be difficult to acquire, maintain and update. The financial strain of keeping up with changes and updates regarding the technologies and resources can be struggle for schools with minimal funding. Training the school staff and familiarizing students with the new elements to their classroom experience may also be difficult. Such was the case with distanced learning, it took a while for students and teachers alike to become more comfortable with and competent in using the new tools and methods.

I always like to come up with 3 or 4 different ways of teaching something to my students to see if they understand it in those way if not I will go back to the drawing board and figure out few mores to see if they understand those way. I also give the General Education Teachers those tips and ways to see if they can show my students how to do the way I do it. If the Gen Ed teacher needs me to show how to do it. I am more than happy to show him or her how to do it. I will do whatever can to make my students successful in school.
