In the Bunker Diary by Kevin Brooks, Linus Weems makes a bad decision while under the pressure of helping a blind man out or leaving him be. Linus is a teenage boy, who is very wealthy and intelligent, however, in this case, wasn't smart enough. Linus saw a blind man who was asking for help to carry a suitcase into the back of his van, however, right off the bat, Linus knew he seemed a little sketchy. The man was dressed to the point where you couldn't see who he was, which was also a very sketchy sign. Linus however, under lots of pressure helped the man out, and that one decision ended up changing his life forever. "I Knew I'd been had then, but it was already too late, and as I turned to face him he grabbed my head and clamped a damp cloth over my face" (Brooks 5). The action that Linus had taken was the wrong decision. He kept asking himself if he should have helped out the man, however also thought that if the man was blind that he would be such a mean kid for not helping him out. Clearly, Linus Weems did not make a good decision while under pressure.

Along with Linus, Elie Wiesel's dad made a bad decision under pressure when faced with the decision of leaving their town as the German forces could come, or that they would stay in Budapest and not bother with the small town of Sighet. The town of Sighet was very small, with not too many people living in it. However, they all heard about the Nazi forces were starting to come their way. However hence being such a small town, they did not worry too much that the Germans would bother with them and instead stay in a much larger city and focus on them. Elie's father was a man of high praise in the town which a lot of people usually listened too, however, he was faced with a difficult decision when asked if they should leave the town for their own safety, or simply stay there and hope for the best. In this case, the pressure was huge as this one decision could either have them live a happy life, or they could be kidnapped by the Nazi's and tortured to death. "The Germans will not come this far. They will stay in Budapest. For strategic reasons. In less than three days, German army vehicles made their appearance on our streets" (Wiesel 9). Once again while under pressure another bad decision was made. They could have left town, and likely avoided the Nazi's from invading their town, but they stayed and the wrong decision was made once again. Showing that a good decision was once again not made under pressure.

Romeo & Juliet

Friar Lawrence was faced with the situation of getting Romeo and Juliet to be able to live happily ever after without anyone knowing, or else they would all be in huger trouble and disappoint many. Romeo is a Montague and Juliet is a Capulet, however in their town Verona they did not like each other very much. In Verona, Italy the two families had a feud for many years. Meaning that they never had parties together, or even talked to each other unless it was an argument. One night, the Capulet's were having a huge party which was a masked theme party. It wasn't the smartest idea, because anybody could really get in hence the fact you could not see anybody's face. Romeo being the daredevil he is went to the party and locked eyes with Juliet Capulet, a teenage girl whose parents set her up to marry this man named Paris. Later on, that night when the party was over, Romeo crept around to her balcony and proposed to her knowing instantly that they were in love. However, they realized there was a huge problem as Romeo was not a Capulet like Juliet. So they went to Friar Lawrence, who was supposed to help with the situation and have them live happily ever after, but that did not happen. "Hold, daughter! I can see a sort of hope. It demands as dangerous a course of action as the matter is dangerous that we want to prevent"(4.1.70-75). Friar conducted a plan in which involved potions to put people to sleep and waking up in an underground cemetery. The plan did not work out at all, in which Romeo, Juliet, and Paris all die at the end of the plan with everyone in shock. The decision that Friar made was easily a bad mistake, he was under pressure and did not have lots of time making the plan and his horrible decision turn out the way it did. Showing that Friar Lawrence did not make a good decision under pressure.
