Optimists believed they could reach their "hopes and dreams" in live. They participated in a large range of reform movements. These organized movements embodied the ideas of thinkers who were active in New England (1830s-1840s). Idealists believed that reality is not "out there" in material objects but instead exists in our ideas. "People simply needed to look within themselves to awaken a sense of wonder and recover their ones with the universe." Emerson taught only one thing, that every person was infinite.
-SN.
