Theme: proving adnan's innocence
Response:
- primarily, we figure out that Jay was a nervous wreck for almost a whole month after the murder. We know this because a co worker of his at the porn store would smoke with him and jay would often express his concern. He would say things like, "they are after me" and "people are starting to connect me to the murder". This does not look good for Jay because if he was truly innocent wouldn't he be more sad than nervous.

Theme: Evidence that proves Adnans Guilt
Response: in epsiode 11, we learn about "anoymous male #1" who says that he recalls Adnan stealing thousands of dollars from his mosque's donation boxes. When Adnan was confrotned about this, he somewhat admited guilt and stated that he would only steal a twenty or two every now and then. If he had lied about this then he could be lying about other parts of the crime as well. Furthermore,Adnan could have forgotten about the events that happend that day. Phycologist Ewing states that "half of the p[eople ive evaluated who have killed other human beings have some dgeree of amnesia for what they have done" This shows how he could have honestly though that he did not mu7rder her, even though in actuality, he did.

Theme: race and religion
Response:
-primarily, Adnan's community refuses to speak to any reporters or interviewers coming in to talk to the, about the murder because word spreads quickly in their community. They don't want someone to say the wrong thing or something different and disrupt everything.

-The person who was at the mosque stated that Adnan was a good person and was not someone who would constantly pick on others or look down on some.

Theme: Adnan's innocence
Response:
Primarily, Sarah talks about detective Jim and how they both share the idea that jays story had way too many inconsistences. He doesn't understand how jays story went from a to b and why he would change it. This is an example of ethos

Furthermore, Sarah talks about how the jurors believed that jay was going to serve jail time for what he did with the body, but it turns out he never did. This raises eyebrows and is odd becuase you would figure the jury would have been told about this happening.

Theme: Evidence that points towards guilty
Response:
-the handprint that was left on the map of Leakin Park is hard to disagree with. Though the prints are not entirely conclusive, it damages his plea for innocence.

-Furthermore, Adnan's supposed note on the top of the letters that he was sending back said " I'm going to kill her". Though he stated that this happened after he wrote it, it once again damages his overall innocence in my eyes

Theme: evidence that proves his innocence
Response: - within jay's story, he said that Adnan had called him on a payphone after he committed the crime near the BestBuy. This is weird because jay tells Sara that there is simply no payphone in that complex and she goes and confirms this for herself.
-Furthermore, Adnan runs through what he did that day and stated that there was simply not enough time to commit what they are charging him with within the 21 minutes they allocated for the murder to take place. Sara tried to do his exact route and found that there would have been 2 or 3 minutes to kill her and stuff her in the trunk, which is improbable.

Theme: Race, Religion, and Culture
Response:
-The prosecution talks about Adnan's race and how he is a Muslim. They then bring up the facts that he was involved with drugs and was constantly smoking weed, which is a breach of faith in his religion. They use this as a way to convince the jury that he is a bad person, by telling them something completely unrelated to the crime that highlights him as a bad person.
- Furthermore, the fact that he had a girlfriend and was having premaritally sex also helps add to their case, for having sex before marriage in their culture and religion makes him look bad, giving the jury a predetermined opinion about Adnan, that is not related to the crime.
