The character is a Secret Service agent, identified with the code number 007, residing in London but active internationally.
His profession gives him the title of undercover agent with a "license to kill", affiliated with the British secret intelligence service, now as MI6.
Through the books, Bond builds a number of character traits, such as an interest for cars, a love for food and drinks, and an average consumption of sixty cigarettes a day.
The characteristics of the character are those of a cold, intelligent, efficient, extremely observant, bold, ruthless, decent, reserved and elegant man, and perhaps one of his most notable characteristics in all the James Bond films is the great ability to be able to attract beautiful women easily, because in the male audience he is presented as a spectacular action figure, while the female audience defines him as a handsome leading man who has an irresistible charm towards women.

Miss Marple lives in a small town, St. Mary Mead, although she often travels to London with her nephew, and only family, Raymond West, who is a writer. The old detective has a great analytical capacity, but also a great knowledge of human behavior thanks to the observation of the bad habits of her neighbors, which end up being fundamental for the resolution of her cases.

Hercules Poirot is the most famous character of Agatha Christie. He is a very intelligent detective, maybe "the greatest mind in Europe". We can tell he is unemotional due to his preference of solving crimes using psychology and science. However he is also a protective man, and he would never doubt using his gun if needed.

As we analyze the 1960s and the 1970s, the characters are a clear representation of the traditional gender stereotypes established by society. However, there are some exceptions. For example, Miss Marple, who was a private detective who challenged gender roles in a magnificent way. This character was a groundbreaking one for society as it represented women in a way that people were not used to at all.
All in all, most characters respond to the common gender stereotypes, as reinforced by literature. Such is the case of James Bond and Hercules Poirot, who displayed the traditional male features, portrayed as intelligent, unemotional, cold and protective man.
