Ask them to come pick one by one and classify them into their topic.

At the end of the activity, check the stations and ask for the odd ones.

If they have done it correctly (be a little naughty and add a couple of spare cards from different topics).

NOTE: Ask them to justify their answers.

Put some music in the background and ask them to tell the story to each other by whispering in their ears. Then, ask them to write down their ideas.

Once they have consumed their time ( use a countdown watch), ask one of the couples to start telling their story, then another couple continues, and so on. So, at the end of the activity, they will have created a full story with bits from one and the other. This activity could turn out to be a bit of a laugh and it will definitely boost their creativity. The point is, they get an opportunity to speak and write + they can build some confidence.

Disadvantages:

• Some might find it embarrasing.

• If overused, it could be repetitive and children might lose interest.

• It is not the ONLY method; but it's great to combine it with other methods.

This, along with some puppets, or character cards will be the best combination to get them started.

One of the main issues with the Reading exam is the lack of time to actually read everything in detail. Instead, developping your reading speed along with other techniques will help you get through the exam sucessfully.

Some methods are:

• Pointer: using their finger or a pen to underline each line while reading. This will keep them focus on the text and avoid distractors.

• Avoid 'hearing' what you are reading. Ask students to move faster than they can possible articulate in their minds.
