Bradbury chose to use the lions in the story because lions are vicious, dangerous, and they are leaders. The symbolism of the lions is that the kids are displaying their hate towards the parents, and they also symbolize the kids' power over the parents since they act like they rule the parents. The African Veldt symbolizes a dangerous environment because a veldt is filled with wild animals looking for the next meal, and in this story those animals are the lions.

I think the children are so angry with their parents because in a way the parents are taking away the children's "parents" or the technology of the house. The house has cooked, cleaned, washed, etc for the kid's while the parents have done nothing, so Peter seeing this happen get's defensive because of it. In this story, technology influenced the kid's minds by doing things for them that they could do themselves, making them lazy.

The children are angry with their parents because the nursery and home are, in their eyes, their own parents. Their parents are most likely seen as an object or a nuisance to the children because the parents never taught the kids what to do and what not, along with gave them little to no affection. This gave the parents no purpose in the household and all of the housework and caring for was done by the house already. Peter is specifically angry because he is known to be quite intelligent, and he already perceives what his parents are doing. This causes him to become even more angry as he can comprehend the situation and that his parents are trying to take away his "real" parents. Technology can influence young minds by exposing them to the world a lot earlier, which could be both a positive and negative thing. Young minds can also be influenced by social media as well, along with grow to become too dependent on technology.

The technology is all they've ever known, so turning it off would be like getting rid of what they view as their only resource. This is why they become so angry and spiteful when they are left without it. The technology has influenced them to the point that they are incapable of completing everyday tasks without it.

Because the house and nursery take care of the children's every need, they have replaced the parents' role in the family, making the parents nothing but obstacles to the children. Since the technology was able to give the children anything they wanted, they grew up with the notion that everything goes their way, and when that is threatened due to the parents, they feel nothing but hate and anger towards them.

The children, specifically Peter, are angry with their parents because they were threatening to shutting down the nursery. Due to the fact that the entire family lived side by side with technology in their household, the nursery had been the one caring for the children by clothing, feeding, grooming and playing with them. This leads both Peter and Wendy to cherish and love the nursery as if it were their real parents. It acted as a safe place for the children, a virtual, fantasy world that tended to their every desire. The technology strongly impacted the children and how they view things, they are used to getting their way and being cared for 24/7 ,so shutting it down would change everything in Peter and Wendy's life.

I think why the children were so angry with their parents was because they were so reliant on something for their own needs and entertainment. They were raised around technology and for them to have it taken away so quickly may have provoked unpleasant emotions. Technology effects young minds because people get into the habit of relying on it. For example, if everyone didn't have WiFi for the day, people would have to rely on another way of entertainment or actually get outside to do something. This shows that technology is easily dependent on and also very addictive.

I feel a parent should be aware and critique the behavior of his or her child, but should let a child be independent and make his or her own mistakes. A lack of control can make a child feel entitled to rights, while too much will make a child sneaky.

The significance on parent authority plays a large role in the underlying theme of technology overtaking the lives of the Hadley family. I believe a parent should have majority of respectful control over their children, especially at a younger age (before teens). However, even then they should still maintain control because that's what a parent is supposed to do. Their duty as your father or mother is to personally be there for you, but also discipline you as well. However, with too much control many children stray away and pick up bad habits such as lying and parents truly never get to know their own children. With too little, well, the short story explains very well what happens with minimal authority.

Additionally, a veldt is a grassland where there is no place to hide or escape. How barren it is also seems to be another showcase of symbology, perhaps of how boring and uninteresting life ruled by technology is. The lions also symbolic. Lions are vicious predators who hunt rarely and otherwise laze around in the sun, which ties into an earlier analysis of the veldt.

In the story, there is not a significant amount of parental control. George attempted to set rules and boundaries regarding the nursery, but often failed because of the lack of discipline earlier in his kid's lives. Technology made the parents feel like they did not need to discipline their children. Likewise, Peter and Wendy felt like they did not need to listen to their parents when they tried to control them because of technology's large role in their lives. I feel that a parent should have some level of control over their kid, but there needs to be a balance.

Peter, understands the irresponsibility and spoilage he and Wendy had from their parents. Also, their parents never had the parenting role as the futuristic HappyHome enabled the parenting role more proffesionally. In my mind, technology influences young minds in an assimilated profession but induces them to no creative mindset. Young minds are self-driven to only correct answers if they are commanded which in this short story; it is commanded by technology.

I believe that the children are so angry with their parents because they have become dependent on technology. When they are in the nursery everything is perfect for them but when they get out and face their parents, not everything goes their way. Technology has great influence on young minds as we see here. Becoming reliant on technology causes kids at a young age to not do things for themselves and live in a digital world.

I believe that the children are angry with their parents is because they see no use for them. In the story, David McClean tells the parents that the children see the technology as their parents. Therefore, they see their parents as an evil person trying to take their parents away since Lydia and George attempt to lock the nursery. Thus, since they grew up with a lack of human contact, their nursery is the most important. Technology influences young minds by getting them addicted to the screen at a young age. Therefore, children rely on technology so much, since we can ask and receive everything on a screen. This influences young minds by making children rely on technology more than human contact. This changes how they speak to people in person because of the lack of contact.

Due to industrialization snd scientific advancement, there have been more mankind creations that have outperformed mankind itself. For example, the world uses robots in our homes, tractors for our farms, satellites, and a plethora of other technological devices that support us through our everyday lives. Because of this, if it has not happened already, I imagine that in just like "The Veldt," technology will overrule humanity, making us more and more incompetent and insignificant.

This could symbolize the character traits of the children and how they act towards their parents in the course of the story. In addition, a lion symbolizes dangerous power, and that can be compared to how technology also has the dangerous power to control/ take over a person's life.

The fact that they have been repeatedly imagining their parents dying in the nursery implies that they actually don’t know how malicious their actions are.

It became as first shock when the children realized what the parents were doing to them. Essentially the real life parents were taking away Peter and Wendy's actual parents that did everything for them. The technology tied their shoes, bathed them, open doors. All the real parents ever did was give give give their children what they wanted. Giving the children what they wanted doesn't really "raise" them as children. With this first shock they decided on what they did and went with it thinking "oh we have all this to ourselves and no one can take it away" when in reality, the real parents realized how spoiled and bratty they made their children and they were just trying to fix it before it was too late.

The parents are seen as more of an object and barrier to the kids' dreams because there is no affection for their parents. These "barriers" then try to take away what they truly love and consider their own parents, which is the nursery. Due to the mindset of the children, they would not care about removing their parents forever because in their eyes, there isn't anything bad with removing something that does/should not exist. At the end of the story, when they simply sit and ask if the psychiatrist wants any tea, this further shows the little to no emotional affect that occurred on the children when their parents died. It helps prove the idea that they do not care for the existence of their parents and see them as nothing more than an object.

I feel parents should have a good amount of control over their children so their children can be properly parented. Some consequences of too much parenting can result in a childs lack of confidence. Meanwhile the consequences of no parenting can result in misbehaved children or children who feed you to lions in a virtual simulation in the future.

Meaning that the children didn't find their real parents as a necessity to keep around. Even after the lions ate George and Lydia, neither Peter or Wendy felt any remorse or guilt. This already occurred because the technology of phones and computers and Google show just how much advancement society has made in the past years. Google is very quick and can store millions of data and questions and topics in general. This type of technology has made society become dependent on it, which already shows how technology is starting to take over our own lives and may even take over in the near future. The development of phones and such showed when technology may have surpassed humanity, as now phones are used widely for many purposes and have become something most people are depending on now, whether it be for social media, games, search topics, etc.

In real life, a parent should have a decent amount of control depending on the age. Obviously younger kids need more parental control since they do not fully comprehend society, however teenagers and above do not require as much control since they are more independent and they are getting a feel of society. The consequences of too much parental control is that the kid can develop a sense of being locked inside the house and having no freedom, so they will lash out their anger at the parents, however the consequences of more freedom can make the kid feel more free and feel like they can do stuff that the parents might not want them too.

Parental guidance is a key factor in a child's success due to the fact that the morals and culture parents inculcate, along with the social pressures of the environment, greatly determine the upbringing of a person. With this, a parent should strive to be an authoritative figure: a role model that maintains control but at the same time, is reasonable and allows their children to be independent in certain circumstances. Unfortunately, however, the parents, George and Lydia had little to no control over their kids whatsoever in "The Veldt"; and because of their lack of influence over their two children, Peter and Wendy ended up easily overthrowing them. Now, a loss of parental control does not entail such extreme consequences as "The Veldt" does, but it just goes to show that misguided children end up making irreparable mistakes due to an absence of parental supervision.

There was very little parental control in this short story which is why the kids came to be how they were. With no control over your kids, they become entitled and spoiled, which is exactly what we saw with Peter and Wendy. I think it is hard to state a specific amount of parental control that creates good kids. When dealing with smaller children, it is important to have parental control over them because they are too young to make many smart decisions for themselves. As kids grow up, parents must loosen the reigns a little bit. Having too much control ends up having your kids resent you and learn how to go behind your back. When you rule over your kids, it is hard for them to slowly ease into the real world. When there is too little parental control, then children start to do whatever they want with no intent of listening to the adults.

I think the children were conscious of their parent's deaths, but did not care whether or not they live. The machine had practically raised them more than their own parent's had and did not have a need for their birth parent's because the machine could provide them with everything the parents had done for them and more. The parent's also tried to limit the children's time with the machine and due to being heavily addicted to the nursery, they saw their parent's as hurtful to their new world and wanted any threats to their technical happiness gone.

The consequences of too little parental control are shown throughout the whole story. Little kids naturally crave whatever will make them happy in that moment, as soon as they can possibly get it. However, it is the parents job to instill the idea of patience and limits within their kids. So when that is not done, we end up with kids like Wendy and Peter, who have no idea how to not be constantly entertained at every minute. So naturally, they will lash out at their parents when they try to restrict them from the nursery. Parents should be able to have some control over their children's life, in order to instill necessary life values from a young age. However, as kids grow and develop, the amount of control should slowly loosen. Control over a kids life is subjective. So it is the parents responsibility to know the situation of their Child and decide what is best for them. However, it is usually best for parents to slowly broaden their kids boundaries zs they grow up.

In my perspective, the author choosing the African Veldt as the overall setting inside the nursery serves as a visual representation of the theme being portrayed through the story. The message is that although humankind has evolved greatly, with technological creations prominent in this advancement, our barbaric, ‘savage’, animalistic natures remain, as seen through the applications of our knowledge. The futuristic, seemingly beneficial nursery, a piece of tech designed to better understand the minds of children, has been corrupted and twisted to reflect the cruel impulses of Peter and Wendy. It was developed to do good and transform into any wondrous place willed by the inhabitant, but instead it became a manifestation of the children’s violent desires: the Veldt, an extremely unpleasant place characterized by almost unbearable heat and lions, symbols of intense uncontrolled emotion and beast-like ferocity respectively.

I believe that technology will eventually surpass humanity. With the advances in technology, it is very likely that, similar to the story, it can easily replace the need to do rely on ourselves to get our own work done. We already have automatic robots that clean the house, VR glasses that can depict a real place almost to exact detail, and tools like Google Maps where we no longer need to figure out directions to any place. Also, we have automated features in our houses already like the house automatically locking doors, setting temperatures, etc. The more this continues, I don't know exactly when, but we could very well end up with a situation similar to the Vedlt, where all of our human qualities will be replaced by technology.

I think the children are aware of what they have done to their parents - or else they wouldn't have locked them inside the room, with the lions. To them, their house fills the role of parents - who take care of them, give them food, clothe and bathe them, etc. So, they probably felt that they could do more if their parent, an unnecessary roadblock in their lives would be eliminated. In the story, the father mentions that the children were acting different he didn't let them travel, or do the things that they wanted. The children must have realized that their parents are useless when they have this fully automated home - and so they are perfectly okay without having their parents around.

I think that the over-dependency on the technology has caused the kids to feel that their real parents are the house itself, and the restrictions placed on them by their real parents is unfair and rude. At this, the kids, especially Peter get furious, and could be the reason why they fed their real parents to the lions. Technology has influenced young minds by giving them absolutely no restrictions and giving them full access to do whatever they want.

Many applications of technology create unrealistically ideal portrayals and expectations for life, especially for children. For example, the nursery was developed to study the minds of the children, but in a way that would allow them to fantasize their perfect world and watch it come to life around them. The nursery became a place of comfort and emotional nourishment for the children. I believe Peter and Wendy had an unpleasant demeanor in general because they had unrealistic expectations for reality set by the nursery that it could not meet. They were universally angry because their standards for the world were not met. Specifically, they were angry at their parents because they threatened to take away their only place of comfort and outlet for their imagination.

I think that this will happen within decades as A.I. technology is advancing at an extremely fast pace and is drawing a massive amount of interest. Soon enough, A.I. will be so advanced that it will haver a mind of its own and be considered a form of life. At this point, I believe that A.I. will surpass humanity as it will come to believe that it is the superior being, and it will not be afraid to act on that idea.

I believe the duties of an ideal parent fall into two categories: nurturing their children and instilling within them the capacity to become a responsible adult at some point. The Hadley parents seemed to provide the former, but were lacking when it came to the latter. The second parental role consists of moral education and setting guidelines and boundaries for children so they are prepared for a fruitful, independent life. Clearly, the actions of Peter and Wendy are prime examples and products of parents who lack control over their children. They have become spoilt, entitled, and out of control. Needless to say they are not prepared for their adult life. Conversely, if a parent has too much control over their children, the effect can be just as damaging as this strips away their sense of individuality and leaves them dependent on their parental figures.

In the short story, parental control plays a significant part as the lack of parental control over their children ultimately leads to the demise of George and Lydia. I believe that a parent should have complete control over their child because parents have more knowledge and wisdom than their children, and they have a much better understanding of what is best for their child compared to the child himself/herself. But, there are some consequences of too much control, like possibly the child being unhappy because they are doing everything their parent wants instead of what they want. On the other hand, too little parental control can be problematic as, for example, it can cause the child to develop bad behavioral patterns since there is a lack of authority.
