Geological location greatly impacted the living conditions of slaves. The conditions in which they lived got worse. Less food and clothing was given, because of the money the plantation owners had to pay for the war efforts. Many left the plantations that they worked on, and left to find their families and new work. This meant most were homeless and trying to fight their way through life. Since people thought blacks as an unequal, they were treated like one. This caused freed slaves to not find jobs or homes.
