My theme for this piece was distorting reality. I found an original painting similar to this one but I made the hands bones and changed a lot more involving the keys and the background. There's more colors in the background and the keys, you can't really tell because of the picture

Butterflies

The theme of this piece is based on the song Graveyard by Halsey. Specifically, the lyrics "the warning signs can feel like they're butterflies," In my piece, I wanted to convey the "butterfly feeling" that people sometimes get in their chest when they think they meet a person they like, even though that feeling's just anxiety and not a good thing. The ribcages display this feeling that you get in your chest, and also act as a cage for the butterflies, restricting them from flying free.

My concentration is survival. The goal of this painting was to make it look like it could be both ancient and/or post-apocalyptic, sun or moon, showing that survival is a constant no matter where we are in time.

Anxiety

This painting is about the anxiety and pressure that comes with dancing at competitions and nationals. I wanted to convey the thoughts going through her head, what she was feeling, and what the people around her told her while she was having anxiety. I wanted the background to be messy with several diffrent colors to show the noise and outside presures.

This painting was inspired by The Miracle Candle in Disney's Encanto. The goal of this painting was so I could show that there is still light in where there should be darkness. I added some pale paint to the candle with some assistance from Ms. Jury.

Pyrophobia

This painting was inspired by and named after pyrophobia or the fear of fire. I wanted to create something frightening and distrubing. My painting depicts a man burning to death in a surrounding of flames, his flesh is burnt and hes screaming. He's also missing his teeth, nose, and a chunk of his arm has been torn off revealing the bone, perhaps suggesting that he has led some sort of life to lead him to this moment, perhaps suggesting there is something else that has a horrific grip on him besides the fire.

This painting was my own kind of idea. I just wanted to paint something that was going to be easy and have a sort of calm with something broken.

The flowers represent different people. There's also going to be a red string coming from the rose and kind of connecting and wrapping around the other flowers, but it's severed closer to the rose, as if cut. The string was supposed to represent The Red String of Fate. An invisible red string that connects you to your soulmate. I believe that you can have more than one soulmate, and that soulmates can also be platonic. The entire painting is supposed to represent the feeling of abandonment and feeling abandoned and forgotten by people you really care about. There is also going to be words around the painting relating to the topic, and abstract twists

My concentration is the Renaissance and older European Culture. This is my take on a reference image of a ballroom in early Europe. I did not use a grid which I regret but I am pretty happy all things considered. I tried to capture a pretty formal feel and although it is very brown I hope that it is still lighter and relaxed.
