Not enough words can express how grateful I am to the strongest woman I know -- my mom. Though she's been through difficult challenges in her life, she's still able to raise her family of four children. Without her, I'd be lost and misshapen. She always gives me advice on what to do and what not to do. She's basically like a mentor to me; a friend. Though sometimes we have our arguments and debates, we always find a way to agree with one another. I am truly thankful and happy that I have a mom like her.

In life, surprises happen. Most of the time, they can be difficult and uneventful. But sometimes, they can be rewarding. In my case, these are my friends. I never really expected them. I'm not saying that I didn't wish to get friends or anything but I didn't expect that they'd be this nice and caring. I was always surrounded with different peers, most of which I didn't like. I guess because of this, I never really thought that one day I'd be surrounded with such a great atmosphere. I love my friends. I love them for who they are and how they treat me and other people. Thanks to them, I'm able to stay happy. I'd gladly help them in any way possible just to return the favor of them being friends with me. I wholeheartedly love them and wish that they'd always stay by my side forever.

One of the most challenging yet rewarding things I ever did in my adolescent life was coming out to my family. My friends already knew that I was gay, it was just given. I guess it was how I acted in school which made them already assume that I was gay. Though at first I was a little scared that my friends wouldn't accept me, I knew deep down that they would embrace me for who I am eventually; and yes, they did. However, it's a different case for my family. I knew my step dad had a sense of homophobia in him so it was kind of hard to tell him. My mom on the other hand was very easy to talk with since she's easy to approach. At first, she didn't take it seriously and thought it was just a 'phase' which up until now, I feel sad about since she thought of it that way. Good thing as the days passed, she slowly understood me for who I am. When I told my step dad I thought I was going to get scolded or rejected but to my surprise, all he said was "I knew it." I guess it's better than being told differently. I'm glad that I was able to tell everyone close to me who I am. Because of this, I'm learning new things about myself, things I never thought I'd be enjoying and understanding. I've become a better person. It just opened a new door for me -- a door of endless possibilities. Now, I'm able to express myself freely without fear of people's judgments. I'm just overjoyed at how much acceptance and respect I received from everyone I know. I'm now able to discover who I really am as a person coming out. That moment in my life was truly something I will never forget.

I transferred to iACADEMY after 10th grade. At first I just wanted to transfer for the sake of transferring since the crowd at my previous school was getting too toxic. My mom agreed since I also told her I wanted to become a game developer and iACADEMY apparently would provide a platform for me to become one. So, I transferred. Based from all the marketing, I was actually pretty hooked and excited to go to iACADEMY. There was just something about the school that made me think 'freedom', and that's what I wanted. I wanted to go to a school where I was free to express myself without getting ridiculed by others. Though it did allow me to do this, I was shocked to know that there was more I could do. iACADEMY has allowed me to become a better version of myself. I was able to surrounded myself with the best friends in the world, equip myself for my coming adulthood, and learn to love myself and other people like me. Without iACADEMY, I would have never found the things I have right now. I wouldn't be as prepared for my future and I would barely even know what I would want to be. I'm really grateful to this school. It's allowed me to stay happy in school which before, was pretty hard. I'm actually always excited to go to school now since I get to see my friends and take lessons with the best teachers. Because of this school, I will never ever forget my senior high school life -- the best years of my life.

At this point, I guess everyone should be thankful for video games. Although some older generations might say that it distracts people from reality, it's unnecessary, and it can cause a lot of health problems, video games have contributed a lot to society. People can even learn from video games, which is why certain institutions apply the use of games in teaching. In my case, I use video games to calm myself when I'm stressed since I have some time to myself. I guess without video games, I'd be a mess. I wouldn't be as approachable and relaxed when I'm pressured. In addition, it has also allowed to become closer to my friends and discover amazing people. It's even my means of interacting with them especially those who are socially-awkward. Video games have a special place in my heart since I was first introduced to them when I was just around 3-4 years old. The enjoyment and satisfaction while playing games is truly something different and will never cease to happen. This is why I want to become a game developer; for other people to experience the same feelings and emotions I have when I play video games. It's always been the one leading me to where I want to go and be in the future. It has served as my guiding light, which I'm grateful for. Hopefully in the future I'd never forget what video games has contributed in my life; how it was able to give me great friends and shape my life to what it is now. May it stay in my heart for all my days to come.
