Something that can help with difficult texts is annotating. With annotating you can individually analyze each line or sentence you don't understand, write down what you do understand, and use that to reread the text with a better understanding of what it's trying to say.

I felt like I understood the lesson on active reading and different annotating strategies like questioning the author and text reading the introduction/abstract and then immediately going to the end were also interesting techniques I've never heard of. I feel like this lesson gave me more strategy when reading new and difficult texts as it helped me get a better understanding of what im reading before I even read the main body paragraph of the text so I can tell if the text will further help my research or it won't without wasting more of my time researching the whole text.

I remember the strategy was to read some of the beginning of the text and then go to end and do the same thing. I’m not sure how that’s supposed to help me better understand the text. Or maybe it’s just to get the main idea before reading all of it?

A good strategy the lesson gave me was starting with a goal question, I have something I'm looking for. But also when i read the beginning and end of the article, there were more questions in my head, which I thought was a huge help.

I do feel like the lesson of Wednesday gave me a better understanding on how to find things when reading. I can now try and find where the beginning and where the end is in an article that I am reading related to my topic without having to read the whole article to find what I am looking for. Another thing that also helped me is to write down things as I go reading so I can go back and read them later and try to understand them .

Yes, I think Wednesday's lesson did give me a sense of how to analyze and annotate sources, this includes reading the abstract to see a "menu" summary for if I'm interested or not as well reading the beginning and conclusion to get a better summary of what the text implies.

something I understood about active reading is to not take the text as chronological order because even the words in the text can be mixed up so I learned to read carefully and try to find what questions the article is asking.

Last lesson gave me an understanding the strategy of previewing the Article. starting by skimming the title, abstract, introduction, and conclusion. This gave me an overview of the main ideas and the structure of the article.

I do think that the lesson on active reading gave me the ability to connect prior knowledge to the text that I'm currently reading, with this strategy I'm able to understand the text better.
