on August 17, 1887 a Jamaican political leader, publisher, and also a journalist was born who's name was Marcus Garvey. Marcus was the youngest out of 11. Unfortunately Marcus and his only sister were the only ones that survived adulthood in Jamaica. As he slowly grew up in elementary he experienced racism, and continued until he decided to leave the town he was in and moved to Costa Rica in 1910. After spending a few months in Costa Rica, he then started to work for different newspapers companies being their editor. After a few years he then decided to move to London where he attended Birbeck, University of London. In 1914 Garvey returned back to Jamaica and found the (UNIA) also known as the "Universal Negro Improvement Association". In 1919 he married his first wife Ashley Garvey, who would later save his life during the Tyler assassination by giving him medical treatment. After 4 months of marriage he separated from her. In 1922 he re-married to his new wife Amy Garvey.

This Great Depression Documentary relates to Kill a Mockingbird by the act of racism of the Blacks and the Great Depression was around at the same time To Kill A Mockingbird was set. This documentary shows that black people are being accused for things that the didn't do just like how Tom Robison (a young a black man) was accused of rapping a white woman. The Great Depression was a terrible time period in America, mostly people were poor since the stocks were crashing and they elected a terrible president. Like To Kill a Mockingbird everybody was frustrated and had a lot of racism.
