I really enjoyed lesson planning, and I grew a lot in the development of lesson segments. I am so thankful for the feedback given by Dr. Kotel. This helped me to know what direction to go and how to correct my writing.

Another takeaway that I had was when analyzing my teaching, I realized I left a lot out of the lesson that I planned, which took away from my instruction. I also realized that I need to work on my feedback to students.

Aha Moments

An Aha moment that I experience was when my focus learner started to understand the use of the Elkonin boxes in combination. She first was able to break up the sounds then see what letters made what sounds in the words we were working on. This made a big difference in her understanding of the word.

Another Aha moment was when I had a Zoom session with Dr. Kotel, and she helped me clarify the lesson objectives. Once I was able to see more clearly I was able to write the rest of the lesson without a problem.

Challenge

The biggest challenge I faced this quarter was making sure I sequenced the lesson correctly. I did not want to make the lesson too hard or too easy for my student. I also wanted to make sure it was engaging. The lesson ended up being just right for Ava and engaged her.

Another challenge I faced was watching the videos each night after recording. I know this might sound silly, but I never like watching myself and I always start to pick on my abilities once I see myself on video. However, this helped me to see what I needed to improve and work on this quarter.
