Many people (mostly women) were unfairly accused of being witches, and without any real legal defense and a society determined to demonize them, they were often found guilty. Many innocent lives and reputations were lost during this time.
By: Mia De La Cruz 3A

The Battle of Palmito was part of the civil war and it basically ended the war. It also sparked that Slavery was indeed bad and that people should never be used as slaves anymore.
By Hernan Villarreal 3A

by: natalie ruiz 3A
AMERICAN IDENITIES (It is an american identity because it shows how we americans weren't always the heroes in history and can manipulate the way we even percieve ourselves to know we did this to other human beings while we preach safety and security.)
This is the Bath Riots of 1917 a very underrated and terrifying event that occurred here in El Paso, Texas. It was during a typhus breakout and they required everyone entering the US to be disinfected which means put thru Zylkon B pellets to "rid them of lice" but in reality it killed many of them and they used kerosene as well which killed 27 people in an El Paso prison. In other cases they even used gasoline to clean them. And it drew in German attention and used our methods of "disinfection" to annilate an insane amount of Jews. And one day a 17 year old girl got all the women in the shuttle and attacked the american authorities and as the time went on more people joined in and began The Bath Riots)

During this time the definition of an American wasn't well established. It was easy to exclude people from being treated in a humane way because of prejudices. If a person was deemed a witch they were no longer treated as an American citizen. They became a monster, not worth their basic rights to a fair trial. This event was instrumental in defining who has the right to being an American and what that title entails, "innocent until proven guilty".
