I chose these 20 words because they were on the "Fry's First 100 Words" list. Students will often use the words on this word wall so it will be easy for them to connect the words to the letters. The words on my wall say the letters sound. Ex: I tried not to use words like know for k. Once I expand my list in the classroom, I will add more words from the list and from Dolch's word list. The background for my word wall helps students understand that letters build onto each other to make words like Legos build into each other. Adding sight words onto word walls help students remember the sounds of letters.

I will display this word wall in the classroom and still have it online for students to have access to it at home.
I will add more words and pictures as we learn words during lessons.
We will listen to the videos when we get a new letter, a new word, and once again after we finish learning the letter.
I will let students add pictures to the word wall if they come up with words that fit under the letter.
Students can look back at the word wall whenever we are learning about letters or during an activity.

Do's:

Put it where students have access to it.
Add words as you work on them/introduce them.
Begin with a blank wall.
Have fun and be creative.
Interact with the wall daily.

Dont's:

Put all the words up on the first day, or without students.
Ignore the wall.
Forbid students from touching it.
Don't use it for decoration purposes only.
Don't be afraid to use it.
