The relationships between a child and a practitioner can aid the development of these elements. A positive relationship will allow a practitioner to develop the child's interests and strengths providing high-quality learning experiences. 
Aistear contains four themes which enhances these learning experiences. Our space themed baby adventure relates to. 

  • Identity and Belonging: 
           -  Aim 1: LG.1 where children will build a respectful relationship with others.
         - Aim 4: LG.3 where children will show increasing confidence and self-assurance in directing their own learning 
  • Well-Being: 
          - Aim 4: LG 2. where children will  demonstrate a sense of mastery and belief in their own abilities and display learning dispositions, such as determination and perseverance 
  •   Communicating: 
         - Aim 1: LG. 1 where children use a range of body movements, facial expressions, and early vocalisations to show feelings and share information 
        - Aim 2: LG. 2 where children explore sound, pattern, rhythm, and repetition in language 
  • Exploring and thinking 
           - Aim 1: LG. 5 where children develop a sense of time, shape, space, and place 
          - Aim 3: LG. 2 where children become familiar with and associate symbols (pictures, numbers, letters, and words) with the things they represent

We adapted this experience by providing equipment and resources to indicate the elements of space, such as lights, gravity and shapes, in which, we focus on developing the babies five senses.

    • Touch
    Babies are like sponges and absorb information from the environment surrounding them. We want to give them a sense of an environment in which is outside of this world. We want to give them an experience where they can play, learn and explore. The experience will introduce babies to the world of maths, including shapes and sequences and the world of science introducing them to gravity.

We will ensure this by creating a plan referring back to Aistear. 
    Our role as practitioners is to adapt and introduce the adventure, but as it develops, we will step back and allow the children to take over the experience, resulting in a child-led activity. Nevertheless, scaffolding will take place if necessary.
    We ensure to have the babies interests included, such as bright lights, vibrant colours and materials to stimulate their senses. 
    A child's safety is the main concern in every activity. Since we are working with babies, we will ensure their well-being is considered, ensuring there are no items which can cause choking or allergic reactions. 
    We ensure that a child is learning but being equally cared for.

This will allow children who's language abilities have not developed yet and children with english as their second language, to feel comfortable in listening to music rather than someone speaking to them. This creates a calming and relaxing environment. By playing audio clips and musical instruments this will stimulate the children's hearing senses.
