I watched the video for 2nd grade spelling and after using the TTESS rubric, I would evaluate her with "Improvement Needed". I think that her lesson was very disorganized and didn't have a clear sequence and as a viewer it was confusing; therefore as a student, I assume it would also be hard to follow. This aligned with the rating that they provided too. I wasn't really surprised by the rating they providing after completing mine because they aligned for the most part.

I observed the middle school evaluation of a mariachi class. Most of my ratings aligned with the official ratings the teacher received from the evaluation. I could tell that the teacher had a great grasp for classroom management and procedures. During the beginning of the video, the class warm-up was student led while the teacher tuned the instruments. This shows that the students know what the correct expectations and behaviors are for the beginning of class.

It was also clear to see that the teacher had an impressive span of knowledge in his content area. He was able to analyze and adapt his lesson plan to fit the needs of the students. This also shows the planning that went in to differentiating his lessons so that all students were progressing throughout the class.

I agree that she would score proficient on certain domains, and there is room for improvement. I did not hear not see anywhere in the classroom where the lesson objective was stated. The teacher did a good job at aligning the lesson with previous knowledge, but I found her questioning to be surface level and lacking higher level thinking questions. I think she did a lot of the talking whereas next time she could consider letting the kids work in groups without her or more independently. Overall I think she did a good job.

If something was off beat they realized and fixed the problem as a group while the instructor gave resources and observations. Goals were set for the music they were playing, the activities were relevant and culturally appropriate. I gave this instructor lots of proficient and even some accomplished feedback. Students were not very engaged and seemed confused about the lesson because the objectives and sequencing of the lesson was not clear to the students. The lesson was not differentiated to the students' needs. While the teacher was asking for students' feedback with questions, she also frequently gave behavior related feedback saying "Shh" throughout the lesson which the teacher can improve in making the lessons student-centered.

I was excited that our ratings aligned! I was unsure if they would as sometimes music and other fine arts concepts are not viewed with the same lens as core subjects, but the teacher was intentional about including TEKS and Bloom's Taxonomy terminology which made connections clear for all. The class environment had clearly established class routines, student led small and full class activities, and instruction was differentiated for the different instruments and their varying needs. Students engaged in discussions with the teacher and other students to evaluate their work, analyze feedback, and put them into practice for progress, and the teacher intentionally connected students statements with academic language. The words "all" and "consistently" truly apply to this lesson!

I watched the middle school science (homeostasis) video. The ratings and observations given by the appraisers were similar to what I observed and took note of during the lesson. The teacher did ask several questions to elicit student thinking about the content while also reinforcing the knowledge students have about other subjects. For example, the teacher asked students to recall what "homeo-" and "-stasis" meant. This not only helped the students to remember what the concept is about as it relates to this particular lesson, but it ties into ELAR with the use of Greek root words in order to decode meaning from written/verbal language. In addition, the teacher from this video was clear and concise, and she did make efforts to center the students and their learning in her instructional and communication practices.

I watched the high school ELA lesson and I would rate it as developing, mostly due to the instruction. I noticed that the teacher did not give students a sufficient amount of time to answer the question, and so I feel students were not able to absorb the information and thus the lesson was not as effective as it should have been.

I watched the 3rd grade math intervention and I agreed with most of the ratings. A lot of her questions were leading questions didn't give the students opportunities to expand on their answers or come up with the solution on their own. She did, however, do a good job of going over the standards and I like how they reviewed it at the end of the lesson.

I watched the third grade math intervention. I loved how she asked open ended questions and set clear expectations. I do however, think she could have included more student collaboration and utilized differentiation for students to show their learning. I agree with the ratings given to her.

I watched the second grade ELA making predictions lesson. I noticed that the teacher dove right into the lesson without telling the students what exactly they were going to be learning. She gave directions to some transitions, but not in enough detail. For example, "put your papers in your desk". Where in their desk? She also did not let students know they were supposed to be partner reading, so they did not know they were supposed to be doing that. There was no differentiation provided for students who were struggling.

I watched the third-grade Math Intervention video. I think the teacher did a great job explaining the learning objective to the students in her group. She also did a great job presenting the students with hands-on manipulatives. I did notice that the teacher did not have a formal way of evaluating the learning of the students in her small group. There was not much communication between students, it was mostly between the teacher and student. I think she could improve her lesson and include more student interaction and collaboration.

It appeared that the teacher was trying to extend her lesson from the previous day, and although the students "acted" engaged, the objective of what was to be achieved by them was unclear. I did rate a level higher in a couple of areas, so I'll have to go back and review.

Direct instruction is needed when going over vocabulary. She had asked students what the three rules were but did not specifically call on a student or go over the three rules herself. I rated this portion as "improvement needed" under achieving expectations.
