Every year eight million tons of trash is dumped into our oceans. The amount of trash that is dumped every minute is the size if a garbage truck. Trash isn’t the only thing polluted in the ocean. They’re also many oil leaks. Each year 1.3 million gallons of oil is dumped into the ocean. Pollution is killing tons of animals. In 1975 over 100,000 sea animals were killed because of pollution.

 We don’t think twice when we throw things away, but if you think about it what you’re throwing away could end up in the ocean. By conserving the amount of trash we throw away each day would make it so that oceans wouldn’t get so polluted. When we throw plastic away we don’t really think about how many animals could die from this or if it will harm the environment around the ocean. Some animals eat  the trash or the oil spilled, if we end up eating that fish or animal we could get really sick. Pollution doesn’t only hurt animals it hurts us.
The oil that is spilled is called liquid petroleum. This oil is very dangerous to all marine life. Petroleum oil is so dangerous that if an animal ate it they would die. Like petroleum oil The sewage system has chemicals that harm the marine environment. All these chemicals kill thousands of animals and harm our marine environment.

When you spray plants with chemicals it goes through the ground. Eventually it will get to the bottom and sink into underground water. This sends chemicals through the water and pollutes it. By polluting this many chemicals they can get into the water you drink and make you really sick. Using organic fertilizers makes it so the soil is healthy along with the water below it. 
The industrial waste rises the temperature of the ocean. When the temperature rises it changes the animal's habitat. Animals are so used to there natural habitat that they can die if it changes. This could also mess up the food chain. I one animal dies because of the temperature change than it could cause another animal to starve and it keeps going on and on.
We can help pollution by recycling more and reusing. Industrial factories can stop releasing oil and we could design stronger boats to prevent oil spills. Only 8% of the United States recycles. If everybody recycled it would reduce the amount of pollution in ocean. Some companies are already making material for shoes out of recycled plastic material. Companies need to figure out how to reuse plastic material and turn it into something that can not be thrown away. If we want to help the ocean pollution and save marine environment and animals we need to “Reduse, Reuse, Recycle”.
