It is important to be sure the information you have is true and correct. "Much of the information on the internet is valuable; however, the internet also allows rapid and widespread distribution of false and misleading information." (page 2). In todays age we are able to find answers to any question we might have through the internet, but you cannot believe everything you read or see. The best way to be sure you are getting the right answers is by asking your healthcare provider. One overarching question you should as yourself is, is there any reason this might be wrong? Somethings to consider are: "Who runs the website? … Who pays for the website? … How does the website document the evidence supporting its information? … How current is the information on the website? … How can you verify the accuracy of information you receive via e-mail?" (page 5). By asking yourself these questions you can check to be sure that the information you are receiving is correct.

Before I buy a product I typically do some research before ordering it. One example of this as when I was looking for some skin care products. I had heard about some products that were really go through social media and I was interested in ordering them. Even though I had heard good things from the users, I wanted to know the science behind it and why it worked so well. I went to their website and found exactly what I was looking for and so much more."Websites should identify the medical and scientific evidence that supports the material presented on the site" (page 3). It had the evidence I wanted to ensure the product will do what it say it will. Not only did I find the science I was looking for, but also recommendations form hundreds of dermatologists.
