"Teachers (and newspaper editors) might find it increasingly difficult to determine if a written document was created by A.I. or a human. Deep fake technology can create videos and photographs that look real."

This stood out to me at first because, as a teacher, I certainly share the concern expressed here by Lieu. Especially as an English teacher, I worry about the ways in which A.I. technology may infringe on student ability and desire to produce original writing. After thinking about it further, this quote stands out to me even more because of the broader implications it reflects outside of the classroom. What kind of a world are we entering if machines and algorithms can create pieces or writing, artwork, photographs, and videos? How will we know what is real? How will we know what to believe? - Ms. Beaman

The article by Ted Lieu reminds me of Visual Argument C in which a baby is portrayed with a television in his/her eye. The connection I see between the two texts is the idea that our future is going to be heavily influenced by artificial intelligence. Ted Lieu argues that A.I. already exists in our daily routines and that it is only becoming more and more embedded in our workplaces, education, transportation, and more. As a Congressman, he is concerned about the need for regulation for this uncertain and quickly evolving technology. In Visual Argument C, the baby is a symbol of the future and the television in the baby's eye can be interpreted as the technology that is impacting that baby and his/her future on a daily basis. There is a tone of concern in Visual Argument C that I also feel in Ted Lieu's article. Both pieces convey a sense of anxiety about the growth and influence of technology or A.I. on our society. - Ms. Beaman

This has similar values because Lieu mentions how A.I. has become a disruption to teachers because it is becoming increasingly more difficult for them to tell if the person used A.I. to write the essay.

When reading this article by Ted Lieu I made a connection to the visual argument letter E. In the visual argument letter E we see a robot holding a brain with a speaker bubble that says "to be or not to be". The article reminded me of this because nowadays we use A.I. instead of our brain. We aren't thinking critically anymore and starting to rely on A.I. In the article Ted states "I was surprised at how ChatGPT effectively drafted a compelling argument that reflected my view on A.I., and so quickly." Why does he mention this? He mentions this because he states that he didn't write the first paragraph in the article. Not only that but then he explains the little effort he put in for the A.I. to do the rest of the work. It's crazy to see how technology is advancing right in front of our eyes.

Ted Lieu falls somewhere in between. He believes that AI can be beneficial for society, if regulated properly. He argues that AI "can improve almost any task you can imagine," but then follows up with "AI has caused harm." This shows the two sides Ted Lieu is arguing/qualifying. He later suggests a solution of an agency saying, "An agency is nimbler than the legislative process, is staffed with experts and can reverse its decisions if it makes an error." This does not completely take away AI, but regulates it to where we can incorporate it to benefit and progress society.

From my understanding he didn't seem to choose one specific side. He sees the good and bad in both sides of AI deepening on how you utilize it. For example he stated '' but some of the harm can be deadly'' , in this statement he was referring to the self driving teslas. AI can be harmful when it comes to relying on it for your safety. But when it comes to education wise or work wise , it can be very beneficial. Although at times it can be too advanced for humans it can also be useful due to how much information it can provide you with. I say this because in the article he stated '' A.I. is part of our daily life. It gives us instantaneous search results, helps us navigate unfamiliar roads, recommends songs we might like and can improve almost any task you can imagine''.
