Washington that African Americans should not focus on civil rights or social equality but concentrate on economic self-improvement.<br>3. Talented Tenth: According to D.E.B. DuBois, the ten percent of black population that had the talent to bring respect to African Americans.<br>4. NAACP: National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; founders include W.E.B. DuBois and Ida Wells-Barnett.<br>5. Ida Wells-Barnett: An early leader in the Civil Rights Movement; she documented the extent of lynching in the United States, and was also active in the women's rights movement and the women's suffrage movement. </div>]]></description>
