Because she was a member of the political party Proleteriat. The party was against the Russian government and they wanted a democracy and nationhood in Poland. So the party was forbidden. Nevertheless she met secretly.
She ran away to Switzerland to escape being arrested. There she studied philosophy, history, politics, economics and mathematics. She represented the ideas of Marxism critically.
After the world war 1 began she established 'Gruppe Internationale'. It follows Spartacist League. She head it as political prisoner with Karl Liebknecht. In 1918 she demanded dis empowerment of military and council republic in the newspaper 'Die Rote Fahne'.
Trough the Spartacist Uprising she got a public enemy.
