My name is Carolina Tinajero and I am majoring in bilingual education EC-6. My preferred grade level to teach would be Kinder or 1st grade, but eventually I will end up exploring other grades. I have four siblings but we never really played together. However, I have vivid memories of my elementary years. I played countless times with classmates and neighbors after school. Our favorite games were tag, green light, red light, hide and seat, and los congelados. (I am unsure how it is called or if it exists in the U.S) As a kid, I adored any game that required me to run, jump or bike. I used to draw and color a lot as well, but my favorite activities were the ones done in groups (contrary to now) I am certain that playtime is fundamental to a child's development. Playtime engages them to learn, cooperate, socialize, and have fun. These skills in time, also help children be empathetic to others, open minded, respectful, less egocentric, and confident to take leadership, and decisions.
