Why should we get laptops? Laptops are used in a variety of settings, such as at work (especially on business trips), in education, for playing games, web browsing, for personal multimedia, and for general home computer use. I believe my mom should buy me and my sister a laptop because I can do my school work and I won't be on my phone too much.

I believe you should get me and Rubia a new laptop because I can do my school work on it. because we can do work on it like lexia and we can do other work on it. If I lose my ipad if it doesn't have charge on it I can use it and after we are done we can watch youtube. Another reason is we won't be on our phones as much. Specifically we won't be on our phones and it would be too hard to do my work on my phone. For these reasons we need a laptop.

I think buying us a laptop would be a good idea because it would teach me responsibility. My other reason is I wont be on apps when I’m doing work unlike when I’m on my phone. This shows we won't be distracted when we do work on our phones. I won't be distracted and I’ll go to bed early and my laptop will be too big to watch at night.I think it is a good idea to buy us a laptop.

I believe you should buy me and Rubia a laptop because I can do my school work and I won't be on my phone too much.

Dear Mom,

Did you know that SneakerCon is the #1 most popular shoe and clothing convention? Well me and Kaydri have planned on going in the summer. If I can go to SneakerCon in Cleveland, I will be happy and I can see all my favorite shoes in person. Sneakercon is famous for its “trading pit” where sneakerheads can buy, trade, & sell their shoes to other people. It is located in RED-SPACE in Cleveland, OH, takes place on June 9th from 4 to 9 P.M. That's why Kaydri should be able to come with me on the summer trip to SneakerCon because we will raise enough money from a lemonade stand so you won't have to pay much. He also has shoes he wants to trade for another product so we can get something better.

Reason 1 — We will use money from a lemonade stand to buy the tickets and shoes. We are going to raise money during spring break, June, and early July. I will try to raise a minimum of $120. or maximum of $310. If the lemonade stand does not work out I will try babysitting or doing yard work to raise money, although it is unlikely to happen, the lemonade stand is near a popular area so it will be easy to raise the money that we need. In the end, we would need to raise money for tickets or we won’t be able to go.

Reason 2 — He has shoes (Jordan 4 ‘Thunder’) he wants to trade for something for a higher value. If he can trade for something with a higher price/value then we can resell that item to make a high amount of money. This was also one of the main reasons he wanted to go to SneakerCon with me. To sum up, if he will be able to transfer his Jordan 4s then we will make a lot of profit.

Conclusion — Finally, that is why Kaydri and I should be allowed to go on the summer trip to SneakerCon because I will raise money in a lemonade stand, and he will trade his Jordan 4s to get a better item to resell. You might say that I have to be older before I can go on a long trip with Kaydri but I will prove that I am mature enough to go. I have already gone on a similar driving trip with Enzo and I showed my maturity there, so I will try my best to be mature on this summer trip. Therefore, can you please think about taking me on this trip with Kaydri.

Sincerely,

Simon

Have you ever been scared to walk into school, scared of getting a shooter threat? Ever wondered why there weren't more restrictions to getting guns? I have, and I think that guns are too easy to get and there should be more restrictions about getting guns because guns are too easy to get and because a lot of deaths are due to gun violence.

Guns are too easy to get these days, according to the criminal watchdog website if you don't get your background check in 3 business days, you can go ahead and buy the gun anyway! The other problem is that with guns you don't need a license, all you need is a background check according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. This means all that's restricting you is your age, and seeing as SPRC states that 33.3 percent of gun owners stored at least one of their guns loaded and unlocked. This means that kids could get into them and hurt themselves- or others!

I think that another reason guns should be more restricted in the United States is that a lot of deaths are caused by gun violence, a study made in 2018 by the New England Journal of Medicine found that there were 572,537 total gun deaths between 1999 and 2016 which is a lot, especially because it also states that 213,175 of those deaths were homicides, which also shows that guns are being given to the wrong people. Another source- the American progress website says that 5 women are murdered with guns every single day in the United States. A woman's risk of being murdered increases by 500% when a gun is present during a domestic dispute. That's a lot and it's sure to keep rising if we don't do anything about it!

Now, some might say that gun ownership is an American tradition and that the Second Amendment protects individual gun ownership but the Second Amendment is not an unlimited/ individual right to own guns! Furthermore, the Second Amendment protects the rights of the militias to own guns and not for the rights of individuals owning guns. I’m also not saying that people shouldn’t have guns, I’m just saying guns are dangerous and there should be more caution in letting people have them.

If we as a community take a stand against gun violence and push for there to be more restrictions, we can make a change. Guns are too easy to get and lots of deaths are caused by gun violence, so I believe that guns are too easy to get and there should be more restrictions on buying guns. Americans, take a stand and try going to a protest, talking to someone who owns a gun and asking them how they got it, just learn as much as you can and help as much as you can!

Dear Gunston Administration,

I would like to tell you a story that you have probably heard before: it's the tale of testing schedules… Ok so moving on I’m not sure if you know this like Leo 7th grade traditional program said “no I was not aware” so if you are like him this letter is for you to help understand better and even if you did know maybe this will add to your knowledge.

So I would just like to inform you of this and maybe just add to your knowledge. This schedule messes with people's hunger with how crowded/loud the cafeteria is.

The thing is every testing day the 7th graders in Montessori get the 6th grade schedule due to our mixed grade classes and like Afomia Montessori 7th grade said due to our Montessori classes “if I went to lunch I would be missing my first period”. T

Felicity, another Montessori student explained this to me “so because Montessori is a program where 6th and 7th graders get mixed so I have English 6/7 1st period and instead of it being just 7th graders it has both 6th and 7th graders in it.” These two pieces of information help to try to explain why this happens.

Now you are maybe you are wondering how people feel about this I have Cora a sixth grader in the Montessori program here to tell me this “its kinda annoying because there is a lot of extra people in the cafeteria and our table is just really crowded,” like she says it makes the cafeteria more crowded louder and the lunch line longer. I then asked her how she would feel if she was one of the 7th graders she said “she would feel out of place and uncomfortable because she wouldn’t be used to it.”

I asked Ms Megan McCormick Montessori English teacher what a solution might be and she told me “there would be no way to do it because all Montessori 1/2 periods are 6/7 grade” so what I believe that it just needs to be 4/5 or third period around lunch for this schedule to work.

I believe that if we fix this problem we will be able to make the cafeteria less crowded and the lunch line shorter. It will also help keep the volume down in the cafeteria. It will help with people's hunger if they are on their normal lunch schedule.

please take what i'm saying into deep consideration,

Why school should start later

March 11, 2024

Dear Dr. Duran,

Imagine, you have an important meeting in the morning. You prepare all night for it and go to sleep late. Then you only get a couple hours of sleep and you’re tired all day and end up not leading the meeting greatly. Now imagine being a teenager where your hormones are always shifting and sleep is more important than ever. Middle school should start later to improve students' studies, and to help students get more rest. Research says that sleeping improves your studies. Also, students need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep to fully function.

Why middle school should start later is because sleeping improves students' studies. According to The University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine , “Sleep actually helps students to learn, memorize, restrain, recall, and use their new knowledge to come up with creative and innovative solutions”. How this relates is because if school starts later we can get the amount of rest we need and it will improve our grades. Also, according to the Center for Disease Control and prevention , “Students should get the proper amount of sleep at night to help stay focused, improve concentration, and improve academic performance”. To summarize, this explains how my thesis is equivalent because sleep helps us focus more in class. These are reasons why sleeping improves our studies.

Students need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep to fully function. According to the website kids health , “Most teens need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep to do well on tests”. This shows my thesis because students need a lot of sleep to be ready and energized to do well on tests. Also, according to the source nih, “Being tired affects your memory, your concentration, and most seriously, your motivation”. Based on the source, the thesis connects with this because students won’t be motivated to go to school which leads them to not be motivated to do assignments. These are reasons why students need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep.

School should start later to improve students' studies and so students can get more rest. Why school should start later is because sleep helps with students' studies. Also, because students need about 8 to 10 hours of sleep to fully function. This is why I believe that school should start at 8:30 or at least 8:15. So please Dr. Duran, let us get more sleep so that we can improve our grades.

Sincerely,

Skylar Steen

Skylar Steen

7th grade

Gunston Middle School.

Why Virginia Schools Should Teach in Their Curriculum About War Camps That We Created

Hi my name is Hadley, I am in 7th grade, and I go to a Virginia school. I recently read a book about the Japanese internment camps, and I came up to my teacher and asked, why aren’t we learning about this? When I was looking at the Virginia standards of learning, I noticed that we learned about what Germany did to Jewish people during World War II, but we are not going to learn about what the U.S. did to Japanese people living in the U.S, during World War II.

Virginia Schools should teach in their curriculum about war camps that the United States created, because we need to make sure that future generations don’t repeat history, and we need to honor people that had to go through war camps.

If we teach about war camps in Virginia schools, it may prevent future generations from repeating history. According to Time magazine, “Those who do not learn from history, George Santayana famously wrote, are doomed to repeat it.” Meaning if kids in Virginia are not taught about war camps the U.S. might repeat history with the use of internment camps. A quote from Lancaster online agrees with Time magazine “According to Penelope J Corfield in,” Why History Matters, “Understanding our past and history is invaluable. It may prevent us from making repeated mistakes, and helps us build on our futures.” If we get taught about Internment camps, then it's likely the United States won't make the same mistake again by using war camps for certain races, or certain ethnic groups. Therefore, teaching about Internment camps in our curriculum, students will learn what happened, and future generations will hopefully not repeat history.

If we teach about war camps in Virginia schools, we are honoring the people that had to go through Internment camps, and I think it will increase empathy in students, empathy is also a part of SEL (Social Emotional Learning). One school’s webpage in Indiana, Carmel Clay school’s states “SEL is the process through which children and adults understand emotions, set positive goals, feel and show empathy for others.” In the state of Indiana, SEL is to show empathy for others, so therefore should show empathy for the people who had to go through Internment camps. According to the White House on, Day of Remembrance of Japanese American Incarceration during World War II, “Despite never being charged with a crime, and without due process, Japanese Americans were forcibly removed from their homes and communities and incarcerated, simply because of their heritage. For years, many Japanese Americans lived in harsh, overcrowded conditions, surrounded by barbed wire fences and armed guards. Not only did they lose their homes, businesses, property, and savings — they also lost their liberty, security, and the fundamental freedoms that belong to all Americans in equal measure.” When I read about this, I felt horrible for them. Teaching this would honor them, and have the children in Virginia learn about internment camps in the U.S. And then, a wide audience will know about the tough times. Ultimately, teaching about Internment camps in schools would help students show empathy more often for the people who have gone through tough times.

You might be thinking, by teaching this in Virginia schools, children will learn to hate their country, but take Germany as an example. Germany does teach about what they did to Jewish people during World War II in their school’s, and people actually don’t learn to hate their country. This article made by the Philadelphia Magazine, what a German Taught me about his country and The Holocaust, states, “It was clear that an unflinching education on the events of the Holocaust left him with feelings of guilt and shame, but those lessons ultimately fertilized a great sense of empathy as well as an openness to discussing history that helped us both heal the decades-old wounds of our peoples’ pasts.” By getting taught that, it gave him the sense of openness to discuss history, and helped him to understand the holocaust a lot more, it could do the same for us. In brief, teaching about Internment camps in the Virginia schools curriculum will have Virginia students understand what actually happened, and the students might become more open to discussing United States history, and will not learn to hate the United States.

In the Virginia schools curriculum we should teach about Internment camps. Students can benefit from being taught about Internment camps, through their learning journey. Therefore, if we teach about Internment camps in Virginia schools, students may develop empathy for the people who had to go through the camps, and we hopefully will not repeat history. I want to urge you to consider adding Internment camps into Virginia’s curriculum.

Thank you for taking the time to read my letter.

-Hadley Burch

Why we should go to Bangladesh

Dear mom we should go to Bangladesh because it’s been almost 8 years and the last time I went to Bangladesh was when I was 4 but know I’m 13 another reason is because Bangladesh has changed a lot over time in Bangladesh there is more beautiful areas to go explore and we also get to meet family

Nice places to go to

In Bangladesh there are lots of nice new and old places I’d like to visit.

According to history, the liberation war museum located in Dhaka is a place to show how Bangladesh got independence. It has a lot of artifacts and I'd like to learn more about where the war happened. Another location to visit would be St Martian. According to the Bangladesh toresum board this is a small island where we can swim in Crystal blue clear water. You would like swimming

there. You can also catch snakes. there are more places to go to For example

Cox bazar, Chittagong Zia ,Sylhet, old Dhākā, and Dhākā. There are so many historical places that I would like to visit. And would love to see how the land has changed.

Food

In Bangladesh fish is one of the most popular cuisine.but the most loved food is fish curry with white rice. And one of the most popular street foods is puska. Puska is a mixture of mashed potato-like filling with sour/spice/sweet soup-like consistency and the chips like little baby plates. First you crack a small hole into the chip then you put in the potato filling. The filling is made with mashed potatoes, mustard oil, onions, garlic (optional) and don’t forget about the green chili then you mix it with your hands. For the “soup” part, the soup part is a mixture of the green chili powder that comes in the packaging and a bit of tamarind mixed with water. In English it’s called water ball. If we do go to Bangladesh we would get the full experience.

family

Our family must really miss us. They always call you and tell you how much they miss us and how we should go visit them. We have not got to see our new baby cousin.

Learning bengali

The benefits of going to Bangladesh is I will be more confident of learning Bengali and be more fluent at it. According to the us department of education said that learning more languages can can provide you with better job opportunities. In the end we will get to learn all about Bangladesh

Dear,Cristina Diaz-Torres

Hi I am Christopher Leon and I am a 6th grader at Gunston middle school. Have you ever wanted school to start later? When I get to my bus stop it is 7:00 a.m. and it is still dark outside. When I get to school it is 7:30 a.m. and it is still pretty early. School should start later because we can rest more and be prepared to learn, and it can be more convenient for the family's schedule.

If kids get more sleep, they can be more active and want to participate more. According to the American Psychological Association, “When school systems have a later start time, they have found out that their students get more sleep.” I think this shows that more resting time helps students be more prepared. When school systems have more later start times, they have found out that their students get more sleep. Following this, the CDC shows that not getting enough sleep can lead to different health problems like poor mental health, injuries, and more. Middle schoolers are recommended to have 9-12 hours of sleep. In other words, this shows that you get more sleep to be active and ready to learn. To summarize, students should get more sleep to be prepared for school.

Starting school later can be more convenient for a family's schedule. According to CNN, U.S work culture revolves around employees putting in eight hours of work and work hours are 9-5. This is why we need to change our school schedule 9-4 to make it more convenient for families. According to the business insider, ”I can’t schedule for late afternoon meetings, I can't participate by socializing. There you can see it is important to have an organized schedule. To wrap this up, schools should change their starting time to be more suitable for families' schedules.

Therefore, I think school should start later because we can rest more and be prepared to learn, and it can be convenient for the family's schedule.
🐀Should schools provide uniforms?🤔

Introduction:

Have you ever wondered how school uniforms can harm students? What about, how sexual they are towards girls? This might seem crazy or fake, but it’s not! More and more people have become aware of this but how is it being handled or, what is making these uniforms unsafe or too sexual? Read through the article as I explain “Why schools shouldn’t be providing uniforms.”

✨Reason one✨

“how can school uniforms harm students?”

To start, in schools that don’t provide uniforms you’d notice no individual is dressed the exact same as another. This allows the student/students to freely express themselves whether it's religious, cultural, or the student’s sexuality. However, schools that provide uniforms don’t let the students express themselves which can affect them in many ways. Not just that, school uniforms can have more negative effects such as their mental health, and increase bullying.

Still, Many Teachers across the world claim school uniforms help students with their focus. An example being, a school supervisor claiming students tend to get distracted often with their clothes or accessories. Because of this, school uniforms tend to keep that from happening.

💅Reason 2💅

“are school uniforms sexual?”

For the next question, are school uniforms sexually designed? Many students say “yes” Stating the schools make the skirts too high for girls.

In South Asia closer to Bengali, school uniforms for girls wear long white dresses. This may seem fine until you realize what happens when they get wet; the dresses are made in a thin cloth so when the uniforms get wet you can somewhat see underneath it. Closer to Japan, the skirts made for girls are also too high.

To finish up this topic and my opinion, do school uniforms still break the rules listed in the first amendment? Yes, like I mentioned before it is listed all individuals have the freedom to wear whatever they want to express themselves. Erik Erickson also mentioned, taking the right for students to choose what they wear can affect them later on in life. Stated in a quote of his, “adolescents see clothing choices as a means of identification, and speaking an identity is one of the critical stages of adolescents.”

This means school uniforms take that opportunity away from young students.

ending statement:

To conclude my argument, school uniforms should not be provided to students. I hope this article changed your perspective on school uniforms and you agree with my argument.

You’ve been a child, right? Some of us still are. Being a child is no easy task, you have to manage friendships, chores, sports and school, lots and LOTS of school.

As children, we are often overloaded with school and such activities all day long which isn’t the best for a growing child.

I believe that boredom is needed for creativity and that not enough relaxation can cause stress.

Boredom is needed for creativity. According to rainforestlearningcentre.ca “We may think of boredom as a negative thing. But it’s not! We don’t have to battle boredom for our children. On the one hand, it’s part of life. They can learn how to bring themselves out of boredom. But more importantly, boredom is good for you! If you think about it, that is when you start to brainstorm. It gets creative juices flowing.” This proves my thesis by highlighting the fact that boredom increases creativity. Some evidence from knowwithoutborders.org says “Recent studies on boredom and creativity suggest that boredom can actually enhance creativity.” This points out a recent study that proved that boredom is needed for creativity. In the future creativity will be a must for getting a job with artificial intelligence taking over the job market and creativity will make you a happier person in general.

Not enough relaxation can cause stress. thenaturalnurturer.com states that “Being a child is not only physically exhausting, but emotionally exhausting. Their brains are working overtime to absorb and process social situations, information, observations, and their own assessments of each event!” This proves my original thesis by showing reasons why kids need downtime. playworld.com mentions that “Relaxation supports good mental health which is essential to your child’s learning. When children relax, they’re able to think clearly with a positive attitude. It gives them time and space to reflect on their emotions which promotes better behavior.” This evidence proves my thesis by showing a fact that explains why relaxation is good. As kids we are always doing something which leaves no room for relaxation.

I believe that boredom is needed and that not enough relaxation can cause stress. To sum up, not enough relaxation can cause stress and that boredom is needed for creativity. A way we could improve relaxation and creativity is by giving kids time without screens and to play with friends outside.

Dear Charlotte Tilbury,

My name is Malisandre Vanderbilt. I'm a 7th grade student at Gunston Middle School. In 2022 when I would go to Sephora and see the Hollywood flawless filter be ALL sold out, I knew that it was more popular than I thought. Your products always perform to perfection because you have consistent high quality and you have unique products.

According to your website: you have sold over 5 million products and that’s a lot if you ask me. It also shows how popular they are. It also shows that people purchase you products. It also shows that 5 million people have bought your products and that 7% of the world's population. Also your Lip Cheat Lip Liner is your highest rated lip product: at 4 ½/5 stars as well as it’s cruelty free also the lip liner I have tried it in Hollywood Honey and it SLAYED 🤩 I love it and I have repurchased many times it was so versatile and it allowed me to look like I have lip filler!

Customers also love your Beauty Wands according to this review: “The wands are easy to apply because the innovative design” So people also love your Beauty Wands about 4 stars on Sephora and rated 4 ⅕ stars on your website personally I think it's quite unique but almost everyone is using it for example the E.l.f Halo Glow line had the same beauty wands the same with Tarte Blush, Sculpt and Glow tape use the same applicator.

Also with the theme of uniqueness the Hollywood Flawless filter was a BIG product in 2022 it kinda revolutionized the makeup world in 2022 there was the fall of 2016-2019 full glam makeup and brought us into the viral “Clean Girl Makeup” were the aforementioned Hollywood flawless filter allowed makeup artist to use the product to make a light glow over the skin I remember as i said in 2022 when I would go to Sephora and see it ALL sold out now its kinda dying down in 2024 but it is my holy grail!

In conclusion your brand has been a staple for years and there is so much uniqueness in your brand as well as there have been ups and downs throughout the history of your brand. I hope you read this letter.

Sincerely Mal,

Did you know that fornite in just the time span of 3 days, had more than 40 million new accounts of players that play the game? But there are many problems. Parents are trying to ban fortnite so kids can spend more time outside rather than trying to play video games inside the house.

I think that fornite shouldn’t be banned because many people can make money from streaming and gaming off the game and it can affect the workers at fortnite because if it gets banned they are going to have to find new jobs.

You may be asking what Fortnite is: Fortnite is a multi platform gun game across the world, it also holds more than 150 million accounts/ players.

Prince Harry wants to ban fortnite from kids. quote “That game shouldn't be allowed its way too addictive especially for young players” but I think Prince Harry shouldn’t try to ban fornite because many people can make a living off the game and it gives kids chances to have fun.

Body paragraph 1 many people play fortnite and it shows in stats stating that in the span of 24 hours peak the amount of players went from 3.9 million user to 33.3 million player in just a peak of 1 day total,The amount of people that play it can affect people’s payroll that make money off of fortnite

Prince Harry shouldn’t ban fortnite because people can make a living off the game and it gives kids chances to have fun.

Body paragraph 2

Fortnite has an even collaboration with many popular companies such as lego.

Lego fornite is going to have more success due to its huge update. ”Lego fortnite has been as successful as regular fortnite so far and should gain higher play count than base fortnite in its first few days when it dropped” this explains that fornite shouldn’t be banned due to working with a popular kids company such as lego. These huge updates to fornite can also make kids have fun with engineering and understand how to be more comfortable with technology. According to Medium, “Letting them mess with a game they’re already fluent with is a great way to show that the game doesn’t just exist. It’s made up of all these little things they're able to touch and Change.” I think these quotes are important because it shows how kids can be creative with the game because they’re already comfortable with it. Fortnite is having success with both lego and regular fortnite.

Body paragraph 3

Fortnite is a low violence game so parents approve. Although it does have guns but once you get shot by a player you just despawn and spawn back”.it proves my thesis because fortnite is parent approved and kid approved because it doesn’t have any violence that can hurt a kids brain..Fortnite is parent approve because although it has guns it does not glorify any blood or killing involved like other games for example call of duty which is a popular game that kids play now and days that have blood and kill of other players

Prince Harry wants to ban fortnite from kids. quote “That game shouldn't be allowed its way too addictive especially for young player”many people play fortnite and it shows in stats stating that in the span of 24 hours peak the amount of players went from 3.9 million user to 33.3 million player in just a peak of 1 day total

summaries:Why fortnite shouldn't be banned.Fortnite has even collaborated with many popular children's companies such as lego.Another reason Fortnite shouldn't be banned because it would impact the amount of people that play the game for fun and what does prince harry want to ban a game he never played

We need to stop people from trying to banned fortnite in other countries now

It's always exciting to hear about people's favorite products, especially when it comes to beauty and skincare. I’m a 7th grader in Arlington Virginia and my friends and I always talk about how great your lip balm is. I'm impressed by Summer Fridays because of your commitment to creating excellent quality products, specifically your lip balm which is my top choice, thanks to its high quality and long-lasting effect. Additionally, I really admire that your products are vegan and cruelty free.

I think your lip balm is amazing. Sephora describes your balm as a "silky vegan balm that hydrates and soothes lips in seconds," and I couldn't agree more. According to birdie.com, "From the moment you put this balm onto your lips, they become unbelievably soft and smooth. This left my lips without any uncomfortable feeling." This shows that your customers are satisfied and pleased with their lip balm, and the evidence speaks for itself that your lip balm quality is great.

I also think your product is long-lasting and of great quality. According to Camille from Camillestyles.com, "It sits beautifully on the lips, adding an enviable glossy sheen." This means it's perfect for those who are looking for lip gloss that stays on and looks great. According to customer reviews, it "gives off an effortless shine that you can wear on its own or over your favorite matte lip color products." It's perfect for any occasion because you can wear it on its own or with other lip products. Customers who use the lip gloss say it gives off a beautiful shine and is long-lasting.

In addition, I admire that your lip balm is vegan and cruelty-free. I believe that it's important for companies to prioritize cruelty free so that it ensures no more animals get hurt, and I'm glad that Summer Fridays is doing its part by creating products that are environmentally friendly and animal-friendly.

Overall, I just wanted to express how much I love your lip balm and how amazed I am with Summer Fridays as a brand. I look forward to trying more of your products in the future and recommending them to my friends and family. Thank you for creating such amazing skincare products that make people feel good and look great!

Sincerely a loyal customer,

Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, Pokémon. What do all of these world famous games have in common? They were all made by Nintendo! I knew that Nintendo was one of the most prominent game companies in the world and also the oldest in the world. In the beginning they were actually a card company. My thesis is that Nintendo is the best video game company because they have a wide array of games and consoles and created some of the most iconic games ever.

When most people think of Nintendo, they think of Mario or Pokémon, but did you know that according to the NIntendo History website, Nintendo has created around 660 games! 660 games seems inconceivable for one company, yet it shows that Nintendo has created an extensive library of games, not just the well known ones. Nowadays, unless you are a video game connoisseur, you probably only know the most recent, or most famous Nintendo consoles like the Switch or GameBoy. However, Nintendo History says that Nintendo has created 10 main consoles! The GameBoy, GameBoy Advance, Super NES, Nintendo 64, Nintendo GameCube, Wii, Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo Switch. 10 main consoles plus many different versions of them is a whopping number of consoles, but Nintendo still makes them up to date for the time and interactive for the user. Even though the famous games and consoles are what helped Nintendo rise to power, I think we should honor the amazing games that were overlooked, or the state of the art consoles that weren’t given a passing glance.

Some people may wonder, “Are Nintendo still making games that will be successful, or are they just coasting on their past victories, destined to eventually run out of steam and flop?”, well, statista states that on a graph of the best selling games of 2023, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom came in 5th place, Super Mario Bros Wonder came in 12th, and Mario Kart came in 19th. This shows that Nintendo has made extremely successful games in the past year and is not just using its status to reel in money and that Nintendo has stayed relevant in the ever evolving field of video games. I talked about how good the new games are, but the thing that really brought Nintendo to the top of the charts were their original games. According to a graph on Statista of the best selling games in history, Tetris was first with 520 million units sold, then Wii Sports came in 4th with 82.9 million units sold, Mario Kart 8+deluxe in 6th with 60.46 million units sold, and Super Mario Bros in 9th with 48 million units sold. This shows that Nintendo has made iconic games since the beginning and has made an amazing legacy which they continue to build to this day. In conclusion, it is easy to see that Nintendo was, is, and will remain to be, one of the most prominent video game companies in the world, because of their awesome games and long lasting products, not because of their famous name.

This collection of data shows why I think that Nintendo is the best video game company because they have a wide array of well made games and consoles and have also produced and/or released some of the most popular and iconic games of all time. So to end it off, if you don’t like Nintendo, you’re a Nintendolt! By Thomas

Did you know that Stranger Things delivered a whopping 5.1 billion viewing minutes across the four seasons? Millie Bobby Brown starred in that show. Millie is a 20 year old British actress who is best known for her role in Stranger things. She is an idol of mine because she is a very popular young actress and she shows me that you have to work for and how to get acting opportunities.

First Millie Bobby Brown is a very popular young actress. According to Gitnux, Stranger Things has remained one of the top ten most popular offerings in Netflix since July 2019. Millie starred in the show, and she gained a lot of popularity as the show gained popularity. According to IMbD, Millie has won 19 awards and has been nominated for 40 acting awards. The numbers speak for themselves-despite her young age, her acting skill and fame has been recognized through these awards and in many other ways.

Furthermore, Millie Bobby Brown shows me you have to work for opportunities and they don’t all just come to you. Before her role in Stranger Things, Millie had an audition in which an ‘important casting director’ told her she wouldn’t make it in the industry. This prompted her to nearly end her career, Millie said, Teen Vogue stated. This showed me that the road to success can be bumpy, and not being chosen every time doesn’t deny your skills. Additionally, Glamour magazine released an article on Millie’s hearing loss in one ear. This shows that you need perseverance to make it and her path is full of bumps and hills.

To finish it off, I aspire to be like Millie Bobby Brown.
Why Pikachu Is Overrated

Have people ever argued that Pikachu you know the literal rat Pokémon is one of the strongest Pokémon in existence? Has it ever ticked you off? This article shows you that Pikachu is overrated because its Base stat total is weak and everyone has their own reasons for hating this mouse but they do agree. If you’re reading this then you either agree with me or one of the people that think Pikachu is actually good. If you are one of those people then this article is going to show you how wrong you are.

Since this is Pokémon related then most of you reading this must know about base stat totals. If you don’t and think Pikachu is powerful then that shows how delusional you are, now let me talk some sense into you. First off let me explain what base stat totals are, they are the “power system” of the Pokémon world, the higher it is, the stronger the Pokémon is. The highest base stat total ever is a boss fight in the pokemon games sword and shield where Eternamax Eternadus has a base stat total of 1125 and you can’t turn it back into Eternamax form once you catch it. The lowest ever is base form Wishiwashi with 175 base power. Now back to Pikachu where its base stat total is 320 prior to Sinnoh and 340 from Sinnoh and later generations. All this information about base stat totals and whatnot are from Bulbapedia.com and Pokemondb.net and this is all factual evidence that proves that Pikachu is not as powerful as you think.

I know I’m not the only person who thinks the same way about Pikachu and I can prove it. For example screenrant.com roughly says that “It’s somewhat fast but totally weak, it’s outclassed by Raichu in every way.” My main problem with Pikachu is that it's too overrated and as moviecultists.com says “Although most people love or at least like the electric mouse, a lot of people hate Pikachu.” And that’s because of its unneeded popularity. Sure, Gamefreak (the company that made Pokémon) made Pikachu its mascot so of course it’s going to get lots of popularity but it was never the original choice for the mascot, the mascot of pokemon was supposed to be Clefairy but in reality it was a smarter move to pick Pikachu over Clefairy so I'll give them that.

To sum up everything that has been previously stated so far Pikachu is too overrated and way to overpowered in the anime leaving kids who only watched the anime and never played the games growing up and thinking that Pikachu is so strong and overpowered or they get the games and left wondering how their “almighty Pikachu” does no damage or got one-shot by a ground type. This article is to let everyone know that Pikachu is not as strong as people think because once again, it is weak and I’m sure you yourself have your own personal reasons on why you either love or hate this yellow mouse. Again, I personally hate it.

LINKS FOR THE SITES I USED:

Screenrant.com

Pokemondb.net

Bulbapedia.com

Moviecultists.com

Did you know that according to Petapedia, 40% of all dogs that get euthanized are pit bulls? This is mainly because of laws and regulations found in many states and countries called BSL, or breed specific legislation. I think that BSL is unfair to all dogs affected by it, mainly pit bulls, because it worsens the reputation of the dogs affected by it by making them look bad. In addition, BSL is unfair because there is no evidence that BSL makes communities safer. Instead public safety suffers because of BSL.

Pit bulls happen to be a breed that are very heavily affected by BSL because of the way that they look. However BSL isn’t doing them any favors. I think that BSL worsens pit bulls' reputation by making them look bad. After baiting dogs (which used to be the bull dog’s main job) got banned in the 1800s, pit bulls were thought to be loyal, good with children, and an all in all great house pet. However, in the late 1980s, it became popular to breed pit bulls for their power and aggression, and then fight them in illegal “underground” venues. This caused a lot of people to get injured by the dogs. Some news companies caught on and began publicizing these gruesome stories giving a bad reputation to any dog labeled as a pit bull. However the many well behaved pit bulls did not make the news.

The second reason that I think that BSL is unfair to pit bulls is because there is no evidence that BSL makes communities safer. In fact public safety suffers because of BSL. By regulating BSL community governments are trying to treat the result, a dog attack, instead of the cause, usually bad or sometimes illegal animal owners. As well as bad ownership, instead of giving up a precious pet, owners with banned dog breeds will avoid bringing their dog to public spaces such as parks or even the veterinary clinic. This can lead to problems for the dog and owner such as not enough exercise or not being spayed/neutered, it can also lead to bigger problems such as outbreaks of diseases such as rabies or other dangerous diseases.

Some people say that pit bull bans are good because pit bulls are often used in illegal “underground” fight clubs, however when pit bulls are banned illegal dog fighters, people who make money off of training and illegally fighting dogs, will just switch to other breeds of dogs. In 1990 when pit bulls were banned in Winnipeg, Canada, Rottweiler bites immediately increased. When the city changed the law in 2000 to be breed-neutral, all dog bites decreased.

In conclusion, I think that BSL is unfair to all dogs affected by it, mainly pit bulls, because it worsens their reputation and because there is no strong evidence proving that BSL makes communities safer. So next time you are looking for a dog and stumble across a pit bull in a shelter, think about how its life must be and at least look into it, because behind that large chest and chunky head there could very well be just a big heart full of love.

Why I should go visit my cousin Manuela!

Would you like to know a way where I can have less screen time while actually socializing in person? Then I have the solution. As you know Manuela lives all the way in Iowa! She must be all alone especially since she is home schooled, and if we don't see each other we might drift apart! You wouldn’t want to ruin such a good relationship, would you? However, I have some other reasons as to how visiting her is much better than a summer camp, and how I haven’t seen her since July 4th 2023, and the benefits of speaking in person.

Wait, how is that better than a summer camp you ask? Well let me explain my evidence. According to trustedcare.com, “The average overnight Summer camp costs anywhere from $1,000-$2,000 Per week.” In contrast, I calculated the average plane ticket from Reagan national airport in Washington D.C. to Des Moines International airport in Iowa for the month of June which came into a total of $442.73 (then becomes a total of $592.73 if you add the fee of me flying alone) even with all that plane tickets cost less than about 4 days at summer camp. As well as another piece of evidence said by Kidcentraltn.com, “Taking a vacation provides quality time that kids desire, also giving every family member a chance to unplug from their devices. This supports my opinion because, “having quality time with your family is better unlike summer camp which can result in anxiety of being without a family member” Congnisprings.com explains.

Think about it, How would you feel if you had to wait for months, or maybe years to see one of your favorite people? Well that’s what I have to go through. I haven’t seen Manuela in a very long time and after communicating a lot through screen, we miss each other and want to see each other in person -which again helps with less screen time knowing how much I call her- also if we don’t see each other in person we could risk us going distant! None of us would like to end such a wonderful friendship between me and my cousin.

Even though there are some people that may say that, “You can just call each other,” interacting in person is better in many ways. DP Taylor (works in Software) one of the key benefits of face to face communication is: Building stronger bonds compared to talking online. It’s interesting because you would think that someone who works in software would support screen time but Mr DP Taylor seems to realize how much more benefit you get from speaking in person than speaking online. This evidence supports my opinion for three reasons.

Less screen time.

We become closer.

More ways to have fun = Me being active.

Well now you are more informed about a way where I would have less screen time while socializing in person all while having fun by explaining how this is better than a summer camp, how I haven’t seen her in a long time, and the benefits of speaking in person compared to on the phone. Should I start packing now?

Open this link when you are done reading, Thank you!

Have you heard that plants have been dying at a rapid rate? Plants are dying quickly and if people don’t do anything about it it will cause the world many problems. Since plants and trees are the source of the oxygen we breathe, if they all die we won't have much oxygen to breathe. People should start planting more plants because the environment has been dying. These next paragraphs will talk about why I think people should start planting more plants and trees.

One reason I think people should plant more plants is because the environment has been dying. According to the Smithsonian institution, “Tropical trees in Australia’s rainforests have been dying at double the previous rate since the 1980s, potentially because of climate change, according to an international study published May 18 in the journal Nature.” This is reasonable because it proves that many plants have been dying, and that is not good for the planet. Also according to npr.org, “Microscopic plants in the ocean, called phytoplankton, are among the most important creatures on Earth and produce half of the planet's oxygen. But they are in trouble. A new study finds that since 1950, the amount of phytoplankton in the ocean’s surface waters — the basis of the oceans food web — has declined by 40 percent.” This relates because it shows that plants have been dying and if people plant more the new plants could fill in for the plants that have died. Those are some reasons why I think people should plant more since lots of plants have been dying at a fast rate.

Another reason why I think people should plant more plants is because plants are the source of the oxygen we humans breathe. According to Bowling Green University, “Trees improve our air quality by filtering harmful dust and pollutants such as ozone, carbon monoxide, and sulfur dioxide from the air we breathe.” This relates to how plants help our air by filtering it. As well, Michigan state university states that, “Plants also provide other ecosystem services, like cleaning outdoor and indoor air. Plants do so by absorbing gaseous pollutants, like ozone, nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxides, through their leaves when uptaking carbon dioxide for photosynthesis, however, plants also collect dust, ash, pollen and other particulate matter on their leaves and thus reduce the pollutants in the air breathed.” It shows how plants are good for oxygen. This is one more reason you should plant plants.

Those were some examples of why I think that people should plant more plants and trees. So technically if you plant more plants the plants should bring back more plants and animals. Also the plants give us oxygen so it would be good if people planted more plants to get more oxygen for humans and animals. So hearing all this doesn’t it make you want to plant more plants?

Are you an upset teen or child who feels taking the phone or other electronics isn’t always a fair punishment? Check out this article.

Also I'm a teen who gets their phone taken often so I feel I can use this article to help many other teens get fair punishments.

I don’t like getting my phone taken cause I can’t communicate with my friends. Also getting electronics confiscated is not always an appropriate punishment depending on the situation.

One reason I believe teens shouldn’t get their phone taken is it makes teens upset when it’s taken. I believe that when teens get their phones taken away they’re not able to communicate with their friends, and sometimes get upset at the parents for confiscating their phone.

According to "Child Mind” they say that “when phones are taken away as punishment, Dr. Peters says, "kids tend to withdraw from their parents.”

I feel that this evidence relates to and supports my thesis because I personally think I sometimes feel withdrawn and upset when my phone is taken.

Another reason I feel that you shouldn’t take away teens phones; sometimes people get their phones taken, and they know their not supposed to have it so they tend to sneak around with it without the parents knowledge, according to mirrorco, the text states that “It may even backfire as children might not tell you when they’ve gone online or shared if they’ve seen material that’s harmful or frightening.”

This is why confiscating the phone or other electronics might not always be the best punishment depending on their actions.

Taking away electronics isn’t always a logical punishment, the reason I say this statement is that I believe that like for example: If I don’t complete my schoolwork then my punishment should be to complete the missed work, and catch up on missing work. I feel that this punishment would be much more effective than just taking my phone because it actually makes sense.

My source I used to back up my evidence is Responsive Classroom, some information in the text states that “A logical consequence is a non-punitive response to misbehavior that allows teachers to set clear limits and students to fix and learn from their mistakes.”

I feel this evidence supports my thesis because it says that there are other punishments and options that can also make an impact other than just taking electronics away.

This evidence also supports my thesis because it makes sense that logic is used when making and forming punishments because it likely makes the punishment more effective. The text also says that “Logical consequences are the natural outcomes that result from a child’s actions with others or property.”

This evidence supports my thesis because it’s helping make my argument stronger by giving more resources.

Overall I feel like electronics or cellphones should only be taken away if it's logical, if it's not the punishment has no purpose.

The reason I think this is that teens may tend to hide stuff from their parents and teens will also tend to withdraw from their parents or caretakers.

So if you liked my reasoning and evidence in this article or passage maybe inform your parents or caretakers about logical punishment.

Apple has a long history of cutting performance on their devices in order to maximize build quality which works well for most users with a few exceptions, mainly gaming. Macs have always lacked the specs needed in order to play modern games, until the 2020 WWDC when Apple CEO Tim Cook announced a two year plan to stop using intel chips and instead begin using their custom made “Apple Silicon” chips. Apple silicon would have a huge ram support, An 8 core GPU on the base model cores compared to intel i7’s 4 core GPU and insanely good energy consumption, all of this sounded too good to be true, so everyone assumed their was about to be a giant price hike and the already crazy expensive price of the MacBook Pro was about to get even worse. Apple’s new processors are considerably better for gaming than previous Intel Macs but the prices are insane and there's still a long way to go.

When buying a product from Apple one of the most important things to consider is the price. Surprisingly Apple brought the price of the Mac down because of the M1 chip’s new system on chip technology or SoC which basically took everything that apple had to buy separately before and threw all of it onto one chip. This does not however mean that the new Mac was cheap in fact it was very far from cheap, the M1 MacBook came out with a starting price of 1,299 dollars and that was only the starting price, it gets worse from there. Apple’s RAM pricing scale is ridiculous. To upgrade from 8 gigs of ram to 16 apple charges $200 dollars when in reality that only costs $32 to produce which is around a 527% markup. Most recently the M3 lineup of chips have improved GPU performance tremendously, the M3 max GPU is 80% faster than M1 Max. However GPU performance is not the only that has improved, M3 max also supports up to 128GB of unified memory and accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading.

Silicon chips increased GPU performance on the Mac to a level suitable for gaming. So the main issue with Mac gaming is no longer GPU performance, its game support. Because Mac’s have a historically bad reputation for gaming, and because it's annoying to deal with Apple’s developer guidelines and fees, developers haven’t bothered to create versions of their games playable on MacOS. However There are solutions to this problem, CrossOver Mac allows users to use Windows software on their Mac by translating Windows commands into Mac commands. All of this comes at $74 dollars for the annual subscription and $494 for a lifetime subscription. The long term solution to this problem is Apple's new game porting toolkit which allows developers to port their games to MacOS much faster instead of the long and painful process in which developers have to remake their game to allow it to run natively in MacOS.

Although Apple has a very long way to go if they want Mac’s to be competitive in the gaming market things are getting better and we can hope they will continue to make changes to make the gaming experience better on their devices.

Both Haaland and Mbappe are amazing players but who do you think is better?

Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are soccer (futbol) players that play in different soccer leagues. Haaland plays in the English Premier League while Mbappe plays in the French Ligue 1. Mbappe might not have the best teammate’s but somehow Ligue 1's top scorer .He's super capable of playing almost any position too, Haaland seems to be falling off. What do you think.

Body Paragraph One

If you watch soccer you’ll notice that some really good teams are Manchester(Man) City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and also Inter Milan, but also that the reason a team is good is because the players/managers are good.

If you were to look at Haaland and Mbappè’s statistics you’ll see that they're both very good, but then again look at the teams they play on. Haaland plays at Man City while Mbappe play’s at Paris Saint Germain (PSG). If you look at the players they play with you’ll see the difference. Haaland play’s with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne (KDB), Ruben Dias, and lots more while Mbappe is really the engine of PSG with him scoring in almost every match, but some people might argue that Mbappe is “farming’ the French league (“Farming'' in soccer is like when you or your team are the only good players there. In this case Mbappe is “farming” the French League) but still Haaland has been ghosting in big games and seems to only score goals when he’s right near the goal (Called a “tap in”), The reason for this seems to be that he doesn’t really need to do anything as his team is ALREADY good.

Although according to Mbappe-Haaland.com Mbappe has a much better scoring average then Haaland. The reason for this seems to be that he doesn’t really need to do anything. On the other hand though Mbappe has been seen dropping back and helping in defense plus Starting up plays from the midfield. Haaland aslo has more space for growth as he’s playing in the English Premier League which is the Best league in the world at the moment Haaland can improve tremendously while Mbappe is playing in the worst of the top five leagues which means “easy dubs” for Mbappe and PSG.

This just shows that a player protected by the team's system is not an actually good player. Having an amazing team around you that helps you win almost every game is good but if you're only scoring goals and not anything else then that doesn’t make you the best striker/forward in the world.

Body Paragraph Two

Mbappe. left wing? for sure. Right wing? why not. Striker? Definitely.

Mbappe is one of the most complete players (individually) in the world, this is a KEY 🔑 ability in soccer if you want to one of the best which is exactly what Mbappe is.

Haaland on the other hand is known as a prolific striker, but only a striker. Mbappe on the other hand can play both wings and a striker, being able to not always play your favorite position for the team is a very divisive skill which Mbappe is capable of, but going back to my first reason, Haaland has a hole team that’s built around him so it isn’t really necessary for him to play all those other positions but it still shows that Mbappe is a bit better than Haaland when it comes to all around abilities.

Mbappe, being very fast, is able to burst into high speeds when needed. This helps Mbappe get past defenders with ease. Mbappe is also capable of DEFENDING. If you’ve seen Mbappe play you’ll know that he’s able to start plays from the back, dribble, and run at high speeds. Although I’m not saying Mbappe is always dropping back, I’m just saying that Mbappe is capable of, an to back it up has been SEEN dropping, and if he’s not he’s the Midfielder’s first resort if there’s a fast counterattack.

This just shows that there’s more to an individual amazing soccer player than you think, as it is not only scoring goals but more.

Conclusion Paragraph

Mbappe and Haaland are both still amazing players but Mbappe seems to stand out just a bit, and to support this Mbappe is a very complete player individually, while also being able to carry his teams on his shoulders. Do you agree?

These reasons and much more could be the beginning of a friendship between us.

I believe we could have a genuine friendship because we both have the same interests and even could be friends if I am not famous.

My first reason comes from a yahoo.com article that states, “While some celebrities regularly hang out with other celebrities, others spend time with friends outside of the industry.” This supports my idea because i'm not famous, so it increases the potential of us being friends.

In a video made when you played for Chelsea FC, you said you spoke three languages: Portuguese, Spanish and English. This would benefit both of us because I speak English, but I am also learning Portuguese. so I could help you improve your English and you could help me improve my Portuguese.

besides, we would be great friends because we both have the same interests.

- We both like to eat

- We both like the beach

- We both don't like Mondays

- We both like summer

- We both like Lunay

but we could also share new interests that we have.

Now, some might say you're too old to be my friend, but age in friendships doesn't really matter. An article on Quora.com states that “yes, platonic friendships are ageless. It is normal for a person of any age to be friends with another person of any age, as long as there is no romance or sex involved and boundaries are respected.” Currently this is a true statement because I am only 12 years old and you are 24. So this initially means we are 12 years apart.

Ultimately, I think we should be friends and most of these reasons are valid. But you can decide whether or not we should be friends. So if you didn't want to be my friend, I would respect that. But I would really think about it.

Wishing you good luck in your games and future clubs!

From your biggest fan,

- ___ ______

Have you ever been stereotyped before in your life? Ever? I bet you have. In fact, I’m 100% sure you have. I definitely have. Honestly, there are some stereotypes that should either stay in your brain or just be gotten rid of. Right now, I’m specifically talking about lesbian stereotypes. Most of these we should really dump in the trash can. They can promote homophobic activities and hold lesbians back from the community. They can also affect mental health negatively, which leads to many things going wrong.

There are many stereotypes that may or may not apply to every single human in that community. Some examples of what people might say after you come out as lesbian include: “But all lesbians hate guys,” “You don’t look gay,” “I thought all lesbians liked sports,” and (if the person is female) “Oh. So you like me?” These statements, and many, many others, are things you should look out for when, as a lesbian, you come out to anyone. Be aware that, while this may seem small, stereotypes like these can lead to very major consequences.

These stereotypes can also play a major role in how lesbians are treated. In January two years ago, a homosexual couple from Texas was forced to experience SA and then were murdered. In 2019, there was an attack on a London bus, where a WLW (Woman loving woman or women who love women) couple was asked to kiss, and then was assaulted. These are only a couple examples of the violent homophobic activities against the lesbian community, and more can be fueled by these stereotypes.

Additionally, in less than a year (June 2022–April 2023), there were 356 recorded incidents throughout the year, with 305 being harassment, 11 assault, and 40 vandalism. Things like these are hurtful, and can impact how safe individuals feel in being lesbian (ADL).

These stereotypes can affect peoples’ mental health negatively as well. A quote from Marci Warhaft states that, “There are some stereotypes [of lesbian people] that did make me question if I should come out, but also if I was actually gay.” This is an example of how people can feel withheld from the overall community.

Not only do they do all that, but when someone is reminded of stereotypes around them, they perform differently on tests and other things. Right now, I’m not talking about only lesbian stereotypes, but literally any other stereotype that applies to any person. Mental health is not something to be toyed with, and can affect everyday activities, making them harder and less enjoyable if bad.

So please, please stop addressing this community as if everyone in it grouped into one giant person rather than staying as a bunch of normal-sized ones, and stop labeling people based on something like someone’s sexuality. It’s disheartening, it can promote homophobic activities, and it’s just wrong. Basically, my message is this; try to be more aware of what you’re saying and if it’s going to hurt someone else.

One more thing, if you are part of the LGBTQIA+ community (not only the lesbian community), if you tell a friend (or really anyone) you’re sexual/gender orientation and they say, “But you don’t look/act _______,” explain to them that that is only a stereotype and that everyone is their own person, and that doesn’t have to fit what someone else thinks of them.

Sources and Works Cited

ADL. “Year in Review: Anti-LGBTQ+ Hate & Extremism Incidents, 2022 – 2023.” ADL, 22 June 2023, https://www.adl.org/resources/report/year-review-anti-lgbtq-hate-extremism-incidents-2022-2023.

Too much work and not enough time.My name is _________ _____ and I am a seventh grade student at Gunston Middle School. I am sending this letter about the amount of homework students are receiving. Lots of kids spend their afternoons playing sports or partaking in a club but then they go home to a mountain of homework. By the time they get to bed there is no way they could get a healthy amount of sleep.

After School activities are highly requested with nearly 10.2 million children and youth who participate (youth.gov) and not without good cause as children who participate in after school activities have better attendance and tend to act out less than other students(ncbi.nlm.nih.gov).

With the amount of pressure there is on kids it’s no wonder they aren’t getting enough sleep . 6-12 year olds are supposed to get 9-12 hours of sleep and 13-18 year olds are supposed to get 8-10 hours of sleep (cdc.org) if children don’t get this much sleep it is likely that they will… fall asleep during the day, be hyperactive, have trouble paying attention, struggle with school work or have behavior problems(kidshealth.org)If you look at the math it isn’t possible, lets say you get 5 homework assignments a class (some teachers give more some give less) that is 35 homework assignments. With 24 hour in a day subtract 6 hours and 45 minutes of school is 17 hour and 15 minutes subtract 12 hours of sleep is roughly 5 hours and 15 minutes subtract 2 hours of getting ready for bed and eating dinner and chores is 3 hours subtract 2 hours of after school activities leaves you with 1 hours to do your homework that is 60 minutes and 35 assignments. Thats not even 2 minutes per assignment!

Some people say that homework helps with test results but is testing the most important thing going on in a child's life.

Looking at this data you can see that we can't cut back on after school activities or sleep, leaving the only thing left to be cut back on is homework. So I think that we need to cut back on the amount of homework for students so kids can spend more time with their families and enjoy their childhood .

Sincerely,

_________ _____

I believe that the school lunch should be better quality, and should have more fruit options. I may be a student but my voice should still be heard, I’m still important even if I am small compared to other people. Still, no matter what height I am, this letter is pretty important so get comfortable because this is gonna be long.

According to people at lunch, mostly students, the food sometimes sucks and gives them a stomach ache, because the lunch people hurry to serve and just give the lunch out. I believe that the school should have more food options or choices. What I mean by that is more lactose-safe foods because sometimes people don't have the time to make lunch or don’t have any food at all to eat and that’s why they eat the school lunch even if it upsets their stomach.

I have realized that 60%-80% of the school's weekly lunches contain and you know what I'm talking about, Dairy that sweet milk that you need to grow Strong and tall,

well as you guys know people are lactose sensitive/intolerant, I am lactose sensitive and I just couldn’t bear to see that more than half of the school lunches are not lactose safe. Scientists have proven that people who are Hispanic or any other race are more likely to be lactose intolerant/sensitive and more than 50% of the schools are filled with Hispanics, colored people, asian americans, etc.

Kids love fruits like watermelon, melon, strawberries, etc, but people have been noticing that there isn’t any fruit anymore besides bananas, apples, and oranges which are kinda boring and would like more fruit options as a snack or a treat. A ton of students remember the ice cream that was given in lunch and miss it along with tons of old things and wonder why we do not have them anymore where they go, why they took them out, and when they are coming back.

Sincerely,

___ _______.

Did you know the APS students find the school lunch gross and disgusting? “There was this one dried out grape that was stuck to the other grapes and had black residue on it,” says Hunter, an APS student. School lunches across the US are known for being nasty and gross. We should enhance the APS school lunches so students can feel safe eating school lunch and get the nutrition they deserve. Right now there aren’t a lot of options if you have food allergies and the food can be unsanitary and unsafe.

Many school lunches have dairy, soy and gluten which are common allergies. An APS student named Christiana complains, “One time I had nothing to eat because I am allergic to fish and nuts.” This is an example of a student who skipped lunch just because they couldn’t eat anything. According to Nutrislice, on March 1 2024, there were no dairy free and gluten free options. This is concerning because dairy and gluten allergies are one of the most common allergies. If APS added more options for students with allergies they would be able to eat the school lunch without having to worry about if it is okay for them to eat.

In addition, APS school lunches are unsanitary and unsafe. Henry, an APS student claims, “I once got a pear and it was moldy.” This evidence shows that school food is unsafe for students to eat. Another student named Bria reports, “One time all the cheese pizzas were raw and some kids ate them and got sick.” This is extremely concerning especially because it was not just one pizza, it was all of them. APS should change the school lunches to make them safe for students to eat.

In conclusion, I think APS should give their students better school lunches. Some people say the school lunches are fine, but they are truly not. I found a chunk of hair in my pasta once. That is not okay. That is not safe. APS students should be able to feel comfortable eating the school lunch without having to worry if it’s safe for them to eat. We should say goodbye to gross, moldy meals and hello to yummy and nutritious school lunches!

Have you ever wondered if your cookie was the inferior cookie? Well come find out what the true best cookie is! the oatmeal raisin cookie is the best cookie because it doesn’t use child labor like the chocolate industry, it is also healthier than the favorite cookie-chocolate chip cookies.

The first reason is that the chocolate industry often uses criminal activities like using child labor. in a government article on child labor it states, “Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana, together, produce nearly 60% of the world’s cocoa each year, but the latest estimates found that 1.56 million children are engaged in child labor on cocoa farms in these two countries.” Therefore 60% of the worlds chocolate is produced by child laborers, making chocolate chips and anything cocoa related have a high chance to have been farmed by a child laborer.

Additionally In a different article it states, “Approximately 2.1 million children in the Ivory Coast and Ghana work on cocoa farms, most of whom are likely exposed to the worst forms of child labor.” Ultimately more then 1 million children are exploited to make chocolate, thus making chocolate an item that has used and exploited child labor, making oatmeal raisin cookies better because oat meal raisin cookies do not use child labor.

In the articles on Raisin oatmeal cookies nutrition I found that they are also healthier than many other cookies, including chocolate chip. According to a few sources about the nutritional value of oatmeal raisin cookies, it states that oatmeal raisin cookies sold in stores have 3% iron, potassium and a decent bit of other vitamins. This is why oatmeal raisin is better, as its more healthy, even when store bought and not homemade.

This is why the oatmeal raisin cookie is the best kind of cookie, because while child labor is widely use in the chocolate industry, the raisin and oatmeal industry doesn’t use it, it is also healthier than the current favorite, chocolate chip cookies.

Dear peers,

Have you ever had an experience where someone snapped at you/you snapped at someone else for no reason? For example, if your friend would stop getting mad at you, or if someone in your school just argues with you for no reason (even if you didn’t do anything to them). Oftentimes, relationships can become toxic due to unnecessary arguments that can be avoided. This letter is about why I believe people shouldn’t verbally snap at something/someone when the situation is not that serious. It can cause friendship damage, and even worse, physical fighting. In these next few paragraphs, I’ll explain why this may be.

First of all, I will dive into how it can damage friendships. I will also explain why that is an issue. As you might already know from experience, sometimes arguing with someone can lead to stress and anxiety. According to the New York Times, “Strong friendships can lower our blood pressure, protect against depression and help us live longer, while those that we’re ambivalent about can raise our blood pressure and cause anxiety”. This means that if we have unnecessary drama (from snapping at people) within friendships, it can cause potential health issues. Other things that can happen are going no contact and even ending the friendship if unnecessary arguments happen too often. “It will make me feel really sad because we’re like so close and a friend is someone that you should not argue with to the point that the friendship is OVER.”, says 6th grade student, Kamilla Zavala. In summary, if we avoid verbally snapping at people for no reason, we can prevent friendship problems like these happen.

Secondly, I will explain why verbally snapping at people for no reason can lead to physical fighting. Oftentimes, especially in middle or high school (as you may know from experience), if something gets too serious or escalates too much, people usually end up throwing hands. According to Shineca S., a school nurse, “If people feel disrespected, it makes them emotional and they wanna fight you. It’s usually from escalation…”. We can prevent this from happening by either ending something that’s not too serious before it escalates (ex. discussing with a friend about an argument), or avoid snapping at something unserious in the first place. This will make physical fighting less likely to happen. Another example of this happening was when someone witnessed their friend and someone else arguing. “I witnessed a fight in first grade where this girl named Clara was kicking a girl named Rebecca. Rebecca’s friend asked Clara to stop, and then Clara asked Rebecca’s friend if she wanted to fight. They ended up fighting. I don’t think the girl should’ve kicked Rebecca because she seemed bored and could’ve done something else.” The person requested to remain anonymous, so the names are not the actual names of the people involved with the situation. I think that if Clara avoided kicking Rebecca in the first place, it would not have ended up in a physical fight. To summarize this paragraph, if you try to prevent verbally snapping at people for no reason, it can avoid a lot of physical fighting.

Some people may think that “well, sometimes things really are too serious, and it can just not be considered serious by someone else even if it really is”. However, there is a possibility that things may actually not be that serious and may just seem serious from certain point of views. Sometimes, this may happen to people because of escalation/build up from situations in the past, but when they tell someone else about their issue, they later realize that it really isn’t that serious. This is called resentment. According to GoodTherapy, “Feelings of resentment are not linked to any particular mental condition but may instead result from the inadequate expression of emotions after a painful experience.”. Snapping at someone because of something that’s not serious may come from something that’s not even related to the person they were snapping at either. For example, say a friend snaps at you, but it’s really that it has something to do with family drama that’s currently going on in their house. However, if the reason they verbally snap does have something to do with the person they verbally snap at, I think that you should be aware of what you say/how you react to the things your friends say so someone doesn't end up snapping at you. To conclude this paragraph, avoiding verbally snapping at people with things that aren’t so serious can prevent resentment too.

All in all, I think that people should avoid snapping at others for things that aren’t serious. Avoiding verbally snapping at others can prevent friendship damage, physical fighting, and resentment later on. In order to keep a friendly and welcoming community, let’s all agree to think for a couple of seconds about an upsetting situation before reacting to it.

Sincerely,

(Anonymous)

Why should students have access to feminine products for free

Hello Ms.jackson, I am a student from Guston, and I believe that all women bathrooms should have a dispenser for feminine products. students at Gunston have been stressed about making sure they packed pads, or if they even have pads or tampons. I want our school to be able to have feminine products in the bathrooms, so that students at Gunston can recall when it comes to changing their pad or tampon at school.

I want you to think if you have ever noticed how many students receive their period every month, but have you ever noticed how much those products cost? Plus the tax on menstrual products that students need in order to function and do every day life? Students across the world get their menstrual cycle, and in order to function and do every day stuff they need menstrual products, so that they don’t ruin their clothing, or get made fun of because they have a stain on their clothing. But have you ever thought of the students who may not be able to afford those products, because of personal reasons?

Students across the world are faced to face with this problem, not being able to afford or not being able to obtain menstrual products, because they either didn’t know or they couldn’t afford it, making them unable to function and being comfortable to function at school, in results to that in some schools some students have chosen to stay home when they have their menstrual cycle, being as to they don’t have the money or are even too embarrassed to ask for a pad or a tampon from another classmate.

These are things that every day women students deal with, I believe and I know a lot of other people believe that schools should be able to provide products in the bathroom for students to use when on their cycle, and yes some school nurses provide products but for kids who are to embarrassed or to shy to ask don’t end up having anything and as I said end up using what they have available, which most of the time is toilet paper, or if they do have a pad or something of some sort that provides them protection, they may not change it frequently as they should because they may only have that only product available at that time. And yes some schools do have dispensers but most of the time you need to pay, or they may not work, or even so don’t even have products in there and just may be an empty mechanine in the bathroom. This have been a discussion for quite a while, and some schools have done something about it, in an article from pbs.org have stated that some schools have dispensers in the bathrooms that work and that don’t make you pay, and for students not to take advantage of the free products have put a timer on it, it’s about a one minute wait after someone presses the button for a period product. Providence officials have said that they haven't had these challenges, and that the $75,000 set aside for this initiative is a fraction of the $75 million city budget. We have the funds, we have the ideas, we just need someone with great power to take action for all schools.

Some students not being able to afford menstrual products

Some kids have reported to some news reporters so teachers about how expensive feminine products have become. Feminine products shouldn’t be viewed as a luxury item, but as a product that should be considered normal and shouldn’t have to be so expensive. from the article pbs.org a Sixteen-year-old Litzy Feliz has friends who stay home when on their period, because they can’t afford pads. Some have even reported that kids would use toilet paper as a pad or not even change their pad regularly or any menstrual item because they don’t know if they can afford to use another one. Feminine products should be available to all students, kids shouldn’t have stress on being able to have access to feminine products, they should be focused more on studying, instead of making sure they have another pad or tampon in there bag to change into, or making sure they don’t bleed through there pants because they aren’t using the appropriate products. Women need feminine products to do their everyday things.

From the article girlshelpinggirlsperiod.org they have said that “they have received a note from a school nurse in a district where most families struggle financially”, showing that some families cannot afford to buy feminine products for their family, being as to it’s expensive. I believe that we can afford feminine products for our school, so what’s stopping you from doing it?

Sincerely from a Gonstun student,

At Gunston middle school we don’t have an easy accessible way to do this because the only store that sells merchandise for gunston is an online store that takes up to six weeks to deliver things. It would be easier for students to show their school spirit if we had a school store that’s close to us and is set up during school sports games and sports events. We should have an in person school store because if there was easy to purchase food at events people would be more willing and likely to come, people are more willing to buy from an in person school store so they can get their products immediately, and the store would support the teams.

We should have a school store because if there is easy access to food at events for school people would be likely and willing to attend them. “If we have a school store we would be able to represent gunston, and be able to buy things at events” says Helen during an interview. In another interview Cailin says “Yeah, I think there should be a school store because like depending on what there is in it it would be very helpful if there’s food and snacks for students who are hungry.” Both of these interviews prove that having food and other products at games increases the likelihood of people attending.

Another reason we should have an in person school store is that people are more willing to buy from the school store if they get their products immediately.“When asked whether they generally prefer to buy things online or from a physical store, 57% of U.S. adults say, given the choice, they prefer in-person shopping. A smaller share (38%) opt for an online experience.” Which was written in an interview from pewresearch.org. “I would rather have an in person store so I could get the things that I buy faster and immediately rather than with our school store taking like two weeks to ship and I would want to go to an in person store more than an online store” says Jorie during an interview. “I’d rather buy from an in person store because it would be easier to get your stuff and in a faster amount of time.” Said Helen. All these pieces of evidence support my reason by proving that most everyone would much rather buy from an in person school store so that they could get their products immediately instead of having to wait for them to ship.

The last reason why we should have a school store is because the funds could go to supporting the gunston sports teams. During yet another interview with Jorie I asked her if she would rather buy from a store that’s supporting gunstons teams, “yes because I was on the girls

soccer team for gunston and I would much rather buy from a store that’s going to fund my own schools teams.” “I would rather buy from a school store that supports my school’s sports teams” says Eabha in another interview. This evidence supports my reasons because it proves that people I like spending money if it goes to a good cause like their schools sports teams.

In conclusion, I think we should have a school store at school sports games and events because people would be more willing to attend the events if there was food there, people are more likely to buy from an in person store than our schools current online store because it takes a long time to deliver and if they bought from our in person store they would get their products immediately, and because the funds made of the store could go to supporting the schools sports teams. Local stores connect people and help make a feel of community so gunston administration please consider my request to create a school store at gunston sports games and events.

Sincerely,

A Gunston student

Dear Stephen Winkelmann,

How much do you really like supercars? I want you to really think about it, and do that while I tell you how much I like them. Well I know that I love supercars, especially any Lamborghini, which happens to be my favorite. And this is why I believe that Lamborghini is the best supercar brand and my personal favorite. I believe this because Lamborghini had one of the most revolutionary ideas of supercar brands of the 21st century. The Urus. And why you and I think that supercars look good for a reason.

Lamborghini had one of the most revolutionary ideas of supercar brands of the 21st century. The Urus.

”The Urus feels athletic from behind the steering wheel, too, with quick steering and stable high speed cornering. With air springs at all four corners, the urus has adjustable ride heights based on its various drive modes. Standard carbon-ceramic brakes ensure that the Urus stops as well as it goes- braking from 70 mph to a stop in 149 feet.” This quote is from, Car and Driver.com.

Also the urus is the most successful Lamborghini ever, selling over 10,000 in the first 4 years, breaking the company record. And the Urus broke the Lamborghini record for most cars sold, and now there have been more than 20,000 Uruss sold.

Also, a quote from Top gear.com.

”We can admire what Lamborghini has achieved with the Urus. It has successfully beaten physics into a bloody pulp with the application of the very latest technology, and blended it all together to a masterful effect. The way it tears up a racetrack has to be experienced to be believed. It's not playful, or subtle, but brutally effective in a way your eyes tell you it shouldn't be. And then there’s the actual space inside, and the fact it does the boring everyday stuff with ease.”

To furthermore move my point around. The Urus is a beast in general, with skill, precision, and speed around a track, and a brutal off-road capability, going through thick mud or climbing high mountains. And to add to the success, the Urus made a staggering 1,800,000,000 pounds sterling, which is 2,304,666,000 in american dollars.

This is why you and I think that supercars look good, for a reason.

”Supercars represent ambition in terms of technology, styling, and execution. No one needs to travel anywhere at 250 mph in a car even if they could, because a light aircraft or helicopter would do the job better or more efficiently. But theres a huge element of whimsy and testosterone all bundled up in these machines, each striving to be bigger, better, faster, louder. It sounds like a bizarre advert for toxic masculinity, but beneath the violent colors and flaming exhausts, dive planes and pic-nic table wings, there's a common thread: supercars are expressive, excessive, awe-inspiring and aspirational.” This is from Top gear.com (again, I know).

Supercars are not normal, and that is why people fantasize over them, and on top of that, they are very hard to get and to even see sometimes. But that is why i like them, they are not normal like the cars you would see on the road everyday, they are special.

And Autogesspot.com says:

”Supercars are some of the most sought after vehicles in the in world, and for good reason. They offer a combination of power, performance, and luxury that is hard to find elsewhere. But what makes them so special? Simply put, the combination of aforementioned aspects. People are often left in awe just by the presence of a supercar because that vehicle seems to be from another world compared to what people normally drive today.”

And Lamborghini has some of the most alien looking cars too, especially their space themed cars from the 70’s. But the most alien looking of all was the Countach, which is why many people loved it.

Some people might say that supercars and hypercars have no purpose and are too expensive.

But I believe that supercars and hypercars have a certain wow factor because of the good looks, and they are so expensive as they are extremely hard to make and it gives more of a sense of exclusivity.

And here is a quote from Business insider.com.

”What do you do with horsepower in excess of 600 ponies? Who knows, because in 99.99% of driving circumstances, you’re not going to use it. But you will incinerate gasoline at an alarming rate. But if you do try to tap into the power, you run a gamut of risks. You could lose control of the car and have a very costly accident. You could pay no attention to your actual speed and endure a very costly speeding ticket.”

Really, the only purpose that supercars have is to show off, and maybe to go fast. And just to buy some supercars, you would have to buy a couple more from the same brand, just to be on a list, that you will maybe get. And to replace anything like a headlight or just a dent, it's going to cost you at least a couple thousand dollars.

In conclusion I still think that Lamborghini is the best and you can’t change my mind, but I hope that I made you really wonder about supercars. Thank you for reading, the end.

P. S.

All of my life I have thought that supercars and hypercars are awesome. But about five months ago, I went to the DC auto show, and in the basement level I saw a black Lamborghini Countach in person. Ever since then, it has been my favorite car, I have now spent many hours researching the Countach and other cars. I've just been fascinated by it. The Countach is just so different compared to all of the other Lamborghini cars, and from other car brands.

From Anders Hirst.

As AI becomes increasingly integrated into technology, we see AI in our daily lives being used in so many things, like cars, web browsers, tools like Microsoft Excel, and even refrigerators. AI in its first stages was using spotty tools like OpenAI. For example, GPT2 was very bad, and these characteristics carry over to GPT4, the latest AI from OpenAI that most companies use for their AI tools. That's why I think that the expectations at the moment are way too high. Also, it would be dangerous if we used it in an industrial environment in its current state.

Body Paragraph 1 (expectations are too high)

Ohio State University wrote an article about AI saying that..“AI has already been used to assess crime and risk in the criminal justice system and has even provided medical analysis and diagnoses in the health care field.” It's an issue that AI does not have feelings, and it only picks the most ethical choice. As for involuntary manslaughter, the AI might not be able to have empathy in order to understand the offender's situation. This is an example of the expectations for AI at the moment being way too high.

Body Paragraph 2 (Racist AI)

People think that AI is all smart, but they don't know that AI has to be trained on pre-existing information. For example, if you were to feed an AI racist information to be trained on, the AI would take that information and try to comprehend it, and without restrictions, you just made a racist AI. A lot of AI companies just take information from the internet containing sensitive information and a lot of ideas and opinions about historical events and expect the AI to know what is right and wrong. According to nature.com, "That images generated by the popular tools Stable Diffusion, released by the firm Stability AI, and DALL·E, from OpenAI, overwhelmingly resorted to common stereotypes, such as associating the word ‘Africa’ with poverty or ‘poor’ with dark skin tones.”

Body Paragraph 2 (it would be dangerous to use in its current state)

Speaking about AI tools, we have seen so many AIs go rogue. A good example is Microsoft's "Co-pilot.” A great AI with great features had an incident with its beta testers where it tried to steal a husband. fortune.com wrote “Microsoft Corp. said it’s investigating reports that its Copilot chatbot is generating responses that users have called bizarre, disturbing, and, in some cases, harmful.” Sure the AI was in beta but it should have been tested more!

Conclusion

In conclusion, I think that AI is a good tool for users of technology, but it needs a lot more regulations before it's used in a high-stakes or zero-error workforce environment because AI can still make mistakes in its current state. So please be careful with AI.

\

Introduction

Did you know that children in the United States eat 45,000 pounds of sugar everyday? This large amount of sugar will prevent you from getting a healthy amount of sleep. The reason you might not be able to sleep is not because you got enough sleep it’s because you might have developed a symptom called insomnia which prevents you from falling asleep. People should monitor their sugar level because it might taste good but eating too much sugar can cause diseases like diabetes which causes you to develop insomnia. Another fact about eating too much sugar is that it can lead to heart failure or any organ in your body.

Body Paragraph 1

Eating too much sugar can cause many problems to your body and eating too much at a young age could lead to problems in the future. Some health problems that you will commonly develop are mostly your blood can increase your glucose level, having too much glucose can lead to you having more diseases including cancer, when you have too much glucose your body won't be able to produce insulin to normalize the sugar level.

Which is like a glue to clear scars and open wounds and when you have too much it can mess up alot or over use the glue and make your red blood cells filled with too much sugar.

The reason why it's bad if your blood sugar rises is called DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis) which is when your blood sugar has a spike which can damage mostly your nerve systems. Excess sugar can also cause cancers (New York times magazine, 2019). “Sugar is associated not only with weight gain but also with many types of cancer, The American cancer society suggests that you shouldn’t eat too much sugar at a young age to avoid health risks. When children are young and eat a lot of sugary foods it's bad because their bodies are still developing and not strong enough yet to handle that much sugar.

In addition, “Dr Herrick warned that exposing children to sugary foods when they are young could impact taste preferences when they are older.” If a child has too much sugar it can lead to a child eating and liking junk food more than healthy foods. Sugar can cause many problems in your body that you might not feel but you later on could lead to organ failure.

Body Paragraph 2

When you're born with diabetes it's called having type 1 diabetes. When you develop diabetes later on in your life it's type 2 diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is another reason why people develop insomnia. Consuming yogurt may reduce your chances of getting diabetes. Yogurt can help you lower the risk because of the proteins and vitamins that help your blood and equal your sugar level.

In addition,“Dr Herrick warned that exposing children to sugary foods when they are young could impact taste preferences when they are older. If a child has too much sugar it can lead to a child eating and liking junk food more than healthy foods. sugar can cause many problems in your body that you might not feel but you later on could lead to organ failure.

Insomnia can prevent you from falling asleep and you not falling asleep could impact your body a lot. Over 9000 Americans over the age of 65 say that they have trouble falling asleep,Insomnia is a symptom that causes you to not fall asleep which is very bad for your body because without rest your body can not function as much because it loses energy and sleeping hives your body the energy to get through the day.

Conclusion

According to New York Times Magazines (May 14 2019) people should monitor their sugar level because if their sugar level gets really high it could affect their sugar level. When developing diabetes it can cause a lot of problems later in your life which is why there are many ways to lower the risk of getting diabetes like diets, exercise, meditation, etc .Once you develop diabetes you can’t get rid of it, many people can get rid of it but some people can reverse their diabetes, which is why you should make sure you have a healthy lifestyle to live your life without having to worry about having diabetes.

Support The Ocean Cleanup

14 million tons of plastic are dumped into the ocean each year(iucn.org), and more is coming. The Ocean Cleanup is an organism that was created in February, 2013. The organization is cleaning up our ocean with new technologies. The Ocean Cleanup should be encouraged, funded, and advertised by politicians and the government, and the two best ways they could help are by funding the new effective technologies and making sure U.S rivers and bodies of water are kept clean.

The first way the government can help keep the oceans clean is by funding and encouraging the new technologies that The Ocean Cleanup has created. The government should do that because according to theoceancleanup.com, “System 002 removed a total of 282,787 kilograms of trash from the ocean while covering 8,352 km2 as of August 2023.” This shows that the new technology, or system 002 is picking up massive amounts of trash and covering huge amounts of water. Also, according to bbc.com, The Ocean Cleanup uses a massive U-shaped barrier to capture trash while the boats are moving. This allows the boat to capture more trash while moving. Additionally, also from an article on bbc.com, The Ocean Cleanup uses AI to anticipate where trash clusters will be, and where to target. This is helpful because the AI can see where areas with the highest concentration of trash are, and anticipate where they will go. To summarize, these new technologies have been proven worthy because of testing and massive results.

Another way the government can help keep the oceans clean and help The Ocean Cleanup is to make sure the U.S. bodies of water are kept clean. According to noaa.gov, most pollution comes from a certain type, called nonpoint source pollution. This is a result of runoff so anything lying around can be caught and led down storm drains or into rivers. This is very important. It shows that politicians need to create commercials and release statements against polluting because it could end up in runoff. The second way we could keep our rivers clean is to stop single-use plastics. From Nrdc.org, single-use plastics are used to prioritize convenience over durability and the long-term impacts on the environment. They are plastics that are not recycled. This is important because it shows that single-use plastics should be banned by the government. Also, plastics can’t end up in the ocean. To summarize, we need to prevent single-use plastics and prevent nonpoint source pollution.

Ultimately, the government needs to encourage and fund The Ocean Cleanup on its mission to clean our oceans. The new technologies are incredibly effective and need to be helped, and we need to make sure that less trash enters the ocean, at least from U.S rivers. The Ocean Cleanup is. Saving our oceans, so Politicians must fund, advertise, and support this massive cleanup.

Thank you for your time, Emmett Wiedemann

Hellcats are amazing charger cars that can go up to or over 211 mph. Hellcats are also the best car because of how much power they hold and the top tier comfort and historic design!

Hellcats are amazing because they hold so much power and the noise it makes is even more powerful. Hellcats have a V8 engine which lets them travel ridiculously fast!

Here at Gunston the lockers we get really help us in many ways but there’s one problem that I’m going to discuss with you right now, And that discussion is about the locks for the lockers. For example, we have a few minutes before the second bell and if are locks get jammed, then we have to use the time we have left to open and grab are stuff but the thing is, we would most likely be late.

Well here is my solution, my solution is to replace the locks with a newer lock that would make it easier for students to open their locker and get to class on time without being late. To make this idea a 100% win win, I will tell you the price difference.

The locks we have now are 7.00$ per lock and would be a pain to replace if we have over a 1,000 students but the newer lock I’m suggesting are 5.99$ per lock and it may not seem like that much of a difference but you would be saving 1.00$ per lock and there are about 1,183 students at this school and that would mean 1,183 lockers with locks are being use you would save a little more and may not seem that much but every single penny saved counts.

If there is not enough locks or if the thesis of this idea is not clear I still would like to thank you for taking the time to read this and hope my letter inspired you in some way.

From: A 6th grade student at gunston.

Dear dad.

I am writing to try and convince you to allow us to get more pets. There are 2 reasons I believe we should get more birds, 1, they release stress and increase your mental health, and 2, they give health benefits and decrease risk of certain diseases.

Pets are a popular way to connect with nature at home, and although most people don’t know, pets help you with multiple things, one of which being your mental health.

As said by Forbes advisor, “From companionship to emotional support, pets are a vital part of their owners’ lives. In fact, 97% of pet owners consider their pets a part of their family.” This indicates that most pet owners feel connected enough to their pets that they started to feel as though they were part of their family, plus, pets help with mental health.

A study showed that 27% of people who had pets had a positive impact on their mental health, while only 7% had a bad impact, 27% had no impact and 37% had mixed impact. It even improved mentally ill people’s mental health. This study showed pets generally have a positive impact on their owners.

Another reason to get more pets is they help decrease risk of certain diseases and boost your overall health. A study by a Heart attack and stroke symptom expert showed pets decrease risk of heart attacks and lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels. Another study by the Urban pet hospital showed having pets at home can help with depression, anxiety, loneliness, bipolar disorder, stress, mood and schizophrenia.

Now if you are saying: “I don’t want to take care of these little things.” you won’t have to do much, and I’ll help. It’s just giving them food and water, then removing eggs. Takes a few seconds. And if we all ACTUALLY do what we’re supposed to, it takes 10 max. ;)

That is why I believe we should get more birds. They are a healthy companion that can increase your overall health and mood. Plus, they are also adorable. :)

Have you ever wondered where your mom or any other female uses and has a lot of makeup? then you should read my letter.Sephora is a store that carries makeup and skincare in one store. It’s a really popular shop because they carry trendy products. Sephora is the best makeup and skincare store, because the products actually work and are not false advertisements, plus they always try to keep it organized.

People who shop at Sephora constantly talk about how good the products are and how they work, but do the products work? I have 2 quotes from 2 different people quoting how the products they tried worked. For reference I have this quote to back up my thesis. from one Sephora user. “I’ve been using this serum for 2 years, it has boosted my lashes and restored my brows.”I believe this quote relates to my reasons because the user is writing about how her brows grew back after damaging them at a young age due to waxing after 15 years with a serum.I also have this other quote that indicates that the summer Friday's lip gloss works. “The formula is the perfect combo of gloss and glow. After applying my lips were glossy and fully moisturized.” This other quote is a girl indicating that the summer Friday’s lip gloss works at keeping her lips glossy and hydrated. This is why I believe that the products at Sephora do actually work and do the jobs they were given.

If you were to walk into a Sephora you will get greeted by the employees and asked “do you need any help finding anything?” Then you can walk in most of the time when I go to Sephora. There's a worker walking around with a cart cleaning the testers and replacing them. Would you like to learn more then you are reading the right review. This is a piece of writing to back up my thesis. someone made about their experience in Sephora and how they feel the store is. ”Everytime I go to Sephora it's always clean. Or there’s an employee cleaning.” I believe this quote is related and backs up my reason because this person wrote about their experience at Sephora and how good they are at keeping the store clean.I believe this quote helps explain my reason and why you should believe me because it explains how Sephora is very strict at keeping the store clean to the point where they cover up the testers so the store doesn’t look messy. This is why I think you should be more considerate when you go to Sephora when using the testers and cleaning up after yourself if you make a mess.

This is why I think that Sephora is the best makeup store to shop at and the cleanest. because Sephora products are really good and work very well, also Sephora keeps it clean so your shopping experience is good and calming. So next time you need to buy a new makeup product you should choose Sephora instead of ulta.

Dear buildpccrate,

I am a 12 year old 6th grader looking to build a gaming pc. I have been playing games a lot in the past year and also doing a lot of heavy video editing. Recently I’ve also researched a lot about how computers work and the best place to buy one. I believe you guys may be in that place but I am short a lot of money. I feel like a lot of others are in my same position. On that note I think you should give younger buyers a discount because they will remember your company and it will create a defining experience for them.

Younger buyers will remember your company and trust you throughout adulthood. Eller.arizona.edu said that “When thinking about two cereals — one with a character from our own childhood and one after our time — we see the one from our own childhood healthier.” I also have my own experience with this aspect when my brother bought his last laptop from hp. He still trusts them as a company and thinks they are the better laptop maker. Another study also shows that children and teens often decide whether a company is good or bad within the first time they interact. This decides whether they tell their friends about that company or not and if they’re going to buy from them again.

Currently you guys have the chance to spark a career in any given child who buys a PC from you and builds it. Forbes.com has written an article on how children who get involved in tech early on like getting a PC become more interested and are more likely to have a career in tech. Building a PC for many kids has proved to be an experience that shaped childhood. And counter to the thoughts of many, it does not just influence video game playing. A survey has also shown that most parents agree with giving kids a PC. Pcmag.com surveyed 1000 parents and 41% said children ages 12-15 should be able to get a pc while only 20% said 16-18 is the right age.

On the contrary of these beliefs for many company’s this would lose the profit from a pc crate but that may not be the case. Even a discount of 150$ would make it much more affordable for teens buying a PC.

Now you know the statistics behind younger buyers remembering you. Also you’ve seen an example of this defining experience. Please consider giving younger buyers a discount with the thought of doing a good thing for future generations.

Emmett Smith
