As a child, my parents read to me "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and I really loved it. I wanted to convey a child-like spirit in my art and remind some people, as well as myself, of their childhood. After researching, I found that Eric Carle used tissue paper and painted over it in order to create his artwork, which became the perfect medium to create my artwork in as well. My drive was to create a nostalgic piece out of wire and tissue paper in order to connect the 2D to the 3D piece and properly do it justice. Every experience I had with it did not go well, but I did not just want to use what I always used. When I made the decision to utilize wire to construct the mobile, I knew what I was getting myself into. It took me a while to warm up to the wire and to get used to working with it. I played around with the medium to see what I could accomplish with it and was forced to learn from my mistakes. I wanted to innovate and grow in my artistic ability while learning something new. It was a struggle, but I managed to pull it off in the end. Since I had already committed to using wire, I knew I had to follow through with my attempts. I failed while creating the fruit. Not only was the wire not wanting to straighten out and connect together, but the cellophane did not want to create angles in order to shape it correctly. After several attempts, I decided to explore more 2-D options and stumbled across the circles from the book. This would provide more emphasis on the caterpillar and would be a solution to my obstacle. This ended up working really well and I am thankful for my failure. I then struggled to get the wire mobile to cooperate. The caterpillar was just too heavy to be on the end of it, so I had to adjust and put it in the center. After several trials and bent-up wire, I finally created a mobile that functioned.

After several conversations with classmates and multiple creative and functional failures, I had to revise and re-envision my project. Someone suggested creating a straight mobile, and once I pictured it I jumped right on it. I thought that that concept would be really neat and that it would turn out better than my original plan of making a circular mobile.
