I noticed that emotion was still a dominating way of knowing for both Mr. Martin and Coach Fludd, however, Coach Fludd also seemed to show some form of Reasoning. Mr. Martin admitted that he did not pick his bracket choices with his head, rather with his heart, and who he simple WANTED to win. He saw his own bias in choosing his bracket teams, however, he still went through with his decisions. This shows the true extent in which emotions as a way of knowing can determine our decisions. Coach Fludd said that he usually does the brackets because "it is fun". However, he also stated that he watches the games throughout the season, and then makes his bracket decisions based off of what he had determined throughout the games. Fludd has a combination of emotion and reasoning to make his decisions, but his decision-making could mainly be based on reasoning. It was his participation in the bracket that was emotionally based.

Fludd mostly used emotion and reason in his brackets. His emotions were a factor because he always liked to go with the underdog team. However, he also used his reasoning because he knew that the teams that he picked had very little chance of winning the tournament. Ms.fulmer based her bracket entirely on her perception and reason. She observed the teams success throughout the season and used the teams she thought would be have the best chance. By doing this, she is using her perception and reason to make the her decision.

I chose Coach Fludd and Ms. Pitt-Lawrence. When listening to Coach Fludd, I noticed that he chose teams that he liked and were likely to win. He used reasoning and emotion when picking. Ms. Pitt-Lawrence used emotion and reasoning as well. Since she knew one of the guys on Louisville's team, she chose them to win. For other parts of her bracket, she used her prior knowledge of teams that were number ones, and put them up against her winner. Both Coach Fludd and Ms. Pitt-Lawrence basically used their knowledge of the teams performance to pick their winner.

It seemed that both Mr.Martin and Ms.Pitt-Lawrence picked the team to win it overall based on emotion rather than reason. Ms. PItt chose Louisville because a player on the team was from her old high school and Mr.Martin chose his favorite team. In the othe aspects of the bracket Ms.Pitt used her reason and perception because she based her choices off the ability of the teams. Mr.Martin on the other hand used emotion. He states he used his heart over his brain in Thea brackets. From my own experience doing the bracket last year with Ms.Bors it is clear that the outcomes are the games are truly predictable and those less knowledgeable about basketball are more likely to win it seems.

Coach Fludd used his own personal preference when choosing who would win the tournament. From watching games from previous seasons he decided that his favorite team was Duke and that they would win. In his cases he used a History area of knowledge to make his picks and the WOK of perception to make his final brackets.

Ms. Pitt-Lawerence based her final desicion of Louisville from a personal connection as well. She used her personal experience of having a player on the team come from Nuer high school to make her choice. She also used the history area of knowledge when she said she choose teams that were mainly 1s or have played well in previous seasons. She choose Louisville to win the tournament because of her general connection to one of the players and her want to support one of her former high school peers.

I listened to Mr, Martin and Coach Price recording. Mr. Martin picks based on his heart, a more emotional approach. Mr. Martin picks the schools he is dedicated to, or loves/likes. There is no logical processing behind it. Coach Price on the other hand tends toward reason. He picks teams based on watching them and what the experts say. He usually picks higher seeds because they are expected to win. The tournament is set in a way that all of these doesn't matter, whether you pick based on emotion or reason, you would MOST LIKELY BE WRONG. That why most bracket winners aren't people who watch basketball.

I chose Mr. Martin and Ms. Fulmer . I noticed Mr. Martin was much more trusting of his emotions whereas Ms. Fulmer was more logical, completely the opposite of gender stereotypes. However I believe it was Mr. martin's overconfidence that led him to rely on his emotions. Mrs. Fulmer attempted to be more detailed about her brackets and looked at data to decide how she'd pick her teams.

First off, Mr. Martin stated that he operates on emotion when choosing teams for his bracket. He chooses teams with his heart and roots for teams like Duke and Notre Dame in hopes that they might win in the corresponding year. Coach Fludd was more strategic with his bracket. He makes 10 different brackets, each bracket showing different outcomes of the game. That way, he has chances of winning his bracket would increase. He said he chose teams like Duke and Syracuse and that was due to his perception of the teams and their skill level.

Emotion seemed to play a big role in Mr. Martin's pick. He said that he picks more with his heart. While ms . Fulmer used reason in determining her pick. I believed she checked the records of the teams and watched how they played and used that as the basis of her pick.

I noticed that mr. Martin said that when he does the brackets he uses his heart instead of his brain. So emotion seems to play a role in the way one picks the brackets. Be basically said that he picks the teams based on popularity and not on skill. Coach fluid does the bracket every year. When he does the bracket he picks based on what he believes has the advantage in some circumstances. Sometimes he looks at the games a chooses the underdog. He does it for the fun to see how far his predictions will go. He actually follows the games during the years and previously to help influence his decision Bon who will when the tournament.

It seems that Mr. Martin used more of emotional and experience to determine how he chose his bracket. Ms. Pitt Laurence seemed to also choose from personal emotions and bias. This allows me to think that people often choose without thinking. For instance I chose without thinking and just selected the university names a preferred. This connects to Josh's connection to AP Psychology about the difference between males and women. Sometimes people are similar, males can also over think situations and or determine something from emotional connections. I believe that the brackets play a big role in showing the difference between genders but also determining how they overlap. We can't determine how a person thinks no matter what gender they are, because males and females could both decide in life with emotional connections and or thinking with their brain.

Coach Flud picked his games by his emotion. He didn't really go about it in a strategic way but more of his favorite team. He said he had Duke winning or either going far and then come to find out Duke is his favorite team. So his emotion toward and for Duke played a role in his decision. For Ms. Pitt she used more of reasoning. She had a specific plan in how to choose her teams. She made reference to the teams rankings, shooting ability, PF, PG, and defense. After looking at these important statistics she made a decision that to her made since. Also, she used her emotion when she talks on how a old high school friend plays for Louisville so she really wanted them to win so that had a huge affect on her choosing Louisville to win it all.

Mrs Pitt-lawrence- she usually follows the games but she used a process of elimination and judged upon the teams she knew would do good. Emotion also played a role on her pick because on one of the teams she knew someone who played in her high school so she picked that team as a contender hoping for them to win based on the person she knew.

Coach Flud- he's been filling out brackets over ten years and even though he's never won, it gives him a better perspective into choosing who might win. He watches the games too so some of his decisions are based on reasoning. Emotion plays a role too because he has a favorite team duke so he tries to rank them high but this year based on his reasoning on how other teams were playing, he didn't.

Perception also plays a role especially with the process of elimination and by the staffs own judgment of which teams are the better teams

For Coach Fludd he uses perception because the team he selects he know most often won't make it ,and at least 10 each year.Also emotion played a role because his favorite team is Duke, and he state he alway rooting for them.

For Mrs.Pitt-Lawrence role picks were based on reasoning due her watching the school during the regular season,and most of them were number one.Also emotion play a role because her reason for picking Louisville was because she went to high with one of the players.

Mr.Martin was talking about he picks with his heart instead of his head, so he knows Duke might not go all the way but because he loves them he makes them go all the way on his brackets. But his wife who does not watch any basketball filled out a bracket and she won, so from Mr.Martin perception the brackets are by luck. With Coach Fludd he follows the game so he can choose the teams that look like they have a better chance so he uses his head instead of his heart.

Ms. Fuller chose her brackets through looking at the season records of the teams. She also factored in how the teams played like how often they were strong and how often they were not so strong. I thought that was interesting because she factorerd in the ability for teams to allow upsets in the tournament.

Mr.Martin chose his bracket off of Emotion. He basically chosen what team seemed like they had a lot of heart to play together. I would say that he went with his best gut feeling more so than reasoning. The team that he loves will most likely be his best pick.

Coach Price used more Reason with his because of the methods he used. He said the first round he goes with the better and experience teams then second round he tries to look at the upsets that could happen.

I listened to Coach Fludd and Ms. Pitt-Lawrence. These two seemed to have one thing in common when choosing their brackets, which is going for their favorites. They are both strategic but in different ways. Coach Fludd has less of a strategy because he is more focused on rooting for his favorite teams and the teams who are the best teams in his perception. Ms. Pitt-Lawrence was more strategic in not just rooting for her favorite team to win, but using process of elimination based on past and most recent statistics of each team. When doing these brackets, it is mainly based off of perception, in addition to reason for those who strategize as Ms. Pitt-Lawrence does, and emotion, for those who are completely supporting and believing in their favorite team to go all the way and win the NCAA championship.

I listened to Coach Price. It seems that he used his experiences with the teams to guide his decisions with the brackets. He said he was accustomed to seeing the teams play which means his percdption may be guided towards certain teams based on their past performance. Also he relied on some things he has heard from others about those teams; perceptions of others guided his decision as well.

I also listened to Ms.Pitt-Lawrence and it seems as though she utilized some logic in her decision making process. She used the ratings for the teams in order to determine who would proceed to the finals. From then on she did some research on the teams which also guided her choosings; she picked the number one teams to go to the finals. In addition she used her feelings, or preferences towards a team in order to determine who should win, which is biased because she chose the winner based on her affiliation with that team.

I listened to how Mr. Martin chose his NCAA bracket. He says that he "picks the winners by heart", which probably means that emotions played a key role in determining how he set his bracket up. He also says that he was surprised at how many upsets (lesser-known schools defeating famous schools) there were this year, again indicating that emotions influenced how he chose his bracket winners.

I also listened to how Ms. Pitt chose her bracket. She used a "process of elimination", looking at strong teams on a winning streak and then selecting those teams to be bracket winners of the tournament. It seems that reason played a large part in how she chose who would win March Madness.

I choose to listen to Coach Price's technique on picking his bracket winners. He seemed to use his knowledge as a basketball coach and his interest in college basketball playing style. He uses his WOK of perception and emotion, he includes the possiblity of "upsets" in a teams game. He is more reasonable with is choices unlike Mr. Martin, who chooses favoritism over logical reasoning.

I chose coach fludd and Mr. Martin. He said that he did his bracket based on his heart and not his head. This contrasts the belief that women are over emotional and that men don't use their emotions as much as we do.

The upsets are teams that weren't expected to go far. I think it's funny how they're called upsets and they can throw off someones entire bracket. Underdogs should never be underestimated because thats how people fail.

I chose mr.martin and coach price.

Martin seemed to not care as much about the bracket like coach price did. This was shown by the fact that Martin choices were based on his "heart" rather than the actual facts that were provided by stats or being previous winners.

Coach price on the other hand had a plan when he was picking his matches. He knew who the previous people who won were and acknowledged the possibility of under dogs winning

Coach price had a more strategic approach to the brackets. He compared his thoughts about teams to others to come up with the teams he thought would win. He also seemed to factor in for more upsets than Ms. Fulmer. He tried to figure out who would be most likely to cause an upset by thinking about small power house teams like Gonzaga

In general, I noticed that many of the PHS staff chose teams based on team performances, player performances, and also relied on expert opinion. I am not sure what expert opinion is in this case. Is it someone who watches faithfully? Is it someone who regularly appears on media shows like Pardon the Interruption or Steven A. Smith who is a sports commentator? What do the experts rely on? Intuition, knowledge of the game…etc. I also noticed that the staff made emotional picks based on team favorites. These allegiances were made based on hometowns and long time favorites. Reason operated to some degree in the picking as they were looking at how the team was seeded prior to the start of the sweet 16.

I pick coach price because he was the one that analyzed the playoffs the most. He said he picks the team with the highest seat based off of their performance in first and second round. Then, he standby to watch all games to see upsets of his choices. Also to see results. So he used perception and reason in this case. Also, he based his decisions on averages of score, hence used statistics of the games.

One thing I realized is that both teachers used a strategy but the way they carried it out was different. I was surprised once mr Martin said that he uses his emotions rather than his head. I listened to Coach Price and Mrs. Pitt-Lawrence. I purposely picked these two because of their difference in gender and the way they view the sport. Coach Price is a male and not only does he enjoy the sport of basketball he has played it in the past and currently coaches pupils how to play and craft their talent. While Mrs.Pitt is a female and she simply enjoys watching the sport for entertainment and wouldn't mind playing in a game or two. When Coach Price was explaining how he did his brackets many of his statements were logically justified. He leaned towards reason when breaking done his process. In the first round he normally picks the higher ranking teams because he has noticed that over the years the "power house" teams pass through the first round. But when he gets to the second round he accommodates "upsets" and rely on the words of other basketball experts and review how these 2nd round teams have perform this season (watching their strengths and weaknesses). Here perception and language are more so relied on because he understands that the 2nd round can be unpredictable their for he needs the words of others and his view of the team to choose the 2nd round. Mrs.Pitt pretty much does the same thing Coach Price does for the first round, and then continues that method to the 2nd round with input of others and the performance the teams throughout the season. The surprisingly to pick the winner she relied on emotion because she has a personal tie to one of the players on the winning team that she picked.
