·       Firstly, I report myself to the guardhouse to get our new hire badge. Company admin briefing about company background then explains to us about the daily task. For example, the procedure of daily check in.

Orientation

·       Then, she leads us on an office tour and introduces every location and department to us.

·       She hosts the orientation to let us know about company’s benefits and the rules during working hours.

·       She also explains the uses of intranet for our company.

·       According to the company policy, everyone will have their own laptop for working,

·       I collect my laptop from IT department and download the VPN.

Job scope explanation

·       Supervisor explains the four groups in Finance team which are Fixed Assets team, Account Payables team, Account Receivables team and General Ledger team.

·       Then, she roughly explains the job scope for Fixed Assets team which is the team that I get in.

·       Supervisor gives me the training materials of using the SAP accounting software.

·       It contains 8 parts which are IO Creation, Asset Creation, Asset Capitalisation, Asset Scrap, Asset Sales, Asset Impairment, Depreciation Posting Run, Periodic Asset Posting.

·       Supervisor provides a guideline on how to use the software.

·       Supervisor gives me the website of company financial policy to let me read through and understand the workflow.

·       For example, Fixed Asset Additional, Transfer, Disposal, Impairment, Acceleration Depreciation & Physical Count.

·       The most important criteria in calculating fixed assets are depreciation and net book value.

·       The documents for Fixed Assets team only have few kinds which only work for fixed asset computation, acquisition, transfer, disposal, and impairment.

·       The examples of Buy-Off Form for asset acquisition, Fixed Asset Transfer/ Divestment Form, Fixed Assets Registration Form, Impaired Fixed Asset Reactivation Form and others are presented in the appendix of company policy.

·       This is a compulsory assignment given by human resource department for all new workers to be done.

·       It consists of 4 parts which are global code of ethics certificate, data privacy certificate, trade compliance certificate and information security awareness certificate.

·       All of the assignments are given quiz in order to get the certificate to prove the participation.

·       This training provides a foundational understanding of what is personal data, our obligations when we process it and importance to protect it.

·       We will also take a look at some country-specific data privacy laws.

·       A fixed asset registration form is a document used by organizations to record and manage their fixed assets.

·       The information contains asset details, acquisition details, location and asset owner, depreciation information.

·       Senior teaches me how to prepare FARF and finds the information from an Excel file that sent by local finance team.

·       Attended Macro class that manager registers for us to improve our efficiency of using Excel file.

·       Macro is a function in Excel file that can record or write the coding and save it so that it can be use to process the data automatically in the future.

·       Prepare FARF by following the steps taught by senior.

Careless

·       During key in the data, the must is to be prudent, this is because once a little careless, the information in the form will be wrong, especially for depreciation information.

·       Senior reviews the FARF that prepared by me and points out the mistakes that I made.

·       Senior teaches how to check the information by using formula in Excel.

·       Senior teaches how to draft an email before sending to receivers.

·       Greetings and thanking are important in an email.

·       The key component of an email is the content, it must be a very clear and simplified information for receiver.

·       The subject for the email must be short and clear for the receiver to see as well because it is the first thing that the receiver will look into and decide their priority.

·       The information of asset will get from the Asset Master List to put into email for owner’s reference purpose.

·       After the FARF drafting, senior reviews all my drafting and allows me to send all the emails to the asset owners.

·       Then, the asset owners need to approve all the forms as a record in the company for us finance team to start the depreciation for those assets.

·       During this class, Mr Paul who is the teacher shows us how the Macro works in Excel.

·       Then he teaches us the basic of Macro which is Record Macro button to start record the steps that we make in the Excel file.

·       Last before ending the class, he gives us assignment to be done and submit before next class.

·       Consists of Introduction to Automotive Core Tools, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Introduction to Statistical Process Control and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).

·       This is an assessment given by HR to be done for me before end of May in my company website.

·       I learn the meaning of "core tools" and get understanding of APQP, FMEA, control plan, MSA, SPC and PPAP, and how they link together.

Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) Certificate

·       Colleague from local finance team sends me an email to request for transfer of asset from a cost centre to another cost centre.

·       FATDF is a form called Fixed Asset Transfer/ Divestment Form which is a record for the asset as a proof for the further transaction.

·       My senior teaches me how to prepare FATDF for the asset and the information given in Powerpoint that prepared by local finance team.

·       Senior teaches how to create new asset number in SAP as a record to start depreciation when the FARF got approved by the asset owner.

·       The information such as location, depreciation method, asset number, asset owner, asset name are all included in the FARF to be record in SAP as well.

·       After the asset got created, the SAP will automatically generate an asset number for the asset and start depreciation.

·       This is another small course provided in my company website for us to participate.

·       Understanding how money works within a business is key to managing the business efficiently and effectively.

·       This course, part of the Balance Sheet series, examines the sources and uses of funds of a business and how a simple model help me understand how operating profit is achieved.

·       Most businesses need long-term finance and have a mixture of sources of funding to support operations.

·       Loan capital, share capital, and retained profits each have their own implications and uses.

·       These uses of funds can be classified as fixed assets and working capital and also play a part in understanding the overall financial model of a business.

·       In this program, we break down benchmarking, ratios, comparisons, and trends so that they're easy to understand.

·       We discuss what each of these terms mean, how they work together on a balance sheet, and what they mean to the financial health of company.

·       The local finance team sends new excel file which includes the new assets in this month to prepare the FARF for the new assets.

·       There is some child assets included in this file also.

·       Child assets is the sub part of the parent asset to make sure the parent asset can be used.

·       In all the FARF that prepared, the cost centre might have new code as the company is big and separate in different location.

·       The local finance team send me an update of cost centre list because there are some new cost centre codes.

·       This is important for the record purpose of asset because it shows the location of the asset and the calculation of cost will be based on that as well.

·       During this class, we discussed about the Record Macro assignment.

·       The Record Macro can be change by VBA which is the coding in Excel.

·       Mr Paul explains how to write a simple code with the simple object in Excel which is Cell and Count.

Had lunch with my seniors and supervisor

·       This time, the preparation of FARF for this month runs smoothly.

·       There is another small change on this which is the depreciation method code is different for certain assets.

·       Other than that, the FARF is complete without mistakes as my senior reviews.

·       I make mistake on FARF email because I forgot to attach the pdf file which is the FARF form to the owner to approve.

·       My senior sees that because I cc her into the email and she reminds me to recall and resend the email to the owner.

·       This mistake is avoidable because I should have check before sending out to the owners.

·       I receive emails from engineers that request for invoice of some assets because they want to transfer their assets to another cost centre.

·       My senior teaches me how to look for invoice in SAP or shared drives.

·       My senior also tells me the purpose of them looking for invoice and it is not only transfer of asset that needs invoice, disposal of asset will also need it as well.

·       The invoice in the SAP accounting software is quite complicated to find because it has its own T-code.

·       In compare with this, the invoice in shared drives is much easier as it is compiles in file and separated by years and months.

·       For certain year, the invoices are not prepared in shared drives because the management decides not to put it into shared drives.

·       Since onwards, we need to look for invoice from SAP accounting software.

·       This day is a very special day as our company calls a townhall meeting for all the employees to attend.

·       This meeting talks about the company situation and the company sold off a part of the business to new owner.

·       These changes might affect some workers in other country but no impact in Malaysia local team.

·       Our manager then call another meeting within finance team to explain our company situation.

·       Some engineers are busy on their daily activities, so my senior requests me to follow up the approval for FARF.

·       My seniors ask me to resend another email for them as a reminder for the approval.

·       For some assets that transfer from a location to another different location, their location needs to be updated.

·       My senior informs me the T-Code to use in SAP and teaches me the step to change the location for those assets.

·       The list of the assets to be updated is sent by local finance team to us.

·       Because of the next day is Wesak day, it is a off day, so Mr Paul moves the class to 21 May.

·       During this Macro class, Mr Paul teaches us what are the different objects to be write in the coding for VBA such as application, range, and others.

·       It is very interesting that Macro can work with different functions and formulas such as sum, divide and so on.

·       Finance is a critical part of any business plan.

·       In particular, any plan must support sustainable cash flow.

·       An organization, even if unprofitable, can keep going for a long time, provided it can generate enough cash to meet its bills as they are due.

·       Understanding key financial reports as well as projecting cash flow are important parts of creating a sustainable plan.

·       In this course, part of the Business Planning Series, I learn about cash flow forecasts, profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and how to understand sources and uses of funds as part of a financial model for business planning.

·       It's important to understand which types of budget will work best for your purposes.

·       This course takes a look at the different types of budgets that are used depending on the strategy.

·       We go over the most common types of business budgets: Zero-based, Top-Down, Bottom-Up, Value Proposition, and Incremental.

·       By the end of it, we can design a distinctive experience that will differentiate our brand.

·       It is a little bit different compared to create number for parent asset.

·       The T-code used in here for SAP is AS03 while create number for parent asset is AS02.

·       The information will be almost same with the parent asset as it is a part of the parent asset.

·       But some of it might be different because it might be another purpose, different depreciation method as it might not be the same as parent asset.

·       My senior teaches me to use Robot to change the location for asset by just prepare an Excel file.

·       For those assets that need to be changed, the information is put into the Excel file following the format.

·       With this, we transfer the Excel file into the Robot laptop and run it with the software.

·       The SAP accounting software will require me to type in my accounts and it will automatically run after.

·       With every business comes the cost of running it.

·       If we have too many expenses, even if we are bringing in revenue, we won't end up with a net profit.

·       That's why evaluating costs is so vital to the success of our company.

·       In this program, we discuss the comprehensive information we'll need to gather.

·       We go over how to evaluate that data to determine which costs are essential and which ones need to be reduced or eliminated.

·       We also go over some helpful strategies to reduce our costs.

·       Update job status planning of May to senior whether the case completed or pending.

·       Anyone looking to pour money into a company is looking for a good return on their investment.

·       In this program, we go over three metrics a company can focus on to attract investors: liquidity, growth, and return on assets.

·       We take a look at what each of these metrics mean and what we can do to positively impact those numbers to help our business become a more desirable investment.

·       The new FARF information for June is given by the local finance team for the preparation of FARF.

·       For this time, all the information is prepared clearly in the Excel file given.

·       The currency must be careful because the currency given are USD and MYR but the currency we use in FARF is USD.

·       The cost centre information update affects the FARF because it is needed in this form.

·       This form requires the cost centre code and the location to fill in that the asset located before send to the asset owner for approval.

·       The local finance team send this file to us for us to prepare the FARF.

·       The FARF for this month is a lot because of the acquisition of assets are a lot in different location.

·       During the FARF preparation, the currency used is USD but not MYR because there are a lot of countries Lumileds gets involved into.

·       To standardise all the information, we use USD as a standard currency for all the assets.

·       Make sure all checking done such as location, asset number, price, especially the depreciation method.

·       This is to prevent any careless mistake to be done and caused further consequences.

·       The FARF is prepared to send out after reviewed by senior.

·       I draft the email and prepare the information needed from Asset Master List for the asset owner to refer.

·       After all these done, the emails are ready to send out and wait for approval from asset owner.

·       Mr Paul teaches us about how to write the formula into the code and how to cross check whether it works or not.

·       By using the F8 key, we can see the step moving one by one until the end of sub.

·       So, with this, the Macro can be checked if there is any mistake bring to the result.

·       This course explains the role and classifications of an asset and how to identify and record them on a balance sheet.

·       All the FARF that got approved on April, May and June are updated and uploaded into the shared drives as a record.

·       For those FARF that are not approved yet, I send another email as a reminder for the owner in case they forgot.

·       As a precaution, I also leave them a message in Microsoft Teams.

·       Some asset owners are not working in Lumileds anymore, so their assets will be transfer to a new asset owner to be taken care.

·       Hence, the local finance team send me an Excel file to update those asset owners in SAP accounting software.

·       Senior assigns new task for me which is get approval for FARF that are before my employment.

·       Senior explains that some asset owners might be not here anymore, so I have to look for local finance team to check whether who will be assign as the new asset owner for certain assets.

·       The local finance team wants to dispose some unused assets.

·       Therefore, they need those asset invoices to proceed their job on the disposal.

·       My senior pass this task to me as I already knew how to look for invoice.

·       Six Sigma: Six Sigma Industry Applications is an e-learning course that explores how these methods apply to a broad range of industries.

·       Six Sigma was originally developed in the manufacturing industry, and there are certainly a lot of applications for its methodologies there.

·       Six Sigma can also be applied to other industries as well, and that's what we'll explore in this program.

·       This course talk about how these methods and tools can improve quality control, not only in manufacturing, but in finance and accounting as well as in healthcare.

·       The local finance team send the Excel file which includes the FARF information for the preparation of FARF in July.

·       The child assets and parent assets are all included in this file.

·       The local finance team send this file to us for us to prepare the FARF.

·       With this cost centre update, we can get the latest information whether where the new asset will be place at.

·       The FARF preparation for this month is very smooth as there is less acquisition of asset.

·       To prepare the FARF, we use the formula vlookup in Excel to help us paste the data to the form.

·       Verify everything, including location, asset number, price, and the depreciation method.

·       This will stop any thoughtless error from being made and leading to unintended effects.

·       The senior has examined the FARF and it is ready to be sent out.

·       I prepare the information from the Asset Master List that is required for the asset owner to refer to while drafting the email.

·       After completing all of these, the emails are prepared for distribution and are awaiting asset owner approval.

·       This class discusses about the checking of Macro by using true or false function.

·       When the Macro works, the VBA should show true.

·       In the other way, if the Macro is not working, the VBA will show false.

·       In today‘s business world, the controller is no longer expected to spend most of their time resolving accounting issues.

·       They need to have an array of soft and technical skills in order to remain effective and succeed.

·       This lesson will help me describe the role of the Controller and what it takes to be successful in that role.

·       Discover the various revenue ratios that I can use for my business and how to perform these simple yet informative calculations.

·       In this course, I learn the value of revenue ratios, how to calculate them, and how to use them in my ratio analysis to gain insight into a company or develop strategies to improve my productivity.

·       By moving and rearranging all the data into another Excel file which suits the robot, the robot can run smoothly without any problem.

·       After the data gets updated, the robot will automatically send an email for us as an update for the progress.

·       My senior and I crosschecked the data by exporting the report from the SAP.

·       This is the last class for Macro training class.

·       Mr Paul asks us to share about the learning progress and the knowledge among each other.

·       Lastly, Mr Paul congrats us for attending and finishing this class and hopes that Macro can help us in our future task or job.

·       My senior and I are given task to clean up the racks and move then arrange the documents neatly into another room.

·       This is because the rack is going to be disposed according to the management team.

·       This course explains very detail about all the topics above including NPV, EVA, payback period analysis and others.

·       Update the job status to senior in order for the guidance purpose of the job arrangement and update the progression of each case.
