So this book fit right into my category. It was a typical high school drama, with a bit of a spin. The best part about this book, was that it wasn't all just words from the book. It included letters and notes from the How to be Polar Book, which made it so much more interesting. Usually sequels are not as good as the first, but this book was so good and juicy with the details. It combined the genres realistic fiction, fantasy, and a bit of mystery to create such a wonderful book. You read about how the main character's brother, and dad are on different sides for the war, and their family's problems going through this. This book really suprised me. I really thought this book would be boring. But with the fiction plot tying into it, it really makes the story so muich more interesting. First it seems like an honor to get selected, but it is? This book has introduced me to reading more survival and dystopian novels. It is very detailed, and let's the reader follow along with the main character the whole way. Still following Cass and Max-Ernest on their adventure, we see that Cass's mother has been kidnapped, and they have to get her back from the Midnight Sun by giving them a special tool. The book had a very interesting and different plot. I really like the style of the writer, and how he switches from the story to himself talking.
