Old Die Machines:

When I was doing my intern, there was a broken die, and they needed to refurbish it. However, the die is very old (from 1980s) and during that time, there was no 3D model. Only 2D drawings. To make it easier to fix, 3D model would be much more efficient. So, they did reverse engineer to obtain 3D model of the die by using optical camera. So, I would say that reverse engineer on old die machines would be helpful for future development and repairs.

- scanner in office/ public transport
https://www.google.com/search?q=mrt+coin+scanner&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwjGqo_Uqvr6AhVWktgFHc6ZDSUQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=mrt+coin+scanner&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQAzoFCAAQgAQ6BggAEAgQHjoGCAAQBxAeUKYOWO4RYJkTaABwAHgAgAEwiAGEApIBATaYAQCgAQGqAQtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ8ABAQ&sclient=img&ei=10lXY4bjO9ak4t4PzrO2qAI&bih=969&biw=1920&rlz=1C1GCEU_enMY995MY995#imgrc=ml8k_EJ_j_ByLM
- to make it more efficient like the RFID and SmartTag because there is always congestion in mrt/lrt to scan the touch and go.
- could lead to smoother and faster process for customers

possible ideas:

- car
- internal combustion engine
- tyre
- laptop

Usually their material is not safe for the phone or easily broken. There are many ways of improving them. The material can be made of carbon fiber for better protection. It can be designed to be lighter than normal casing. Normal phone casings do not have wirless charging access, so the casing can have built in wireless charging for convenience. A protective layer can be added that absorbs shock when the phone hits on impact

Product: ERGONOMIC GAMING MOUSE
Description:

A mouse can be said as an essential hardware component for every laptop/PC users regardless who uses it. However, a traditional mouse seems not very utilize and not very following the the extra needs in current generation. A basic mouse usually have bulky design, inaccurate pointer, lagging, two clicks button, a middle roller, etc.

Hence, we from Group 8 discussed to innovate the current existence of gaming mouse by performing reverse engineering to enhance the mouse functionalities and open a whole new level of mouse application in the marketplace.

Reason:
1. Wide innovation possiblities
2. The demand for better gaming mouses are rising
3. Reduces risk of mouse arm syndrom.

Innovation ideas:
1. Waterproof/ sweatproof
2. Shock resistance
3. Haptic feedback vibration and adaptive triggers
4. Extension (add on extra buttons)

All of the reasons we included are the purpose of doing reverse engineering to the Ergonomic Gaming Mouse and also we included the ideas that we think useful and able to be focus or added into next generation of gaming mouse to escalate to it's full potential.

Product: Bicycle+Scooter

A bicycle is an exciting design to discover as we can visually see how it mechanically works. When the bicycle is reversed, we can discover that the design of a bicycle can be simplified and minimized for easy-carry. An easy-carry bicycle would be very beneficial for students as it will minimize space and cost. The design of the scooter, for example, can be modified into the body of the bicycle. We also want to preserve the bulk tire as it will increase its durability for heavy use due to road roughness. The bicycle will be a convenient value for them because they don't have to use the e-hailing services to move to places within the UM campus. An electric integrated bicycle-scooter would be an extra value for the design to be benefited as the students could preserve their energy.

IEMs are devices used by musicians, audio engineers and audiophiles to listen to music or to hear a personal mix of vocals and stage instrumentation for live performance or recording studio mixing. In early 2000, the pricing for IEM is quite expensive so it's not a common item. but the technology for IEM is rapidly expending in 2020 and the pricing can go as low as RM100. The problem with cheap IEM is that when it is having a broken part with the earpiece, its cannot be repaired and needs to buy a new one.

With reverse engineering, we can make the broken earpiece without need to by a new one. This is because the shape of an IEM is unique in order to be fit comfortably to the user's ear therefore it is hard to be recreate. Furthermore, by using reverse engineering, we can improve the ergonomics of IEM thus reducing more the pricing for it.
