I chose a very challenging text above grade level for my gifted VAC group during DI. It is more complex literature with stories about greek gods. (Greek Mythology)

Hey! I love what you guys are doing for your gifted kiddos. Remember that these can be used for any students who are mastering standards. :) I have access to something on SLDS for math enrichment. I am curious if you guys have it as well. When you sign in to SLDS, click GA Connects Preview, then click Inspire, then click My Content Collections (it is the large icon at the top that looks like a stack of cubes... I believe it is the 3rd or 4th large icon on the top). There are items for all the math units for all the grade levels. Let me know if you don't have access to them, and I can get them for you.

My gifted students have been using their reading bookmarks to elaborate on your Shared Reading. I give them the choice between a few bookmarks, and they discuss them with each other and give their answers in Canvas in place of doing the discussion questions whole group at the end of our lesson.

My gifted students are using the bookmarks to discuss the shared reading stories; they will begin logging those answers in Canvas this week.

Students are doing an excellent job working on independent discussion in shared reading.

Math NBI

My advanced NBI group (most of my Venture students) have been working with basketball statistics to add and subtract 2–4 digit numbers. They're enjoying learning basketball while doing math.

My gifted students are working on multi-digit multiplication and division problems. Long division to help stay organized.

My gifted students are working on developing a readers theater script based on the current shared reading text. This incorporates creating dialogue and working collaboratively while encouraging creativity. They will choose a chapter or scene and create an alternate version. Each student will agree on a different role in the reader's theater: Leader, Dialogue coordinator, Character Developer, & Setting. Each role will have its own responsibilities given by the teacher.

I am using Math By the Book lessons to extend their understanding of math concepts.

These lessons more project based that makes connections to a picture book and then students solve real world problems such as creating a raft, fraction towns, and creating houses (all involving math concepts) that connect to literature and book that was read.

Has anyone had a chance to try out the math problems from Inspire, Adobe Express, or any of the activities I send out last Tuesday? Just wondering if anyone found anything they liked? :) I also found out that the Adobe Express I showed you to enhance descriptive writing is now available on Clever!
