I would thank my friends, the french revolution, they inspired my to speak out about your treatment towards me. With all the racist treatment you give me, do you really think I would stay silent? Saint- Domingue (Hati) is one of the richest colonies thanks to our hard work, as we produce 40% of the worlds sugar and about half of the worlds coffee. With this income that we produce, it is only fair and just to have equal rights. We are working here at your expense, and your profit, while you sit and get rich and plump from the profits. This is a two way relationship but I am the only one working day and night, breaking my back for you (literally - we had lots of casualties and injuries), while you contribute no help.

Hence we take matters in our own hands as the "colonial inequalities and the ramped exploitation" primed the Caribbean for a revolution. The whites, consisted of two classes - grand blanks (rich whites) and petits blanc (poor whites). Both classes interpreted the French Revolution in different ways. The Grand Blancs saw this as a suggested greater autonomy for the colon and fewer economic restrictions on trade, while the Petits Blancs sought equality of citizenship for all whites. The inter conflicts of the whites (poor and rich) allowed those of us that are slaves to take advantage of this weakness and form a revolution around it by burning plantations to the ground and inspiring chaos.

The constant slave Rebellions inspired more chaos as factions of People (white, slaves, and free people of color) battled each other. More chaos broke out and many took sides. The large number of slaves revolting allowed us to defend ourselves from the French with easy due to the sheer number of people. In the 1790's the power gravitated to the slaves due to the former slave Toussaint Louverture who overcame internal resistance and outmaneuvered the foreign power and defeated an attempt by Napoleon to reestablish French control. The chaos inspired even more chaos making it inevitable for this split.

Independence means no more forced labor. No more thousands of people dying. No more unfair treatment against us. We are humans, you can not look down at us, like we are property, just because of the color of our skin. Independence is possible for us. With all the slave revolts going on, as well as the fights between the whites, we are able to use this chaos as our entrance to independence. Chaos on more chaos. WHEN we get our independence, there will be no slavery, we will run ourselves, be our own nation. Ruled only by non-whites, former captives and slaves. I am not joking around, you can not keep playing with out lives as if we have no feelings. I'm sorry, but we are over. You do not have any of our interests at heart, and I know we, who you look at as the dirt at the bottom of your shoe, can create a whole new nation which we will be free from your tyranny.

You may not be with me anymore but I can see how you are still affected by me. Your... nation... is influenced by me, your culture and society is so similar.
I will agree, you have made your mark, my heartbreak had made me not willing to try again. I don't maintain many major colonies in the new world anymore, they remind me too much of you. But, because of you, I did go through with the Louisiana Purchase, I don't need you anymore, I had never need you. Have fun with your life, I never really cared about you, you needed me more than I have ever needed you.

~Napoleon of France
