Differentiation:

•  The amount of evidence the student is being asked to pick out to support their claims could be increased or decreased depending on the needs of the students.
•  Modify the assessment
• The creation of the Venn diagram could be online or on paper; explanations could be written or typed.

I am relatively confident that students will understand the lesson the first time it is taught. If not, I could move to another way of teaching the lesson. 

Alternative ways to teach the lesson.

• Students could become the characters. They would be learning through play. Students would become their assigned characters and talk about themselves and another character, describing whether or not they would be friends based on their similarities and differences.
