Got to be honest one from my MLIS stands out. We just had one group member who fit almost all the criteria of a frustrating peer. Different work ethic, they didn't seem to understand the goal, they always seemed like they were just left of everyone else. It took someone stopping, delegating their own tasks to start being the project manager. Having this one role was a difficult decision, but got us through this particular project.

3.1 On Leadership

A few things popped out when I was doing my research, namely a lot of lists of things to be or do to be better.
A few stuck out to me and I'm going to save them here. The lists seemed to be very shallow. I know I take a very conscious effort not to be like the supervisors I didn't like in previous positions, but it made me think that it is too self-centered. Someone on my staff may need that type of leader and the needs of the team are not static.

I find activities like this profoundly uncomfortable.
I don't like self-reflection, because often I come out looking closely and discovering that I might not be going in the direction I thought I was, and that is scary.
However, I did find this tool is a good tool for getting me there. I had no problem saying that I really don't have these certain skills, it's one reason I entered the APLL program to work and develop them. I know I have a hard time seeing and communicating the vision and navigating the municipal landscape. Those were not surprises. It showed where I can improve in creating a culture of learning which I appreciated too.
