The 5th grade team is planning Lon utilizing the Lego robotics idea from the Mobile Maker Space. We have used Lego robotics for years and fifth graders are very enthusiastic about it.
We may have some hesitation about using the Osmo robot (the circular one that can move quickly around the room) due to student behavioral challenges this year, but we still thought it was pretty fascinating.
I would be enticed to use the Legos in my classroom as I have already taught using Legos so it would feel natural to me.

It was great to get a mini lesson on these activities/devices. I would definitely be interested in learning more and getting some time to experiment. Facilitating these activities in a younger classroom (such as K) would involve a lot of planning and support, but could be a great activity for our fifth-grade buddy time (if the fifth-graders were familiar and comfortable with the materials).

We plan to use some of these lessons/technology during Team Time on Friday afternoons. There will be students in first grade who will struggle, which is why it is important we have more than one teacher working with kids while they try out some of these activities.-B. Coates

I loved the sphero application to have students experience putting a plan together and then reevaluating that plan when they don't want it to go so far or so fast, etc. I could see my Friday Free time revolving around doing a whole group activity with it. Additionally, the engineering design challenges that Shannon was speaking too were really thought provoking, as I don't do enough of it in my room!
