I bl.a. Fredericia og Middelfart har VVS-installatørerne travlt med at komme kunder til undsætning, hvis stikledning – vandforsyningen ind til huset – er knækket nede i jorden tæt ved husene på grund af den ekstreme tørke, der får undergrunden til at give sig, når jorden tørrer ud og bliver hård som granit.

Tørke opstår, når et område gennem længere tid ikke får tilstrækkeligt med nedbør. Sådanne situationer opstår hvert år i mange dele af verden, men alligevel er der stor forskel på konsekvenserne.
