He will do anything in his power to get what he wants.

“I have been married eleven years and I got a boy who sleeps in the living room -- and all I got to give him is stories about how rich white people live…” (p. 34).

This shows that he is upset with his life and how it is and indicating he wants to change it and will do anything he can to do so. Trying to make his families life better he tries to buy a liquor store and one of his coworkers takes his part of it and leaves. Walter to Travis: “Just tell me where you want to go to school and you’ll go. Just tell me, what it is you want to be—and you’ll be it…Whatever you want to be—Yessir! You just name it, son… and I hand you the world!” (p. 108)

This quote shows he will do anything for his son travis' future. He is telling him he can go to any school and he will take care of it.Walter is a hardworking man but tries to find what is better for the family. While Walter may not be very physically strong he is very emotionally strong. In my mind I tell myself,
“Keep going, you got this mess.”
So many encouraging thoughts scrape my brain
At this point my body is aching
I look towards the crowd then at my teammates
“People are counting on you”
Is another thought I have
When I feel myself giving up
My mental strength is what will keep me striving
The game is almost over
Now I am thinking, “Whether we win or lose I Know I gave it my all.”
My advice is,
Never give up
Never give in
Give it your all until the end

While this poem obviously is about a game of basketball it also shows mental strength. She is ready to give up but then remembers what she is playing for. Same with Walter he is ready to quit when he loses his money, but he does not give up because he has a family to look after and he needs to provide for them. Coming back from something that awful is very difficult and takes a lot of mental strength.

The song titanium is about being strong through a tough time. Walter has many rough times throughout the story. He relates to the singer because she is talking about how strong she is and can get through hard times and rough complications she faces. I believe it is the perfect song representing Walter's strength.

Saying that she is strong enough to take some hard times. This is just lik Walter after his partner ran away with his money.
"Shoot me down but i won't fall" saying she will get down and be hurt but will always be able to get back up. In raisin in the sun the younger family is not wanted in the neighborhood they are moving into. They continue to move in and they fight the people that don't want them there. this shows the mental strength of the family through hard times.
In Fences Rose Maxon finds out her husband troy is cheating on her and It takes a toll on her when she finds out that the woman he has been cheating on her with is pregnant with his kid. She takes a break from troy, but later comes back and raises the baby with him.
