Luna is a young girl who was sacrificed by her village to the wicked witch at a young age. Little does her interesting village know that the witch is actually incredibly nice, and doesn’t need these yearly sacrifices. During the time that the witch was carrying her back to the other side of the forrest, (where the witch actually takes babies, to parents who can take care of them) she accidentally feeds Luna the moon. The witch, Xan, then takes responsibility of Luna so when she is old enough she can take care of her powers, she tells Luna she is her grandmother, and pretends she is actual family. Very much happens in this book, and in the end it all works out. Luna’s journey to find out her grandmother’s secret helps reunite her with her original mother, and she helps save all of the people in the village from the volcano. The sorrow that has always hung over the village is finally killed, and Luna is reunited with who she loves the most.
